Its is the soft plaque that is dangerous and which burst and causes heart attacks. Calcified plaque is considered stable plaque. You can watch Dr Brewers videos on this as well as many other Functional medical Doctors. You also need your LP (A) checked and AP0B. Get a cardio IQ Test to see your particle size and which Patten you are which is A or B. A is good

I refused to take statins for about 20 years despite constantly high LDL, based on the absence of other risk factors such as smoking, obesity or lack of exercise. Going low-carb has in fact raised slightly the ldl, but lowered significantly triglycerides and Hdl, thus lowering cardiovascular risk. I do take supplements, such as Apple cider vinegar, but ldl got back within the guidelines with daily red rice yeast.

I was on a statin and I had muscle issues. I stopped. Latter got a different doctor and he put me on it again, lower dose. I reluctantly did it. Later he said he wanted me on a higher dose. I asked if there was something else I could do and he steered me to high carb low fat diet. My cholesterol jumped so high and I was diagnosed as prediabetic. I found channels such as this one, went on a low carb diet and now I not taking any prescriptions.

I am not concerned about my cholesterol but I think the significant factor it being lowered from 275 to 229 in 5 months is due to reducing sugar (carbs ) intake

I was so angry that my sister, who is a nurse, was strongly pushing for me to take a statin because of my high cholesterol. I tried to explain that I had researched statins and already suffer from Fibromyalgia and was very concerned about the side effects, especially muscle pain. She still pushed for me to take them. I’m certain she hasn’t researched statins, only vomited out what she was taught. Totally sad.

    • @dragons_red
      @dragons_red 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

That's because nurses and doctors are human body mechanics, not scientists.
Like auto mechanics, they are taught a trade and "this is how you do" with only very basic science explaination in schooling as to why (which can be incorrect).
You wouldn't think of a car mechanic as an automotive engineer.
But our modern society is obsessed with treating them as "heros" thus get this incorrect thinking of them as smarter than they are, and lots of them let it go to their head.
I'm not saying there AREN'T docs and nurses that DO know better (smar with auto mechanics), but they are far from the norm.

I know a man who had a 90% blockage in a major artery to his heart. His doctor was opened minded and did not buy into the Statin craze. He immediately put the man on Vitamin D3, Vitamin K2 and CoQ10. In six weeks the calcification had reduced by 32%. In six months the entire blockage was gone! No stints, No surgery! Also the flexibility returned to his blood vessels. It is not cholesterol that blocks your arteries it is calcium! As blood vessels become rigid they can develop tears. Cholesterol acts as a natural bandaid to cover the tear, however calcium deposits around the tear and the vessel starts to clog. D3 keeps the calcium in motion, K2 takes calcium from the blood and puts it in the bones and teeth where it belongs. The CoQ10 greatly improves heart health! More and more doctors are discovering this supplement trio packs a punch for cardiovascular health!

He gave me a prescription for statins which I took for 3 days. I felt like crud & also my libido was affected for the first time in my life. I later talked to the experienced cardiologist who told me I should never have been prescribed it & that he generally used it for 70 year old men. I highly recommend using herbal medicines to replace "advanced" modern prescriptions, because they don't have the side effects & health risks that the long term use of prescriptions have.

The brain NEEDS cholesterol. It's role:
Component of Cell Membranes: Cholesterol is a major component of the cell membranes of neurons and glial cells, ensuring their structural integrity and fluidity.
Myelin Sheath Formation: Cholesterol is essential for the formation and maintenance of the myelin sheath, which insulates nerve fibers and facilitates the rapid transmission of electrical impulses along neurons.
Synapse Function: Cholesterol is involved in the formation and function of synapses, the connections between neurons that allow for communication and signal transmission.
Neurotransmitter Release: It plays a role in the synthesis and release of neurotransmitters, chemicals that transmit signals across synapses.
Brain Development: Cholesterol is particularly important during brain development, influencing the growth and differentiation of neurons.
The brain synthesizes most of its cholesterol locally, as the blood-brain barrier restricts the uptake of cholesterol from the bloodstream. Thus, adequate cholesterol production within the brain is critical for its proper functioning.

@@mountainflyhigh You're not wrong with part of your statement - in my opinion. I'm confident that GP's gain financially, or otherwise - like gifts, cruises, etc. when their prescription numbers are good with certain pharma companies.
But additionally GP's don't have much choice but to comply with the wishes of their industry bodies (which are fully controlled by big pharma) lest they lose their licence to practice.
This was made crystal clear from the onset of the plandemic. A lot of GP's have to now wrestle with their conscience and only some will choose to change careers.
Underpinning much of this 'problem' is the fact that nearly all of the GP's (and other medical specialists) were literally indoctrinated throughout their university learnings and in their literature. The health [wealth] system takeover was put in motion many, many years ago by corporations controlling pharma, political lobbying, licensing bodies, etc.
The endless lies spun about things like salt, msg, cholesterol, fats, the aversion to natural alternatives, and on and on - and the effort to use that propaganda to corral folks into so-called remedies with (dangerous) medicines is the ultimate betrayal of humanity.

Just eat some eggs and it recovers. I had to quit playing golf because of the statin. I was (low score 55) shooting 62 on hometown course (reg71). watched how much statins effected your health. Stopped the statin at 64, went and played a round and shot 77 at 65. It doesn't hurt to play. So nice. Now , at 65. it will probably take 2 years of practice to get below 71. It’s the SPEAKERS at these meetings who ARE reimbursed.

My bodies response was the same as your husbands, so I threw them away but continued with the CoQ10. I was told my heart had suffered 20% damage from the heart attack and annual checkups indicated that was true. Over the 18 years I had regular check ups, some invasive, they found nothing wrong, which was attributed to the drug. I continued my side effects and my complaints, the doctor changed and ascribed the side effects to other (vague) effects. So, I unilaterally stopped taking the Lipitor 2 months ago, within a month the main “side effect” I had complained of and been told was a “mechanical” disappeared. I was taking the highest dosage of Atorvastatin for 3 years when I started getting a lot of back pain. Then I went to wearing a back brace. Then I decided to do some planking to strengthen my core and it felt like my vertebra were just going to fall out of place. That's when I figured out I was having a side effect from some medication I was taking. I got on the internet and quickly found that Atorvastatin can cause muscle weakness and it becomes noticeable with the small muscles in the lower back. I take vitamin K2 now. I hope it is working. The problem with most GP's is that once they have their degree, that's when their learning and research stops. I have had very high cholesterol figures since I was a kid, I'm now 68. Speaking to a young British doctor quite recently, he told me that if you haven't had a "cardiac event"by 45, don't worry about it. It's far more important to watch your weight, blood pressure and have a calcium score test done bi-annually. Calcium build up in the coronary arteries is far more dangerous.

Back in 1990 I went to a doctor who was shocked by my cholesterol reading. She freaked out on the spot and told me that unless I immediately took statins I'd have a stroke by the end of the month. I must admit her reaction did frighten me but I resisted and never took the statins. Well here I still am 33 years later, undoubtedly with sky high cholesterol but still alive. My mother however, was not so fortunate. That same doctor freaked her out and she acquiesced to her demands and took the statins. Almost immediately she started having electric shocks in her legs and would collapse on the footpath. This continued and in the end she could barely walk. She was diagnosed with an auto immune condition called 'polymyositis' where the body attacks the muscles, primarily of the legs. It is my view that the statins caused this condition. This was the only thing wrong with her but when she could no longer walk she just gave up the ghost at 92. There was nothing else wrong with her.

I also told her about the alternative hypotheses to the cholesterol hypothesis. I also knew about the statistics on the benefits and the difference between relative and absolute (I'm sure she had no idea.) Then I told her about my mother, on statins for decades and with every symptom of low cholesterol in the book (they're listed as side effects on the statins drug packets). He said if I won't take the same dose, what about half dose? I said no. He said what about quarter dose? I said no. He said what about one-eighth dose. I said no.
I had been taking statins for 25 years and was having muscle pain to the extent I could hardly walk a quarter mile, no matter how much I pushed myself. My doctor had told me "Walk through the pain". I had not made the connection that it was the statin that was doing it. But in year 2021 TH-cam showed a video that clued me in. Still, it took months for me to get the courage to quit, and I was very nervous about facing my doctor. But January 2022 I stopped the statins and my muscle pain went away, slowly over months. The doc told him to buy Red Yeast Rice supplement, take it for a few months then stop for an interval before resuming. My husband goes back for his retest in October to see if his one artery plaque has reduced.🤞🤞 Doctors are quick to put people on the heavy duty stuff that has bad side effects when there might be an alternative.

Was prescribed atorvastatin, one a day, when my ldl count was slightly high. A runner of 10ks every three weeks or so for 20 years, I noticed on one run recently that my thigh muscles were aching badly after the run. A few weeks later, my thigh muscles were aching badly even during the run. This had never happened before. I was also feeling muscle pain at the base of my back. It was also taking about four days for the thigh muscle pain to ease after a run. After some research I decided to stop taking the statin daily. Within two weeks all my muscle aches and pains have disappeared. I’ll either stop the statin completely or try a different type.

My cholesterol reading was 5.2 but the cardiologist wanted me to take Aspovor, but I refused. With diet I reduced it to 4.9 & am still working on bringing it to it's normal level. I’ve since been taking this twice daily (400mg) with very pleasing results. My arterial plaque which had been rising at about 10% per annum levelled off then fell slightly. My bone density which was in the osteopenic range also stopped falling. All with no side effects. If you are on statins you should check this out.

After being prescribed statins after an angina episode, and an angioplasty I started having muscles in different parts of my body locking up. That progressed too full thickness muscle tears. Then I started hearing that statins often cause muscle damage and don't effect cholesterol.
I went off Statins, and the muscle damage decreased. I talked to other seniors in our taichi group and a number had experienced something similar.
To my way of thinking Statins are a huge fraud that cause problems for many.
After a second angioplasty years later for a narrowing artery I told my heart specialist it would be a cold day in hell before I ever took Statins again. That was six plus years ago. My arterial sclerosis has gradually diminished after a regime of Vitamin K2 and D3. I also eliminated taking calcium supplements. All of which seem to have lowered my sclerosis.

@7:25 you mention severe muscle pain. I can speak from personal experience. At age 46 I got 2-1/2 weeks into my first statin prescription of Lescol. I developed excruciating muscle pain. Liver enzymes tested high. Physiatrist diagnosed me with severe rhabdomyolosis-muscle wasting.
It took both hands to hold my toothbrush. I had to lift my legs into the car with the help of my arms. I took a 1-1/2 years sabbatical from teaching to recover. And 4 years later (52) had my aortic heart valve replaced. My cardiologists suggested it was damaged from the statin.
Yet doctors still want me to take a statin.

He had no cholesterol issues. He lost his ability to talk. Would not go to work because he didn't want to be embarrassed as owner of the company. He went to the chiropractor and was shown studies about side affects. He stopped taking the statins, and in two weeks, guess who gained their ability to speak again? People must do their own research and stop allowing someone in a white coat to tell you what to do with your body.

This statistical trickery by drug companies reminds me of a Dilbert comic strip that shows a staff meeting where they are trying to describe a company problem in a less negative way. Problem: the company's product is killing customers. After several attempts to make this sound better, they finally come up with something like: "There has been a significant decline in dis-satisfied customers." But read the original comic if you can find it; it's much funnier seeing how all the staff members react to this.

@elsiemorales9934 I recommend you ask your doctor for hard numbers on what your risk is and how much the statins are really reducing that risk. Then you'll have to decide if that theoretical benefit is worth the pain you have to put up with and the damage to your quality of life for what could be a much smaller risk reduction than you realize.

I'm tired of having this verbal argument with physicians and would like to settle the issue once & for all. It irritates me that they keep lowering the bar for cholesterol, blaming it for heart & vascular issues so they can prescribe statins to more patients, ones who suddenly now have "high cholesterol" despite having the same numbers they had last time they were tested. I'm a nutritionist & am a big advocate for whole foods, very low carb/ketosis/carnivore/etc., no sugar, no processed foods, intermittent fasting and utilizing supplements, herbs, vitamins, minerals & compounds to help round out a healthy change in lifestyle.

Severe Muscle Pain has ALWAYS been the most common side effect of Statins. Take a look at the concurrent use of pain killers, especially opioids, with Statins. You will see an odd link. The first statin, Simvastatin from Merk Inc (MSD), was the only company to highlight this side effect while others "minimised" the apparent side effect which is the ONLY reason that Lipitor has the market share instead of Merck. I had a Heart Attack some 6 years ago caused by stress and the Cardiologist agreed that having BP, Cholesterol Low/Normal that even Aspirin (ASA) would not be beneficial and NO Statin.
