I bought one of these when i started fitting tyres, countless times smashing it into steel parts on trucks, parts of suspension under cars and it never failed. One time i was undoing the big steel handle that you use to tighten the wheel onto the truck balancer, i hit it a few times to knock it loose like i normally did, and on the last hit it was BARELY holding tight so all the force that i used to knock it loose had spun around and the other end of the handle smashed right on the face of the watch, didnt break, didnt do anything at all, except probably save the little bones that would have been hit under the watch from breaking.
I have this G-shock , very affordable and looks rugged . I am confident about its toughness as some people wear it during their military service. I have just put a NATO strap and I love the watch even more.
One of my favorite G-Shocks. 7-year battery, world time, crisp positive display with tall digits, quality strap. I highly recommend this watch, esp. for people with big wrists.
My father bought me this watch on holidays in Spain when I was a kid. Still have it to this day only thing wrong with it is the strap broke. Great piece of kit especially at its affordable price point! Nice review man.
I think I'd prefer losing the 'city' thing and just going with a UTC offset. But I love this watch. I've beat the daylights out of mine for about 5 years and it's a total brick. As far as 'fashion' goes... I always wear 'fashion' because fashion is whatever I wear. I like the negative display because it's more discrete. This isn't a 'beater' watch. It's a 'this is my watch' watch.
I’ve owned the GD100-1b for a few years. It’s the all black with negative display. However, the DST indicator does “not” display. That’s what I get for buying on Amazon from a 3rd party seller. I’m currently wearing the Casio G-Shock GD-120-MB. It’s a great watch!
I’ve had my GD100 for over 9 years :) My only complaint is that the stock straps only last for 5 years before breaking. That’s why I modded it to have a NATO strap to hold it.
3-5 years ? I’ve had this watch since 2012 haven’t replaced the battery even once and it’s still going ! Was off by around 15 minutes when I found it in my draw the other day I had to adjust but other than that it’s just as the day I bought it 10 years later 🤙🏼

Thank you for this video ... I spotted this watch here in England UK for £55 GBP and for the money you CAN'T buy a better watch. Little known fact... Casio fitted more accurate modules in the G-Shock watches than the ones they use in budget watches like the Casio F91W and the Casio W86.. So they hold FAR more accurate time. It says in the handbook for this watch ... Accuracy +/- 15 Seconds a month... Let me tell you they are far more accurate than that. Summary ..YOU CAN NOT buy a better watch for just £55 GBP.
I just got this for Christmas the black on black GD-100-1B my only issue is I feel the screen is to dark overall I know it has the light but maybe because I’m not having this type of watch I’m use to something more easy on the eyes great video tho def helpful for me familiar with my watch
Awesome, great Christmas gift. Casio's negative displays usually aren't that great. The best negative displays they have are STP and MIP displays which produce a very sharp picture.
This watch is the first digital g-shock model to use super illuminator Led instead of the electroluminescent backlight, which pretty much every digital g-shock model releases after gd-100 uses. Sadly Casio never release a new model with EL backlight since.
One question: do 3 rounds showing signal, alarm and mute have any function (to light or be coloured when the mode has been chosen)? I don't see it in video...
@@degenerateWA it has been with me in waterparks, multiple places, countries, got into small accident as well. The g shock logo has worn out a little after i fell from my scooty on road while wearing this but everything else is fine. I remember i also took a competition with my friend who had a g shock of throwing these against the wall 🤣.
for me... This is the best digital watch in the market that sufficed all of my needs. 1. 5 TIME KEEPING I travel a lot. From Tokyo, Indonesia, Turkey to Finland. So I saved those different time previously, then when I arrive to the destination country I just switch my time with a single button without looking in the World Time menu again. If I pane to stay more than a year, I just switch the current saved time to be the main time. 2. 5 alarms yes... I am a moslem. 5 alarms for me it is like 5 warning sign. coz, y'know moslem prays 5 times a day.... (but most g-shock model now have 5 alarms) 3. illumination Light illumination Light, back light or whatever it is. This watch is damn bright... so bright, sometime I use it as a near mode spotlight. serıously, it is really helpful in dark. 4. Auto light. this is it. this is why I was impressed with this watch for the first time. It always helps me flexing. hahhahahahahha... with the illumination light like a torch, this auto light can be noticed easily to nearby friends. It makes you look so cooollll, you see... you don't need to be a military guy, or dress like a military guy. this watch brings you to the level beyond they can imagine. Hahahahahha, you swing your arm randomly it glows in the dark... 5. OMNİTRİX I bought this watch with black-green version. I just like an Omnitrix to me. (well, if you don't know what is the omnitrix, google it). İt is my childhood fantasy. fun fact : I had bought this watch in Taipe, then 2 years later I gave it to my best friend. I couldn't find any better watch. then I bought it again, the same model, same color, but from different country. I intent to keep it and wanna give it to my boy. THE OMNİTRİX.

Casios are workhorses. They will keep ticking way after you're sick and tired of them.

5 years is still very good for a resin strap. G Shocks and NATOs always look great.

Great info! EL backlight is what I prefer. Had no idea Casio doesn't use it anymore, very unfortunate.
They phased out the EL backlight due to the panel fading away after long term usage.

The circle for the function is either black or clear if the specific function is turned on/off.

This is the best digital watch in the market that sufficed all of my needs.
