I think you hit the nail on the head with this video you didn’t leave out too many factors. It’s an ideal place for people to afford a home in this tough economy, and potentially to boost an economy and grow jobs in Charleston.
Thanks for the great feedback! Put a lot of work into this one so I’m glad to hear it was helpful.
I'm on the bubble about leaving California after 23 years and coming back home to Charleston. This video has mean leaning more towards it yo!
With the music and your calming voice this is like an asmr video. Love it!
Hi, this video was very helpful. I lived in West Virginia for 3 years because I got a job placed in health care there and this video is 100% accurate. I faced many challenges there and if I knew about this place I would go somewhere else.
My family and I have been trying to find a way to move up there from NC. My friends keep asking me why and this video just further cements everything I’ve seen as the potential of a wonderful life in Charleston WV.
My wife and I have been planning a move from central Mass to Wv for about a year. Our plans are fluid, obviously, and are on schedule for relocation in about a year and a half or so. We'll be semi- retired and are trying to stretch our equity as far as possible.
Hi, I live in the Boston area and I’m looking at Charleston or Wheeling for a get away city. I agree
Really well done. Clear, informative, and entertaining. TY.
Glad you enjoyed it!
How’s the home search been going btw?
@movingtovawv Still looking. Diamonds are seldom laying on the ground - they have to be mined. And that takes time and hard work - but it's always worth the effort. We are in our mid-60's and have earned the wisdom we have gained. Thank you for your continued help and support! We watch everyone of your listings very closely..
Of all the places I have lived, West Virginia will always have my heart, respect, and love.
Great video!
Thanks!
Pretty informative! Few things though: when you spoke about the distance from Charleston, WV to Charlotte, NC, you mapped it out from Charleston, SC to Charlotte, NC.
Also, when you were talking about the Charleston Metro Area, you pulled up a Google Maps image of Charleston, SC, not WV. Easy things that you have to catch, but generally found the video informative!
This is one the most informative presentations about a city I’ve ever seen. Seriously thinking about West Virginia. The background music makes it a little hard to hear.
What is the job outlook like for a local truck driver, be it delivery, dump truck, etc.? And by “local”, I mean home every night (albeit with some overtime), not living in a truck for weeks on end, a.k.a. over-the-road.
You might have mixed up with Charleston SC when you talked about its disance from Charlotte NC.
Yep. Map was incorrect distance to Charlotte is right. It’s also only 3 hours to Columbus, OH and 4 hours to Lake Erie/Downtown Cleveland.
Hit the nail on the head although the music scene is growing exponentially in Charleston
West Virginia is just like my country in terms of landscape and climate 💕
Recently watched another video of Charleston which during the Cons section pointed out the high violent crime and fentanyl problem. Might you opine on this too?
How big is the Powersports store in your area? the store that sells sport bikes, dirtbikes, side-by-side, ATVs, maybe jet skis
Also, can you ride your side-by-side on the street?
I lived in Illinois most of my life but was born in a Glendale WV so WV has a place in my heart and me and others wish to invest in WV and help build things up and bring good things to WV. I love your video and your narrating on this and your insight is outstanding because you confirmed many things for me. I definitely hit the Like and Subscribe buttons, you are just making me excited and I will pass you onto my associates
My family and I want a summer home and NC is too expensive, is it worth it to invest in a rental?
I can't be the only one with a hearing condition of tinnitus and one hearing aide..that heard 100% music and occasional words from the guy. Imagery was great though
Can you do a video comparing Huntington, WV and Charleston, WV. My wife and I are in our mid 30’s with a 4 year old daughter, and we’re considering moving to either one of those cities. We are from east TN and know very little about WV and even less about the specific cities of Huntington and Charleston, other than we like the housing price point and outdoors!
Oh, and can you talk about the climate in both Huntington and Charleston? We want to avoid places prone to natural disasters, and I’m not sure about severe weather events in those cities!
I’m from Huntington. Good place to live but if you are young with kids move to somewhere like Barboursville it is where most things are and Huntington is definitely dangerous although Marshall University is very nice. Charleston has more opportunity I’d say but Barboursville has all very nice public schools. Charleston metro has a few good ones too.
I would say that Charleston is more industrial than Huntington although not to the degree that it was in the 1960s. There is more to do in Charleston as far as restaurants and so forth and it has The Clay Center which a really good for concerts. Huntington is more level geographically as it is on the Ohio River. Huntington is pretty much centered on Marshall University and health care. Industry is on a small scale and lost a number of smaller factories since the 1960s. Both cities have lost population over the past five decades.
Can you do a video on Huntington?
Is there any kid family places there? Parks or fun indoor places for kids? Is it an Autism friendly place to raise kids with some sort of therapy available like OT DT and speech therapy?
i was wondering if blairs and chatham va .were cheap places to live? charleston looks verry attractive to me.
They sure are! Hard to find accessible housing costs and great amenities so close together
Do Martinsburg
The amount of people complaining about pronunciation and the volume of the background noise like shut up💀
Dude, I’m 1:47 in and you already have it mixed up with Charleston, SC. Look at your maps you have in your video 😂
It's pronounced kan-all county..I live in boone..I'm 20 mins away in the wooded area
I agree with what he says, but the same could be said of Columbus, and it does seem to be a bit better
I lived in Huntington and loved it, but WV kind of reminds me of Mexico with the graft
The great thing is in Mexico I just expect it, haha
Sorry been there and its a shame just a few blocks from the capital all the homeless people on the streets n the out in the open drug use.
Where are you from? Not trying to be a jerk. Just curious. You're obviously not from WV by the way you pronounced Monongahela and Kanawha.
Your voice volume is really low.
The background music overpowered you.
Your voice is a lot lower than the music
Fix the sound or take it down....
Bruh shut up💀 nothing wrong with the volume you just deaf from all the whining you do
The background music is unnecessary and drowns out your voice.
Yea we dropped the ball on the mastering for this one. I’m better at real estate than editing, that’s for sure
You actually pronounced “Kanawha” wrong, though? 😫
Charlotte is 217 miles from Charleston SC 😉
Now if it just had a Costco...
How did you pronounce "Kanawha"?
Not even close to how the locals do lol
Kuh-naw-Wuh and/or Kuh-nah for some locals.
It's pronounced Ka-gnaw
He messed up with Monongahela too. Odd, too, that he showed a photo of Harpers Ferry while talking about Charleston. I was born in Charleston and lived there until I left for college.
Apparently very incorrectly 😬 this was a highly requested video and a bit further than I usually go. I tried finding how to pronounce it but should’ve just called someone that lives there 🤦♂️. We’ve had editor mixup’s regarding pictures a few times now and it’s something we’re focusing more on to try and keep stuff like that from slipping through. Thanks for the feedback!
Just drove from Ohio through Charleston today for work. I find it funny that the whole way down there the roads were complete shit. Then just before entering the city the roads turn really nice. Then as soon as you leave the city the roads go back to shit 😂 I guess the WV government is spending all the road budget on themselves.
PLEASE learn to pronounce KANAWHA.
255,000 ? you are about 200,000 off for Charleston.
Audio,audio,audio.....
I’m looking to move out of ky. I’m looking for some place affordable easy winters but not trumpifed. Is Charleston safe from the hatred?
Tf is this Conawa? Its Ka-naw-uh
I lived in Chas over 20 yrs and it was A LOT of lies told in this video ..... First off the winters are horrible and for every person moving there 2 or 3 ppl leave so not sure what this guy is talking about.
Charleston has actually come a long way and is improving quickly with a lot of modernization efforts downtown. However, as a whole, and right outside of downtown… you are correct. Not much has changed.
We have barely had any winters in the last 4 or 5 years. Sometimes we do get huge snows, but rarely.
😂😂😂
If you want public transportation, WV is not the place for you anyway.
Pros: none. Cons: too many to list. Charleston has nothing going on. It is horrific. Maybe they will have a little growth because everywhere else is extremely expensive. I lived there for years and it was always horrendous
That bad huh? I’m from Chicagoland area and I got out. I’m in the countryside now. Much less hectic, much less traffic.
@@jamesjirik2245 Charleston is horrific and not near any major or important region
How is it horrific, though? Asking as an older, semi-retired individual without a family who's considering moving there from central Maryland to stretch my savings.
Drug use. Yea!!!!
You pronounced Monongahela very 😵💫👎
Dude mispronounced damn near everything
You've obviously gleaned all these facts from Google, and you've never even been there. Kanawha is pronounced KeNAW, not Kana wha! If you pronounced Kanawha like you do they would laugh you out of town!
It's:
K' Nahw
OR
K'Nah-wuh
NOT
Kano-wah
