Jimmy at the start of the video: "Luckily for us in sim, pain does not exist" Jimmy at the end of the video: "and also like the wheel nearly took my hand off 4 or 5 times"
"I don't have to tell you that these cars aren't really designed to hit trees." ...as opposed to all those cars that are designed to hit trees, of course.
I love your content Jimmy, and I’m glad to see how far you’ve come doing something you enjoy. You’ve inspired me to decide to follow my dreams in motorsports and I’ll be purchasing a sim setup this weekend to start my journey!
Ahh, I used to do soapbox racing with my brothers on split screen Forza Motorsport 4. Cruise up to the top of Fujimi Kaido, slap the car in reverse and let it start rolling downhill. Those were fun races.
Having driven Mt. Washington several times myself, I feel this would be a great one for VR. The dropoffs and sense of impending danger really make the drive that much "better".
It’s honestly amazing that games add a place that I live 30 minutes from. I’ve been going to this race ever since I was young and now I’m gonna be able to drive it faster than before
I accidentally stumbled upon the event at mount Washington last weekend, wildly surprised Travis pastrana was there, had a bit of a fangirl moment. Disappointed we didn’t get there early enough to se his record setting run but still a cool event to watch
It was a fun video, but I'm a bit disappointed that he didn't go full crazy and do this in a NASCAR Cup Car. To me, there isn't a car in the game that would be better for yeeting downhill with little to no brakes.
I loved doing this with my bike back when I was a kid. Just rolling as fast as you can without using the pedals and trying to make the body as small and streamlined as possible feels awesome.
I've hiked and skied Tuckerman Ravine on Mount Washington. 60°+ pitch. It's a serious bit of sliding. It's only about 3 hours drive from where I live in Maine. Fastest wind speed on the planet was recorded there. So cool to see Jimmer drive it
I love soapbox racing. I was on the team that crashed at the soapbox race at Goodwood in 2004. The event was banned for nine years after that as a photographer was hospitalised and it was deemed “too dangerous”.
I see that bit of dirt threw off the tarmac specialist. Travis Pastrana climbed the mountain in a Subaru in about half the time it took for Jimmy to fall down it. Fun video!
As a New-Hampshirite, it's really cool to see all the mountains I've climbed/hiked in the background. This makes me wanna go to the hillclimb all the more next time
Personal scariest downhill moment: A friend of mine and I were driving to Arizona for work. We were in charge of driving the 26 foot long box truck. We were coming up a very steep hill, struggling to go faster than 65. I was in the passenger seat. As we climbed, I noticed signs warning us of a 6% downhill grade for 18 miles. During our harrowing descent, I asked my friend how fast we were going; to which, he hastily responded "82". I looked out of the window to see the guard rail, a few rocks, and a very sharp drop off to the canyon below. Don't think I've ever been happier to be out of a vehicle.
I always like to do a bunch of soapbox style runs first when I'm on a new downhill or in a new car, it's a good way to get used to the angle of the hill and the dynamics of the car while going down it
I had no idea they put Mt. Washington in iracing, that's sick. I've climbed up it IRL a couple times and watched one of the hill climb events, it's a super cool place
anyone thats been on the back country routes in Colorado knows this for real.. I was on a motorcycle.. best trip ever! more of this please... Your biography cannot wait to put that on my Xmas list :)
the Mt.Washington hillclimb record is 5 minutes and 44 seconds in an 826hp Subaru....you're not a million miles away from that time using a 0hp bathtub
I used to do these rolling down hill in neutral drives all the time back in rFactor like 10+ years ago, there were tracks where you could roll down hill for literally tens of kilometers...like Targa Florio for example was like 120 km's in total and almost half of that was downhill.
This type of racing is pretty big in South America. Lots of FPV camera videos on TH-cam which are really addictive to watch. Except when they reach an up-hill section and have to get out and push! :D
I actually drove up this in real life because my dad had a bike race up it (pedal bikes) on the way down the dude behind us didn't know you had to put your car in a low gear, his breaks were borderline on fire at the bottom. thought he was gonna plow into me at any moment.
mosty fun things, Mildly terrifying, near death experiences.... yup, sounds like street luge. this really reminded me of racing my street luge down a mountain pass :)
I can't imagine why, but all of a sudden I'm reminded that Gravity Formula One exists. Made by a street luge guy, as I recall, when he wanted to do something which was a little more of a step up.
One more comment, I loved how detailed they made nh, it really looks that gorgeous in real life. Even the haze in the air is accurate, plus the bottom is detailed to a T. The only thing is you would of seen all the spectators at the bottom and top. Nh is much more wild irl but that comes down to it being a racing game and detailing. (The woods are much denser.)
The iR-01 on soft slick tires is fine on the dirt, so, yeah iRacing has not figured out slicks on dirt too much yet -- the Vee on all-weather is fine, don't worry
FANTASTIC video Jimmy! What an imaginative idea. Super fun to watch (and I'm sure fun to drive too). iRacing, time to release an engineless Formula Vee for soapbox racing down hillclimb circuits. 👀 I'll subscribe if you do it! And Jimmy, it'd be awesome to do a stream where the SROL lads or the community race these with you! Also, such a creative way to cover new iRacing content (FVee, Mt Washington) in a way unlike everyone else. :) Don't have enough good words to say about this vid - it totally made my day! Thanks Jimmer. ❤️
This looks like it would be great for speedrunning. Finding the perfect lines and breaking points. Figuring out when to slide and such. The speed bump could probably be attacked at some special angle where it doesn't upset the car. Cool idea :)
I'm driven up and down mt Washington before and I live in the state it is in and I racing got this spot on it brings back memories of going up it and my mom screaming she is going to die. That day I also saw a Porsche and a McLaren driving down it to lol
This should be a regular addition to the channel now. Trying all the Iracing cars down the hill. And I bet we all are going to be doing this now. LMAO!

I felt that
yeah i love racing endurance with my team, in my dreams
Yeah there was no need to call me out like that
“See the mistake there was i drove into that tree.”
Audience *nods sagely while writing that down
"hmmm yes, don't... Hit... Tree..." Think I see where I've been going wrong all these years.
Any golfer can tell you that trees are 90% air. His mistake was that he hit the other 10%.
Quality analysis, Driver61 should pay attention.
Jimmy at the start of the video:
"Luckily for us in sim, pain does not exist"
Jimmy at the end of the video:
"and also like the wheel nearly took my hand off 4 or 5 times"
I remember those 100% FFB challenge videos in which pain definitely existed.
“What comes up, must come down”
Fortunately Jimmy doesn’t fits the theory
He’s only going up
"I don't have to tell you that these cars aren't really designed to hit trees."

"My mistake there was crashing into a tree" Amazing crash analysis by Jimmer
I love your content Jimmy, and I’m glad to see how far you’ve come doing something you enjoy. You’ve inspired me to decide to follow my dreams in motorsports and I’ll be purchasing a sim setup this weekend to start my journey!
Good luck 👍
Update us next weekend
Welcome to the family:)
Have fun!
Its more of a hobby for me, but its so fun my guy, you wont regret it
What a good idea! Looks like so much fun!
Ahh, I used to do soapbox racing with my brothers on split screen Forza Motorsport 4. Cruise up to the top of Fujimi Kaido, slap the car in reverse and let it start rolling downhill. Those were fun races.
Oh man! I remember doing this too! Good times!

After watching the intro all I can say is:
Not too many punterinos jimmer
Had a genuine laugh for the crashes, especially that bump out of nowhere. Regarding criticisms the only one is a wall more yours but it will get there
Love the GT2 music in the background. That soundtrack is engrained into my brain.
"My mistake there was driving into a tree." Wise Words , Jimmer
This happens when jimmy wants to show how creative he is. Brilliant video😉
He's not the one who came up with doing this
I don't care... it was super well done! My sincerest props to whoever thought it up, and my props to Jimmy for a great video.
It was a fun video, but I'm a bit disappointed that he didn't go full crazy and do this in a NASCAR Cup Car. To me, there isn't a car in the game that would be better for yeeting downhill with little to no brakes.
The Gran-Turismo'ish background music is a nice touch. Also we need to get Jimmy a shed to enter a soapbox rally with.
Not just Gran Turismoish, bur directly from GT2.
I loved doing this with my bike back when I was a kid. Just rolling as fast as you can without using the pedals and trying to make the body as small and streamlined as possible feels awesome.
Hi Jimmy, can you zoom out a little so we can see the wheel like you did in your shed?

dude, you're such a inspiration for us plebs, you make any ridiculous sim stuff so fun to watch! Hope to keep watching you for a really long time!
This is like those mad South American videos that pop up randomly in my timeline, where guys do this for real. Fascinating.
I liked the video just for you showing me that clip @ 1:06
Professional failures like that always make my day 👍
I think a good improvement would be a camera angle where we can see your hands and wheel 👍🏻

One of your best solo videos in quite some time, Jimmer! Well done sir, great fun. 👍

Me, playing Iracing: 5 seconds in the game *STRAIGHT UP DEAD*
Jimmer can officially put one of those "This Car Climbed Mt Washington" stickers on his sim rig
We need to send him one of these. What's his mailing PO Box?

Jimmy Broadbent is so badass, he rides down hills with the engine off… and wears rings as necklaces.
Everyone else : yes hillclimb , we go to the top!!
Jimmy : downhill spezialist go reee....
8:20 was the exact part I was waiting for....

The intro: *yeet*
Edit: it gets me everytime to hear *ROCK* right before the noise of a car getting demolished by one in Beamng
Went to the hillclimb last weekend where Pastrana smashed his previous WR! Absolutely wild watching him drift around just about every corner
I love how you casually put the Gran Turismo music behind your videos.
Your vids are so much fun, and comments here are too!!! 😂😂😂 Could have kept watching your attempts at doing a good time for another hour!!!
Jim.. Jimmy.. jimmerr, your amazing. I wouldnt change anything, but I'd love some more car building in automation!

i miss being able to see the steering wheel in the facecam can't lie
Formula Vee, on road tires, on dirt
Jimmer: *I fail to see how anything can go wrong*
The iR-01 on soft slick tires is fine on the dirt, so, yeah iRacing has not figured out slicks on dirt too much yet -- the Vee on all-weather is fine, don't worry
You should have this a series, like doing a new car every week, similar to the failrace hill climb in Borza
8:38 can confirm this bump is not designed to be traversed on the downhill 🤣
Edit: but trust Jimmer to show the way at 9:28
Used to do this in Gran Turismo 2;
Pikes peak downhill 2 player neutral race.
"rock" in the intro makes every video worth watching.
The GT2 menu music in the background is so soothing
this was so fun to watch please do a couple more on different tracks!!

I was listening to Roundabout on Spotify and the "to be continued" tune kept playing every time he crashed
Once a year you can bicycle up Mount Washington - The end just hurts .. but they don't let you ride back down .. You have to get a ride back down ..
I haven't been up the Mt. but I've driven around it. It's a beautiful area.
This is such a fun idea, sick driving too Jimmer!
Jimmer: normal people uses metric
Jimmer: MPH! MPH!

This is amazing! Jimmy Broadbent driving on a road where I grew up! THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER AND IM A 25 YEAR OLD MAN.
They even included wildcat ski mountain in the background good job iracing
Jimmer, Mt. Washington is about 4 hours north of me -- welcome to the East Coast of the USA (virtually, anyway)!
