THE SCREEN!! THE SCREEN!! Look how easy it is to see the screen!!! No murky , muddled, tinted obfuscation. I got one. I have others as well, that's how I know and appreciate the difference with this one.
Pretty much the nicest and most functional Casio watch outside of the G-Shock Line I have ever seen. Currently sold out on Amazon but Walmart has them for $33. I think I will pick one up.
i agree with you, however, cheaper casio watches tend to be less durable, ie their band brake after 1-2 years and replacement is problematic. but for casual beater case, these watches are great. you have to take case use and frequency into consideration vs budget.
Been using this watch for a month now. I have the grey version with a negative display, and its a beauty! Only issue being the Acrylic crystal, got two scratches with mild usage.
Thanks for the video! I ordered mine shortly after watching this video! It was temporarily out of stock on Amazon, but as soon as it was back in...I nabbed it for $33. I like this watch more than I thought I would. The display is nice and crisp for an LCD.
I'm a big fan of the DW-5600 G shocks and I own several. The big advantage of them is that you can replace the bezel if it gets beat up. You can also make a DW-5600 into a different color watch by replacing the bezel and watchband. Of course price is a big difference with the G shocks being more expensive, sometimes insanely so for special edition G shocks.
I recently bought the Casio AE-1000W-1AVDF. I paid $15 US dollars from Amazon for a used like new in a slightly crumpled box. It has the module of a Casio Royale with a round G Shock look. I got it because we will be driving from coast to coast through 4 different time zones. This has a convenient 4 time zone function. I have already ordered a canvas strap for it. At some time in the future I plan to mod it, probably color film over the World map and analog clock dial. Maybe hydro mod with Silicon oil. But I will finish our travels this summer before I risk disassembly. Enjoy your channel. We have a friend who a US Expat in Japan too. He teaches English to children in an expensive private school.

I particularly like that the upper left button looks like it is fairly easy to use. I have two Casios where it is recessed and I find myself using a pen tip. Great review!!
Since the mid-80s, when the first G-Shock came out, I've only owned them. My first one was the first US available model and I think I lost it in the early 00's by leaving it in a hotel room. My second one was killed by drywall dust. It got in behind the buttons and caused the contacts to become corroded. My third one is my everyday watch currently. It's a GW-500A. I think I'm on my second band. I don't recall when I got it, but it's been at least 10 years I also own the stainless dress watch. My wife bought it for me as an Anniversary gift about 5 years ago. I don't often have opportunities to wear it, but it sure is pretty. G-Shocks are the best watches and I wish they would make an Android Smart watch for me.
Meant to be pretty hit and miss unfortunately with most users liking the display but not mad on the health tracking features. Seems pretty basic but looks very well. It's a square too
i will always love my G-shocks.. 1st watches I had when I was broke. I still wear my black and gold g-shock despite having a Breitling as well.. thats dedication
I am a big fan of this timer. I use it to time my stretches, where the beep every 10 seconds helps me track time and stay motivated to hold my stretch. And the auto repeat is great for moving to the next move without fiddling with my timer.
Given the DW-5600 is nothing short of iconic, I can't see any reason to buy one of these over the true G-Shock 5600 when the price is essentially the same.
I scored a g7700 for around USD 45 equivalent in India.... So while this watch seems like a sweet deal, I would suggest waiting for a good deal to come along if possible. That said, i wouldn't mind going for SG100 over Gshocks, again if i get a good deal
great watch. I replaced the strap with a bracelet matching the casio royale and the watch took on such a character .... as if I had a robocop on my wrist 😉
Nice watch from CASIO and nice review! Hey Dave can you take a look on the CASIO MTD 1053 D? It goes for 50$ here in Greece and it's a Diver with similar specs to the Duro which costs 75$ here and it is a great alternative to that. It's 41mm. I have one and it's a really solid watch apart from the bracelet and with proven water capabilities during my last summer and i have yet to see a good review for it which is odd given the great vfm. Cheers, love your work!
This is a good looking watch with an interesting bezel, but I think the actual G Shock killer is the DW291! Looks like a cross between a DW5600 and an AE1200, costs around $30, with 200M water resistance!
This is still gonna be an amazing watch. Even though it is not up to the G-shock standards, it is a Casio and it is going to last. Just got it for my nephew and it looks very cool.
The watch is very similar and with the same features as Casio w-737h. You can mute the beep, you can choose the 5 sec autostart or not (plus have a time when you want it to beep when it reaches that time), you can set the timer in seconds, minutes, and hours too (some watches can do minutes to an hour). The w-737h can be found for less than $25
I think it's too thick for a non-G-Shock and entry-level watch. Being thin is actually a useful feature for a tool watch. Given that it lacks the robustness of the G-Shock series, it should consequently be somewhat thinner.
The countdown and timer extra features with the beeps and repetitions and intervals would work amazingly as a training running watch. Those are the features you need for training and some people download apps for interval trainings To me those alone would justify the purchase
The price here is almost on par with the DW-5600E so there is not enough reason not to go for the G-shock instead. $30-35 would make more sense for this watch
Not sure about other folk but I could barely hear the beeping unless I had the sound way up which meant next door could hear you. Minor thing. Interesting trade offs & the dual time function on the home screen is nice.
Great video man! I recently started this addicting journey like many people of collecting cool and very affordable Casio Watches and i have the F-91W on my list to pick up and i always wanted a G-Shock and this new model that resembles one might make me think about picking one up. For $40 it might not be a G-shock killer but it's definitely a better buy than cheap Chinese clone G-shock imitations out there.
the interval timer is actually amazing for Crossfit athletes, many wear g-shock in lieu of a fitness tracker the default beep at 10 sec left would make setting up tabatas easier too!
I have seen a (white gold) gold plated version (with metal white gold strap also) at a jewelry shop. It was near $200 and looks exactly like this one. Stunning in a word. Not real gold but it was sold out within days.

it would be nice to see Casio innovate and start bringing more modern module functionality. We have had all of these functions since the 80s and the cases the modules are placed inside are hit and miss.
These new Casios are a step up from the previous offerings and that is great and I think Casio are the king of budget watches. Having said that I have found that since I got a more expensive watch I am not interested in wearing a Casio at all any more.
I bought my girlfriend a Casio LA670WEMY-9. I think the watch is great and would wear it myself if it weren't too small. It has a special feature where you can set a one minute timer with the push of a button. If pressed repeatedly, the timer increases to 3,5,10... minutes. Is there a bigger Casio with the same function?
Oh man, if this watch had a vibration feature, i'd buy it in a heartbeat, alas, I'll stick with my w-735, even though repeating countdown is a great feature. Could use it as a reminder to take a break from work or as a hydration alarm, but Can't realistically have it beeping so often in a place where there are other people.
This is a cool budget watch my most recent g shock is the new GWB 5600SL-5. It's the dessert sand color one function I'm glad the included is while in timer mode the kept the clock time in the right top corner. Another thing I like is g shocks have a trimmer adjustment so you can speed them up or slow them down . The regular Casio digitals don't have it. Timex are trimmerless also .
Although this gets close, to me, it can't beat my customized DW5600, but that's because I don't use dual time, replaced the odd sunken button with a regular one that's easier to reach, and got a NATO adapter and strap. Aka, that's no 33$ watch anymore.. 😅

This video, despite having been posted some time ago, I think it is still very up to date. But I would like to raise a question. It seems that Casio's product designs that are not directly linked to the GShock line are more creative and have better taste in beautiful designs. Or not?
Although I only own 6 G-Shock watches, if I had to choose between a G-Shock and anything else at the same price, there would be no question about what I would choose...
Thanks for the information, great music in the opening , nice choice. When i saw the bar on the screen of the watch , i thought here comes the complicated timer (like LA670WGA) but so pity it is not... so it is not a GSHOCK killer but a cheaper version of GSHOCK LOL?
I don't think you mention enough times that you live in Japan... joke aside, your videos are very well put together, the lights, editing and content very professional! This watch is another winner, do you know if the DW-291 also has dual time? thanks!
hey, I bought this watch especially for work because I don't want to scratch my real G-Shock. I can say it looks great and is easy to read, but nothing more. It's not worth more than €39. I find it funny that Casio managed to get the screws aligned on the bezel of this $40 watch yet hublot has not managed the same yet
i don't think they're real screws here though, just looks like part of the resin case
Not even the Santos has this haha 😊
Found Nico Leonard's burner
Expected nothing less from a god tier brand mate. No matter how much their watches cost, hublot will never be on their level
@@arturoone77 IMO they lack functions
