Once upon a time, the street i lived on had a culvert for a small stream. being young, my brother and i crawled through it. the culvert was made of two different sizes of concrete pipe, a section of an old boiler, and two different sizes of corrugated steel pipe. when they finally replaced it, i told the foreman what he would find, he laughed, as that is exactly what they had dug up

  • @30farms70
    @30farms70 2 ปีที่แล้ว +43

We fixed a pond one time that was using 4 old fuel tanks welded together end to end for an overflow. They had welded a big gate on the end of the pipe in the pond to cutoff the overflow. Of course when the pond filled the tanks/pipe floated. So they dug it out , placed it again and poured 96 yards of concrete around it for a seep collar. It still floated the pipe enough to leak and the seeping water cut a gully through the pond dam. When we got the call, I couldn't believe what I saw. Like to never got all that concrete busted up. We cut the gate off the pipe and welded it to the end of the pipe outside the pond and it has never leaked again. That job sucked. Love your videos.

Think like water in any trade. I've repaired so many rotten sills because the previous guy used the best material but in the wrong way like David Uher mentioned. Roof edges are another bug problem when someone puts on flashing, flashing tape and membrane but don't have the up-roof side under the upper pieces of membrane.

  • @marlondeere3039R

Good one! When pouring concrete on or up to existing concrete your must soak the existing concrete with water first or the old concrete will pull out the water and it will not adhere and it will crack apart every time. Good example of this is the way the pipe came out of the poured so easy. If you wet it first it will be as one piece.

When moving lengths of pipe, do this...
Attach a bag of earth to a G-clamp on the end of the pipe, on a 2 yard length of rope.
Drag the bag along the ground..
It keeps the pipe in the direction of travel, and aids in location when in the trench.
There's nothing worse than pipe, especially polypropelene for flapping about in the breeze.

Awesome work! Might consider wearing safety glasses when you have the windshield opened.

So much concrete, so little time. Tks for showing how the concrete didn’t go all the way underneath. Chris, you always do such an excellent job. Looks like you had a “smashing” time🤣 Too soon?? Seriously though, glad you weren’t hurt & the 160 only suffered minor damage. Take care & cheers from 🐨🦘🥰

Looks like the dump truck needs a new skin. Getting ragged toward the tailgate. :)

    One thing is for sure.
Once Chris is on the job no matter how seriously someone else did a screwed the pooch FUBAR job.
    When he's done.
All will be 110 percent spot on perfect for dozens of decades of reliable operation.
    Pretty much 4 ever.
    Beavers beware.
Chris was here, your eviction notice is permanent.

Always amazed at the work you do! I see the operators around here in Ohio and it’s like take that home and call Chris in and do it right! Well done Sir ……

To think of how much money they wasted on concrete.... Chris, it pays to get a good contractor and have the job done correctly the first time. Kudo's to you sir for making everything turn out right and leaving the site in perfect shape!
