    Seven HUNDRED dollars for reject gpu silicon strapped to a usb hub is actual highway robbery. If you're reading this, please save your money.

      @@TheBlackDon Considering your above-listed link to this item contains an affiliate referral code, your answer is somehow unsurprising. The associated bias and financial incentive for you to recommend a product is a no-brainer from a business decision POV. But from a practicality and value perspective you can buy a budget gaming laptop that will literally blow the doors off this setup for less money with less wires.

      I do have an affiliate link which you can purchase from if you want but my thoughts are my thoughts. I could care less if you purchase the device. I purchased the device myself with my one money and don't regret it. If you feel like it's not a good value that's completely fine by me. I'm just providing my personal experience with the device and it has truly been a great experience. Not everyone's experience will be the same which is fine but my video has nothing to do with the affiliate link. It's just there to make some income for what I do if the viewer feels like they want to buy it. No pressure at all! 😎💯

    Thanks for this! I'm surprised the OneX is not blowing up more. Good to see this, as reviews focus on specs and performance from a loaned device and not every day use. The Asus XG eGPU looks great on paper but a pain to use and Asus support sucks after over promising. This is the absolute alternative to that. Especially with a 1T storage that the XG doesn't have.
    The only consideration is Laptop eGPU vs. Desktop eGPU. Other than that, if I need I/O port expansion and external memory, this is a no brainer for that performance boost at the smaller form factor and price point of a laptop gpu.

      You're welcome! And I know! I agree. It's a great product! They are still a pretty new company so I'm sure they will grow soon. They mainly make handheld gaming devices. I do think this is a great fit if you need IO build it and the m.2 storage slot is a major plus for the price. I'm going to continue to create reviews on everyday use because I think that is more useful than just the numbers. Numbers don't mean anything if it doesn't consistently perform.

      There's a video by Try Some Tech who has trouble with his onexplayer X1 and it shows trouble that you don't want to have. In the event you need a bios update for their devices you have to go to their discord server instead of being able to download them from their web site. Onex's OCulink port should not have the problems it does and you should not need to restart to switch from igpu to an external one. The reason I bring the X1 up is this onexegpu is designed with that 3in1 in mind This external gpu is a nice idea butter there are better options especially when TB5 can offer 120GBps for Egpus. I'd rather just use an egpu dock so I can switch gpus when I need to. I don't see this thing being useful for anything but another onex device and not for any longer than a year. With that said it's just as bad as Asus.
      edit: Also the product page on amazon says the OCulink is not even included.

      I'm using this device with an Asus ROG Flow and it works great and does allow me to hot swap at any time without restarting. I'm not using the oculink port so I'm not sure of the issues that come with that. Just using the thunderbolt/USB4 port and just been working great. I've had one time when it restarted my whole computer when I plugged it in but it worked fine after that. I can understand wanting a full desktop eGPU that you can swap later but this is perfect for traveling as I have already taken it on trips and I'm able to play COD, The Finals, and overwatch all on Max graphics while getting an average of 100 fps. So in my use case it's definitely worth it.

      @@TheBlackDon Get your hands a onex player X1 Intel or Ryzen version and see how things work. You already purchased their gpu...It would be best if you got the company to send one of those devices because I would not recommend you spending your own money on them. Make sure you get a version with 64GB of ram and the modules are soldered and not upgradable, but they are LPDDR5X instead of slower standard laptop ram. They do have a 2280 m.2 slot which is useful.

    It's because this is equivalent of low end GPU from 2021 that this isn't more popular. I would only recommend this if the laptop's dedicated GPU has gone bad, or if it never had one at all.

      @@TheBlackDon yes, it seems to perform similarly to (perhaps even _slightly_ better) the 3060 laptop GPU, which was available very early in 2021. this is without the loss from being in an external enclosure.

    700 usd for one component is just too expensive, is indeed highway robbery for the specs
    The 7600m xt uses the same die as a desktop 7600, that costs 260 usd...
    The only advantage is the form factor which i agree is cool, but you are paying 300-400 usd as a premium for this

    • @Elinzar
      @Elinzar 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Pd: you can diy a eGPU dock with a 7600 and an oculink/tb3 enclosure for like 350 to 500 usd with card included in the price

    • @TheBlackDon
      @TheBlackDon  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I completely get that. But I paid 500 for the Asus ROG Flow tablet and 700 for the eGPU so for 1200 usd I have an awesome tablet combo that I can play any game I want on, on the go. To me it's worth it. I am paying for the form factor for sure tho.

    • @Elinzar
      @Elinzar 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TheBlackDon for those who can afford it i doubt it would be a bad setup indeed is just too much money for just having the on the go portability advantage imo, and for me at least an eGPU is way more useful in a docking station to convert it into a desktop than actually having it on the go, but if you are constantly moving i get it
      btw 500 for that rog flow, you got a killer deal with that man, nice
