    Thanks so much for watching! 😊 So many women have asked us “how do you know that you are in true labor and how is true labor different, depending on whether you are in the early or active stage of labor?” Although these are very simple questions, the answers are not so straightforward because every woman is different. We hope that this video clarifies most aspects about true labor!

      First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on your baby!! 😃🥰❤️ It's such a relief to finally hold your baby in your arms!! We hope that both, you and your baby are well!! Plus, we do hope that you manage to get some rest too! 😃
      Thanks SO MUCH for sharing your story with us!! ❤️❤️❤️ We are really really super happy that our videos helped you with a spontaneous delivery! Sometimes, it's so difficult for us to explain the things that we apply at the clinic, because at the clinic, we not only do it ourselves, knowing exactly what we have to do. We also have more ways of helping a woman (for example, with acupuncture). And so, we often sit together at home and discuss if the tools that we explain on youtube really help women, since it's obviously much more difficult to apply the tools at home and on your own. So, your story really helps us a lot to see that, apparently, they do help women, at least some of them! And this motivates us enormously to continue!!
      Again, thanks so much for sharing your story and for your feedback!! 😃
      We really wish you all the best for you and your baby!! ❤️❤️

    I am having back pain and lower abdomen pain. Also, I feel pain while turning left and right on bed and also while standing and sitting. Do you think this might mean I am in early labour?

    • @CareAboutLittleOnes
      @CareAboutLittleOnes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! 😊
      If what you are feeling are real contractions, then you would constantly feel them and not only when you make specific moves (f.e. turning left or right on your bed). In other words, true labor contractions don't get better by things you do or don't do.
      Alternatively, it could also be pelvic girdle pain because what you describe is very typical for that kind of pain. OR it could just be false contractions. But false contractions would go away when you take a warm bath (which you could try, just to see if the pain goes away)...
      However, please note that all of that is just speculation. If you are having any doubts, the best thing to do is always to consult with your provider!
      We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby! ❤️

    Hello good day, which month will Braxton hicks start?

    • @CareAboutLittleOnes
      @CareAboutLittleOnes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there 😊,
      Braxton Hicks normally start some time after week 20 of your pregnancy, but don't be surprised if you feel them even earlier, like from week 16 onwards (particularly, if this is your first pregnancy).
      However, they are normally more noticeable in the third trimester: most women feel them after week 32 and, in particular, once the body starts preparing for labor (which is different for every woman)...
      We hope this helps! 😊

    I am 38 weeks 4 days. The usual white discharge is now bit watery that goes all yhrough my leg from yesterday and especially whenever i getup from bed. Is it water bad leakage or just discharge?

    • @CareAboutLittleOnes
      @CareAboutLittleOnes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there 😊,
      it's very difficult for us to tell what it is. However, if you have the feeling that it is worse when you get up from bed, it could be a sign that - when you lie in bed - water is pooling in your vagina - which COULD be a sign of water leakage.
      There is a test that you can try to find out if you are leaking water. We describe it at the end of this video: th-cam.com/video/B5H-llfoHQ4/w-d-xo.html. It could help you find out if you are leaking water. But in general, if you have any doubts, please consult with your provider. They might have to analyze a sample of the discharge...

    I cannot find any information for women who have had multiple pregnancies. I'm on my 6th. From what I've noticed, my body seems to feel MORE with each pregnancy, I was just wondering if their are any studies about pregnancy and labor related for women who have quite a few children already.

    • @CareAboutLittleOnes
      @CareAboutLittleOnes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there 😊,
      yes, there are studies! However, most of them focus on certain aspects of labor-related topics. For example: does Castor oil work better in women with multiple pregnancies. Or: is tearing less likely in women with multiple pregnancies etc. But they make no difference between women who give birth to their second baby and women who give birth to baby number 6, for instance.
      The general picture that we get from studies about women with multiple pregnancies is that NORMALLY labor goes much smoother and faster than in women who give birth to their first baby. In fact, that even seems to be the case if the baby is not in an optimal position (like baby facing the front instead of the back etc.). But it's not true for every woman, because there can always be complications and factors that are specific to a particular pregnancy.
      In terms of labor signs, there does not seem to be a difference between first time and multiple pregnancies, except that women with multiple pregnancies tend to be more dilated before they go into labor. On the other hand, their baby often only engages hours before labor starts (or even AFTER labor has started).
      As for the pregnancy itself, we are not aware of any particular studies. From our experience, we can tell you that the experiences of women with 4, 5 or more kids vary from woman to woman. We certainly had women who reported the same as you did: they felt "MORE" with each pregnancy. But we also had women who reported that there was not much of a difference between their pregnancies... So, we guess, it very much depends on the person...
      That's all we can tell you!
      We hope this helps! 😊
      We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️

    Hi! I'm 36 weeks and 3 days pregnant, I feel pain on my lower abdomen since 1 pm to 7:29 pm..
    Am I having an active labor? thank you

    • @CareAboutLittleOnes
      @CareAboutLittleOnes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello May ❤️
      it's very very difficult for us to say based on your description. First of all, every woman experiences real contractions in a different way. So pain in your lower abdomen may or may not be the way you are going to experience real labor. However, if you would be in active labor, you would notice a certain regularity and frequency in regards to your contractions. In fact, you would feel contractions every 4-5 minutes. And they would last between 30-70 seconds, but most likely, something between 45 and 60 seconds. And finally, they would not go away when you either change your position or activity.
      So unless you notice such a pattern, it is unlikely that you are in active labor. Therefore, if you are not in active labor, the question is: where does the pain come from? It COULD be that what you experience are Braxton Hicks, which, however, would go away when you change your position or activity (or when you take a warm bath).
      Next, it could be early labor which SOMETIMES starts in week 36. Early labor is difficult to define because it is so different for every woman. At that stage, your contractions do not necessarily come regularly. However, you would observe that the contractions come back more and more frequently over time.
      Finally, it could be something else. However, it is really impossible for us to say what it could be. Only a checkup from a doctor can help you find out, where the pain comes from that you are feeling. So if you can exclude the first few options, we encourage you to talk to your doctor! As always, the safety of your baby comes first! 😊
      We wish you all the best for you and your baby and please keep us updated if you like!! ❤️❤️

    How can we tell if we don't want cervical checks?

    • @CareAboutLittleOnes
      @CareAboutLittleOnes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Leslie 😊,
      there is indeed another method to check if you are in true labor. Take a warm bath (20min). If the contractions improve, then it is unlikely that you are in true labor. If, on the other hand, you ARE in true labor, then the contractions will not go away...
      Most importantly though, you have to check if your contractions are progressing. So, if your contractions start to come closer together, last longer and become more intense, then it is likely that you are in true labor...
      We hope this helps! 😊
      Wishing you all the best for you and your baby! ❤️

      Hi there! 😊
      We can absolutely understand that you are tired and exhausted. A pregnancy is just SO long! However, please note that it is not advised to try induce labor in week 36. Not only is the baby not fully developed yet, also, it is very unlikely to work with natural tools, such as Castor oil.
      Give your baby some more time! You have made it this far and there are just a few more weeks left to go! Also, if you try to induce labor at a later stage, it is much more likely to work.
      What we do at the clinic is, we help women prepare for labor (not induce, but prepare) step by step from week 37 onwards. We explain the tools that are suitable for labor preparation (and then later for labor induction) in this video: th-cam.com/video/8rehbupwhzY/w-d-xo.html
      We hope it helps you too! 😊

    Am i in early labour are these early labour signs??

    • @CareAboutLittleOnes
      @CareAboutLittleOnes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there 😊,
      while what you experience are all so-called "early signs of labor", it does not sound like you are experiencing any real contractions. If your belly gets hard, it could also only just be a Braxton Hicks contraction.
      The most important thing is to look out for contractions. And then see if their patterns starts to change. In other words, if you experience contractions, check how often they come and how regular they are. At first, they may only be some 10-20 minutes apart. But eventually, they will come in closer and closer intervals.
      Finally, if you experience contractions, you can take a warm bath of 20min to see, if they go away. If they do, then you know that what you experience are not true labor contractions...
      We hope this helps! 😊

      @CareAboutLittleOnes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there Georgina and thanks so much for your sharing!! ❤️
      First of all: congratulations on pregnancy no 3! 😊
      That said, we are sorry to hear that you have been in labor for over 1 week now without progression. 🙁 It can be very frustrating! But please, don't give up!!
      By the way: sometimes, if labor is not progressing, it's because a woman may not yet be in early labor, but pre-labor. Contraction-wise, pre-labor would more or less be the same as at the beginning of early labor. However, pre-labor contractions get better when you take a 20min warm bath. So, maybe a warm bath can help you?
      Finally, things that have helped other women to progress in early labor are nipple stimulation, exercising (particularly birth ball exercises), relaxation (to prevent stress hormones) as well as reflexology. Maybe, you find the following videos helpful:
      Nipple stimulation, reflexology and acupressure: th-cam.com/video/8rehbupwhzY/w-d-xo.html

      Hello Iana! ❤️
      Please note that sometimes, babies only drop once labor has started! Admittedly, it happens more in second-time moms, however, it DOES happen in first time pregnancies too...
      That said, if you want to do something "more active" to help your baby engage, then you could try the birth ball exercises that we describe in this video (given that you are allowed to exercise at all): th-cam.com/video/UgrbOc4cebY/w-d-xo.html
      Maybe they help you engage your baby too?
      All the best for you and your baby!! ❤️

      Hi there 😊,
      many women have the problem that their dilation does not progress very fast, particularly, when the dilation starts very early (like week 36/37). But don't worry! The most important thing is that you go into labor spontaneously at some point, to avoid a medical induction. So, if your body starts to prepare early for labor, that's actually a good thing! 😊
      All the best for you and your baby!! ❤️❤️

    Is it possible to have silent labor? I'm 39 weeks pregnant and 1 week ago I was 3 cm dilated already and 50 percent effaced. These past couple of days I've been having tightenings and lots of pelvic pressure and lightening but nothing too painful and nothing regular. Can I possibly be dilating and not know it?

    • @CareAboutLittleOnes
      @CareAboutLittleOnes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there Sonia 😊,
      the short answer is: YES! 😊
      Many women are in early labor without even knowing, for example, because their contractions are very mild. OR because they have such a high tolerance for pain.
      However, even those women normally experience strong contractions eventually which come in closer and closer intervals and get longer over time. Again, we say NORMALLY, because we also met women who told us that their contractions in active labor "felt a bit funny" 😅 - far away from very intense pain...
      So, if you are having any doubts, call your midwife! Maybe they can check your dilation once more...
      In any case, we wish you ALL THE BEST for the upcoming birth, for you and your baby!! ❤️

    Does Braxton Hicks cause back pain and mild cramping in thighs and lower abdomen? Or are these more like early labor contractions?

    • @CareAboutLittleOnes
      @CareAboutLittleOnes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there 😊,
      although every woman experiences Braxton Hicks in a different way, what you describe sounds more like early labor. However, there is also a "pre-labor" phase in which contractions feel similar to true labor contraction, except their are not true labor.
      But there is an easy trick to find out: take a warm bath (20 min). If the contractions improve or even go away, it is unlikely that you are in true labor. If they don't improve, then it is likely that you are in true labor.
      We hope this helps! 😊
      We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby! ❤️

      @@zen_mindset1 You are DEFINITELY CLOSE!! 😊
      By the way, now that we know that you are in week 36, it could also be that - what you experienced - were "dropping contractions". It's not actually a term that exists in the English language. But we use it to describe something that - in the German language - is called "Senkwehen". Such contractions often happen around week 36. They can feel like to true labor contractions, but they are not. They only have one purpose: to help the baby drop. They normally last 2-3 days and once they are over, the baby has dropped...
      😊

    • @CareAboutLittleOnes
      @CareAboutLittleOnes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there 😊,
      it's difficult to say what it is you are feeling because at that stage, women feel all kinds of different pressure and pain.
      First of all, it is unlikely that you are in labor. For you to be in labor, you need contractions which come in regular intervals (initially, every 10-20 minutes and then they come in closer and closer intervals).
      The fact that your abdomen feels hard can be a sign of Braxton Hicks (false contractions) unless these "contractions" start to become more regular.
      Pelvic pain on the other hand, can be totally normal at that stage of your pregnancy particularly, after the baby has dropped. A woman may also experience pelvic girdle pain at this stage which means that it hurts to get out of a bed or out of a car, for instance. If it's getting too intense, please talk with your doctor!
      So, the best thing to do is: pay attention to the behavior of your contractions. If their pattern starts to change and if they become longer, stronger and come in closer intervals, then it is likely that you are going into labor. If you have any doubts, take a 20min warm bath and see, if the pain improves. If the pain DOES improve, it is unlikely that you are in labor.
      As always, if you have any doubt, please talk with your midwife!
      We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby! ❤️

      @@uroojhaseeb5181 Okay, well, this COULD also be a sign of pelvic girdle pain, unless the pain comes in intervals only. But again, this is just a guess. Only your doctor can tell you for sure where the pain is coming from... So, give your doctor a ring and explain your situation. We are sure they will gladly help you! 😊
      But yes, looking for those intervals, that's important! 😊

      Hi there 😊,
      there can be all sorts of reasons for what you experience. For example, many women experience such symptoms when baby is trying to engage (often over a period of 3 days).
      We do recommend though that you talk with your midwife about this because in very very rare cases, these signs COULD be signs of preterm labor (back pain and abdominal cramps). Again, VERY RARE. But since we don't know your pregnancy case, it could be relevant - depending on your pregnancy history.
      So, please have a quick chat with your midwife! Thank you!

    I had my baby girl 7 weeks ago and I didn’t know if I was in true labor till the doctor was talking to me about an epidural!
    I suffered from horrible Prodromal labor for 5 weeks due to irritation from my cerclage. I went to L&D about 7-8 times thinking I was in labor because I had all the telltale signs. My contractions were regular for up to 5 hours and got 2-3 minutes apart and then out of nowhere they would putter out….🤨

    • @CareAboutLittleOnes
      @CareAboutLittleOnes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there 😘,
      thanks a lot for sharing this with us!
      Prodromal labor is such a mean thing!! It is still unclear why some women suffer from it (because suffer is indeed what you do in that case). In fact, we are not so sure if it came from the cerclage in your case. We know so many cases of women who suffered from prodromal labor, although they had normal pregnancies' without any complications...
      The mean thing about prodromal labor is that you believe you ARE in labor when in fact you are not.
      But sometimes, prodromal contractions CAN transition into true labor contractions. And this is even meaner because you keep believing your contractions don't do anything, when in fact you are in true labor...
      There is absolutely nothing that you can do in such a case. You have no way of telling yourself, if you are in true labor or still in prodromal labor.
      We are happy to hear though that your safely delivered your baby girl. And we do hope that both of you are doing well at this point!
      We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️

      This is how I’ve felt with my second!! I’ve had three time already where I’ve been convinced I was in early labor and would tell myself “if this keeps up by X time I’ll call the midwife” and then as that time approached the contractions have stopped or spaced out significantly. I did get checked at my most recent appointment was I was at 3cm, so any mamas reading this and in this same spot thinking “this is all a waste” like I did, keep your head up and spirits high and your little one will be in your arms before you know it!
