If that was my pond i would have got you to drain it and dig the original pond area out and throw it back to have more depth in the pond and more area around the water for activities. That pond 12-15’ deep with a wider dam and a new core would be a lot of fun and useful for a nice long slide and an excavator swing

Chris can grab the icing knife spreader with his blade grabber, grab up some cake icing and decorate the cake while many operators just scratch their heads….lol..🤣😂 All kidding aside….The pond owner will be happy he had Letsdig18 doing the job.
My guess is that multiple people tried working on this pond. The first guy just start randomly digging out the shore. The next guy that came in try to fix what the first guy did by bringing in dirt to fix what the first guy did but got to expensive or ran out time to finish and that's where you came in.

Reminds me of dredging a fly-ash pond, at work, many years ago. The contractor used a Bucyrus crane and a big Cat dozer. They worked so good together, swinging and sliding the dredging bucket it was like watching a well rehearsed dance.
You really have an eye for detail and the equipment to make your vision possible! Your basically a sculptor,with heavy equipment,and that’s what separates the amateurs from the professionals. On top of that,you treat your customers fairly. That’s what’s missing in business today,integrity!

Find an old grader blade, attach a quick connect, and use that for moving sloppy mud. Like you do with the mats. Would also work when the dozer is not feasible.
I once saw an operator do pretty much that only he used a large "I" beam 18 inch by 12 feet if memory serves, and would simply grab it with the bucket and thumb. he would tilt it one way and the edge would dig in, or tilt back ad use it to smooth out the surface like a knife on frosting.
Chris, that is a good looking slick job there. I need a grading bucket. I have a cutting edge welded to two outside teeth on my digging bucket but I can't make it look like that. You make it look like icing on a birthday cake. 👍
Really appreciate your videos and the training I get from them. Recently spent a few weeks in Mayfield, Ky doing volunteer work after the tornados. Using my tractor, truck, and chainsaws. A company delivered a large excavator for us to move big trees off houses and such. I’ve rented mini excavators before but this was my first experience with a large one. Learned a lot and used techniques I learned from watching you to lift and load trees, even dug out a few really large ones that were damaged and wouldn’t make it. Dug the big hole around them and then pushed them over. Cut them up and dropped the base, root ball and stump back in the hole for fish cover. After losing so many trees the owner decided he’s going to build a pond. Anyway wish I had learned to operate big machines when I was younger. Thanks again for the training.
I'm surprised the owners didn't ask for a deeper cut. In Australia more water storage is always wanted. And we don't know what weather patterns are going to do. It's a nice looking property overall.

I don't know what happens over fall and winter but turnips are a great cover crop. Stop Erosion, either spray or mow down in spring before they go to seed. Stay green all winter. Gives a good start to grass seed.
Dave over at Ccrx6700, a coal mine train rail maintenance guy at the Cumberland mine in Pennsylvania, has a pond problem and mentioned you in his video. I know it's a long ways away but it would make an awesome get together and be good for both channels.

I've run some large excavators in my past at some quarry's. I didn't have "tilt" buckets or any of those luxuries. You young man, do an excellent job from what I've watched.

Glad you’re fixing the pond. Seems the pond water is seeping into the pond walls - perhaps there’s insufficient clay in the soil or it wasn’t packed down. Cutting down the shoreline wall will make the pond surface larger, but doesn’t seem it will make the pond deeper unless much more water is added and retained.
I saw a video you would enjoy yesterday! A CAT 962 wheel loader being transported on a low boy trailer 740Km to a mine site. Looked like it was in the Alps, hairpin turns, up and down mountains, down the center of the road. They had to remove the cab, and back it on the trailer, let air out of the back tires because they were sitting on top of the tandem axles and the bucket sat on top of the trailer gooseneck!
A guy could rig up a vickers valve for the thumb and tilt bucket, couple buddies of mine do something similar to run log grapples with rotate on excavators, use the vickers valve for the less common function, in this case switching from rotate to grab.
Skimming the dry off of that self leveling jello is tricky at best. Good job not sinking to China out there. Who'da thunk you could dredge without mats. Only Chris would have the confidence to use that floating dry as a mat and still cut it right up to his tracks. A lot of guys would have sunk their equipment up to the seat. Cool job.
I filled up with diesel for the tractor yesterday here in the UK. £0.73/litre for 1,000 litres, which is $3.85/US gallon. This time last year, it was $2.16 Road diesel for the truck is $7.90/US gallon...

Looking at that soil, I bet that shoreline has slumped down towards the pond probably 50 feet or so in the last 45-50 years. Nothing to hold it back.

Before anyone asks, yes that square thing out there on the end of the stick is a manual concrete pump. In the south we just call it a bucket.

Maybe the holes along the shore was to encourage fish beds when the water was higher? Makes for easy fishing when they're right at the feet.

I believe the bad section was where they pushed their first cut to. Loaded with organic matter it dissolved and left what you have.
