Legal Demand: My Channel Might Need A New Name!

- The law firm representing the "Natural News Network ®" and The “Health Ranger®” Mike Adams, is demanding I change my channel and show name. According to this firm, "Natural News with Danny Curtin," infringes on their trademarks and creates confusion. I definitely don't want to create any enemies, so I'm most likely going to change the name, but I’d love to get your thoughts on the matter. Please leave a comment, question, or concern below. We are now the Natural Informant w/ Danny Curtin.Thank you to everyone for all of the wonderful support. We figured this was the best option, and that name meshes very well with what we are trying to accomplish on this channel.

You have my support. Try to avoid litigation, the emotional and financial cost is too great and will have a negative impact on your overall health. Your supporters are going to stay with you and keep following you regardless of whether you change your name or not
Really like and appreciate your channel, Danny. May be best to change the name of your channel and avoid the stress, aggravation and cost of fighting in court especially against an opponent with powerful and abundant resources.

This is ridiculous.
"Natural news" is a generic name.
It will never hold in court.
It's like calling a beverage "Danny's soda" and being ask by someone else to change the name because he called his beverage "Joe's Soda".
At least you are not being sued by the authorities (this is what came to my mind at first when I saw the title of that video).
However, it's good to make sure you don't have enemies so either talk with him or just change the name to "Natural Health News with Danny Curtin".
Your analogy is ridiculous comparing Danny soda to Joe soda. Natural news is Mike Adams's brand. I too also found it confusing when I first saw Danny Curtin here.
I'm sure if Danny called it Natural Talk with Danny Curtin Mike Adams would have no problem with that.
Lastly, I don't think it's cool to make a video out of this just to create content. Mike Adams is correct in my opinion. If he sent you emails and they were ignored and that's why you got an attorney letter, that makes sense. Changing the name is no big deal... you're early on here in your TH-cam journey

Yes when u think u r going to health rangers and you type in natural news you get your site. Not that you both aren't supporting real health news but it does make it confusing. So Michael has a point and the world needs both of you so please change the name. Thanks Ali

Legal action about such a generic term seems a bit ridiculous to me but probably not worth the stress to fight it. Seeing your content is health based why not add the word health into your title eg. Natural Health News
Your current subscribers will still be following and you’ll pick up more because it’s more descriptive of you’re channel.

Unfortunately this highlights that Adams priority is not getting natural news out but $$ imo or he thinks his possible audience is dumb and can't tell the difference.
Anyway with site name change is it possible to keep your name in it?

Mike Adams has a huge following. I used to listen to him but haven’t in a couple years. He advertises expensive things I can’t afford and just puts me into a worry mode which I reject worry. I will do what my capable mind tells me plus I don’t follow the anon cabal people at all any more. I am trusting the Lord Jesus Christ which I was before just w/o all the extras of fear which we get daily about country is under God’s judgment for all our sins! I pray you will do what is right! The word natural is an everyday used word! Mike does not own that word!!
This sort of whacky demand from "the health ranger" is an inappropriate slogan for a health channel, his bad reputation has followed him for years. The content of your videos is full of up-to-date health information and to the point, touche to your subscribers who think the legal way is not the way expressly in these times. NATURAL INFORMANT w/ Danny Curtin sounds more precise to me. I just subscribed to your channel again just in case!

It seems there's a distinction here, and one they can't have both ways. It depends upon whether the phrase Natural News is a moniker or an object as within a normal sentence. They can't take claim of a common English phrase used as an object. It'd be like me saying, "Ok now, no one can use the words Icy Cliff because I'm a rapper now and those are my words". 🙄Please
Using their logic, soon we'll be running out of words we can even utter. I'm leaning more towards a middle finger in their face and a righteous anger over an insulting threat and attempt at commandeering the English language. It's your channel brother, but as long as they're engaging in word play, personally I'd ask them if the letters F.O. mean anything to them. The tweeking of just one letter would make their petty argument null and void imo. Natural (n)ews with Danny Curtain, is absolutely a sentence using an object which they can't take claim to. Or agitate them with a near-miss with "SuperNatural News with Danny C. They definitely can't touch that one, but I'd make sure that no one else can either. Don't wanna go down that road. God I hate attorneys worse than Malaria-carrying mosquitos.
You don't need to change your TH-cam name. If you fight this case you will win and set precedent for future similar cases....if it goes to court at all. I have never in 13 years of consuming youtube heard anyone win a successful lawsuit to make someone change their channel name, let alone any case that went to court. Stop worrying
