I've watched I Racing videos before, but your video just look so realistic. It's not perfect, but its way better than what I am use to seeing. Awesome racing by the way. It makes me want to make the switch to PC.
Nice video! I'm starting on this Sim Race World and i started playing Race Room Experience. I really liked the game, untli i started playing multiplayer online game. The guys there don't think about racing clean. If they need to hit at your back to push you into a wall, to overtake you they will do it! That's the main reason im thinking about signing up at iRacing!
great video. I am a long time forza player and have been thinking of trying iracing. Im only really an average skilled driver so i have been reluctant up until now. This video really makes me want to give it a go.
Nice racing! I also won my first iRacing race as well and my second race in the NC MX-5 last year but I recently upgraded to a Thrustmaster TX Leather Edition and I don't have a shifter for it yet. Also, there is a good program you should download for iRacing called Trading Paints. It enables user made paints in iRacing for any car.

Absolutely. I think it's always good to hear the opinions and thoughts of the other drivers in the race and I would think they would be more engaging and interesting than your typical Forza conversation!
Yes, F3 is your friend. Read up on the 1,000 pages of new to iRacing etiquette stuff in the official forum. You also may want to adjust your field of view. Unless you have a very large 30" monitor or it is 3" from your face it looks like you are using a Forza, Grand Crapturismo style field of view. Most iRacers, even those with just one screen, use a realistic field of view. On my 24" monitor, 18" from my face and a realistic field of view of about 52 degrees I only see the instrument cluster and the right half of that A-pillar. You field of view is much too wide, which may feel like it helps when racing side by side, but trust your spotter and give a car length on side through corners. A wide field of view limits the ability for you to catch a spin or slide at its earliest. This will be important on catching grip in faster cars. Also, check the helpers screen. I think you have auto-blip on. Try adjusting that to autoclutch only. Also the sooner you get a wheel setup with clutch like the G27 or 29 (or better) the faster you will be. The auto-blip is killing your time by about a second per lap all else equal.
Congrats for the win, Super GT. I have just one advice for you and it is that instead of the lap information and all that stuff, it is better to set up Relative, with which you will know the distance with your rivals. Keep it going, nice stuff.
Welcome to iRacing. Couple of advices: The relative black box is your best friend. Use it! Also, I believe your field of view is too high. You should keep the monitor as close as possible to your racing wheel and set the field of view angle accordingly
20min races... I haven't played iRacing for 5-6 years I guess. But I remember they had a tournament with some F1 car on some NASCAR track. And my God. With all the new players who got the car for free for the tournament... They couldn't control it... And every time someone crashed, you'd do one of those slooow laps to let them clear the track (They might be a bit too realistic there)... And the whole race took about 4 hours :P
Congratulations on your first win. I hope you're having fun in what I consider real racing, that is what it's all about. You were very smart to practice as much as you did, even Greger Huttu still puts in a lot of practice time. In iRacing the blue flags are just a reminder, one is not obligated to give way. That sucks, but then again you now know that if you do come up on someone and they won't respect the blue flag, you know what kind of person you are dealing with. But Rookies is full of people still learning. I strongly suggest you use F3 throughout the entire race. You can also move those windows around, in your Options > Controls you can do this by using "Toggle UI Editor". Hey, you going to race the Mazda in the VLN?

Wow, the race can actually pass lap 1 without a crash wiping out half the field on lap one like in your Forza videos I've seen. I guess the irating system helps prevent that.
It seems to be a realistic handfull of fun. Starting in series with less power is a effective way to get use to the game and select out all these "i dont brake for anyone - guys". Still enoy your races. Keep on going with it! Regards from Germany.
Awesome job for your first race dude. Obviously a lot of talent will come and once you hit the higher levels you'll be fast. Just a tip with the MX5 and cars like it lift off the throttle when upshifting. It isn't like Forza you'll be faster doing it.
No worries! I know in forza with cars that would use a clutch in the upshifts it's faster just to hold down the throttle. In iRacing with cars like the MX5 when up shifting just lay off the throttle an once in gear step on it again. Some cars you don't need to do that however like the GT1, GT3 and the prototypes :) even the V8 supercar you don't have to!
Cool, will take that on board. It's just that in this first race it felt very weird to me to lift when using the paddle shifters on my wheel. But of course, I'm still learning so thanks for the advice.

They're actually releasing a shifter extension soon, so it can be down lower, closer to how it would be in real life. How are the physics, does it feel more natural than forza, i know you usually use a controller but hows the grip levels from what you have seen so far?
+im2fast4u711 Yup, the wheelstandpro is a great investment. It's good for the postioning and comfort but also for space saving. As for the physics, they feel better than anything I've ever driven and it feels very intuitive on the wheel.

+sevenbelow1 Yeah, was really good fun. I'm not sure on exact requirements for each 'graphic level' but you can see my computer setup in the description. I don't think the game demands particularly high end components to play. The wheelstandpro can go very low actually, the silver bar holding up the wheel can be lowered completely.

I played iRacing for 3 months. One of the better sims i have tried :). Pay to play tho... It's not expensive to start but it get's expensive once you get out of the rookie series. I only quit because of the oversteer issue btw. No way to save any kind of oversteer. Software would not let you steer fast enough. I've heard it got better tho :). This was around 2014 or something. Now. Guess i'll watch the rest of the video where all this is probably explained :P hehe.

+Merginator Cheers mate! You don't have to use a wheel but I would certainly recommend one for the best experience. There are races at set times throughout the day, it's not really like Forza where you join a random lobby whenever you like, it's a little more organised than that.
To get rid of all the white cars make an account for and download/run Trading Paints, tons of user-made skins you can use there too if you don't want to make your own or use the base ones.

Wow, this answered alot of questions from my part as I'm looking to start my Iracing career aswell... is it all online gameplay? Not sure if its a good Idea to play with minimum pc requirements as i've read that its best to have the recommended... gotta agree on the professionality of it tho, I'm tired of always beeing afraid of being hit from behind during onlinne races.
heyoo!! just got iracing last weekend! should be around the same time as you did.. the backmarkers went on fighting because: 1 - they didn't understand what is the blue flag; 2 - they do't have the realtive menu up. They would know the leader is behid them; 3 theory 3 they are assholes. I think Iracing gets better after rookie. Good luck!

Seems really good, it's great being free to think about things like feathering the throttle and letting the car settle, love all that. Never asked before, what did you think of the F1? I can't believe what happened to my dude Ricciardo, puncture in the lead! I think he took it better than me, he has got a point though, if they can do it once it will happen again.
+ChrisCaaa Shame for Ricciardo but it was very unlikely that he would have won the race. I think Mercedes are still a little too fast for Ferrari and Red Bull but it would be good to see them close the gap to make the races more unpredictable.
It's one of my fav of the new generation of tracks, you see outside passes which is always good to see. I've been asking what people think of the Seb thing at the start. When you see it from onboards you'd swear it was the other person at fault, but it was just a freak thing where you had 3 cars all in each others blind spot, strange timing.
I honestly think it was just a racing incident. Kvyat had every right to go for the move, yes it put Seb in a compromising position but not illegally for me.
I think so too, I was just watching the replay on the F1 app the other day and Kvyat was carrying so much speed into that corner, but I think Vettel was just pissed off because Raikkonen was there and he lost out. Had Raikkonen not have been there, it would have been an ordinary clean pass.

It's subscription based yeah. No idea how easy it would be to play with either a pad or keyboard. I think a wheel would always be the most preferred method.

+Trevor Stone The wheel feels very good in iRacing to the point where I wouldn't think a controller would be worth using at all. As for Forza, I never felt comfortable using the wheel on that game and I was always slower no matter how hard I tried.

Super GT I was a bit disappointed that the pitting system hadn't changed, they need to have pit crews, GT4 had them! (I think)
Yup, another thing that should be worked on. There should also be better fuel/tyre strategies, very basic motorsport principles.
Might want to use F3 key to see intervals to other cars instead of lap times in bottom right

I played iRacing for 3 months. One of the better sims i have tried :). Pay to play tho... It's not expensive to start but it get's expensive once you get out of the rookie series.
I only quit because of the oversteer issue btw. No way to save any kind of oversteer. Software would not let you steer fast enough.
I've heard it got better tho :). This was around 2014 or something.
Now. Guess i'll watch the rest of the video where all this is probably explained :P hehe.

Can you just join a race any time during the day or is there a set schedule?
+Merginator Cheers mate! You don't have to use a wheel but I would certainly recommend one for the best experience. There are races at set times throughout the day, it's not really like Forza where you join a random lobby whenever you like, it's a little more organised than that.

To get rid of all the white cars make an account for and download/run Trading Paints, tons of user-made skins you can use there too if you don't want to make your own or use the base ones.

Wow, this answered alot of questions from my part as I'm looking to start my Iracing career aswell... is it all online gameplay? Not sure if its a good Idea to play with minimum pc requirements as i've read that its best to have the recommended...

heyoo!! just got iracing last weekend! should be around the same time as you did.. the backmarkers went on fighting because: 1 - they didn't understand what is the blue flag; 2 - they do't have the realtive menu up. They would know the leader is behid them; 3 theory 3 they are assholes. I think Iracing gets better after rookie. Good luck!
Your driving suits iracing so much more than Forza SGT! Glad you've made the transition! Will you be signing up to VO8 #3? Or is that it after this season?

Seems really good, it's great being free to think about things like feathering the throttle and letting the car settle, love all that. Never asked before, what did you think of the F1? I can't believe what happened to my dude Ricciardo, puncture in the lead! I think he took it better than me, he has got a point though, if they can do it once it will happen again.
+ChrisCaaa Shame for Ricciardo but it was very unlikely that he would have won the race. I think Mercedes are still a little too fast for Ferrari and Red Bull but it would be good to see them close the gap to make the races more unpredictable.
It's one of my fav of the new generation of tracks, you see outside passes which is always good to see. I've been asking what people think of the Seb thing at the start. When you see it from onboards you'd swear it was the other person at fault, but it was just a freak thing where you had 3 cars all in each others blind spot, strange timing.
I honestly think it was just a racing incident. Kvyat had every right to go for the move, yes it put Seb in a compromising position but not illegally for me.
I think so too, I was just watching the replay on the F1 app the other day and Kvyat was carrying so much speed into that corner, but I think Vettel was just pissed off because Raikkonen was there and he lost out. Had Raikkonen not have been there, it would have been an ordinary clean pass.

It's subscription based yeah. No idea how easy it would be to play with either a pad or keyboard. I think a wheel would always be the most preferred method.
Is this footage online? I've only just got my PC and I'm thinking about getting into iRacing, coming from console all people do is crash into you and it's very hard to get into serious races.

Yeah forza is getting a bit stale, it's a shame there is so much potential in that game.
it's good to see you have taken the next step, i got my self a wheel for forza I don't feel it realy works well with the game.

+Trevor Stone The wheel feels very good in iRacing to the point where I wouldn't think a controller would be worth using at all. As for Forza, I never felt comfortable using the wheel on that game and I was always slower no matter how hard I tried.
