not finishing school tells me you are SELF taught.
i taught myself 6502 assembly language in 2 weeks and THEN bought my first computer. I have no degree., when i left england and came back to the states (i grew up there) i literally INVENTED my entire resume. that was 30 years ago. I have holes in my education but I am always learning. I never let ignorance of something prevent me from doing it. it can go one of two ways. I can get it right and learn or i can get it wrong... AND LEARN.
i never learned hardware though.. just software :)

Being from the states I’m not familiar with CEX but I’m assuming they are like our ‘Best Buy’ big electronics retailer… in my experience with large places like that they end up not being able to fix anything without basically reselling you the same product except brand new to then offer you extended warranty that covers “repair and labor for repair” 🤣
It's kind of like your gamestop mate, basically a franchise with very little actual repair skill or ability yet they advertise "advanced board repairs" lol

I doubt they have any inhouse repairers, my guess is they just use local small phone repair shops that basically usually just swap LCDs and unlock/unblock phones and replace the odd drive on consoles. They probably just pulled the HDD out and tried a good one then gave up.

In ameica you might of heard of cex when they where charging nearly double the price for preowned ps5's, am sure they were about £850. I know channels over there heard bout it, spawnwave, mystic and other gaming focused channels
All ps4 controller have it my controller did blue light death
2:33 There a simple way around that those cheap HDMI splitters strip away the HDCP, you can connect one HDMI to your TV and another to your capture card and it will work just fine.
Or just turn hdcp off in the settings

Aye, you take something in to cex, they say come bk in 1 hr and when you return it's in the exact state as before. No evidence it has been worked on. And they say " we cant fix it"

Hdcp is easily bypassed
I went to DEX on my PS3 and decided to go back to CEX and now I have a slight problem with controller sync. I can turn on PS3 with PS button then the controller will lose sync so I have to turn controller off and then hit PS button again to sync. Any fix to this??? Thx

Hi, my PS4 pro overheats. I replaced the thermal paste & pads. Unfortunately no difference its still overheating. Maybe someone knows playstation 4 pro thermal pads thickness?

I'm trying to remove the PS4 Wi-Fi chip like in this video, I've used hot air at 480 Celsius for 10 minutes and the only thing that's come off is the metal cap, the chip itself won't budge.
In all of the videos I've watched hot air 3 minutes it just comes loose why won't mine come loose? Did someone else work on this PS4 and maybe glue it down?
I have an iPhone SE 2020, it fell off the top of a moving car. I replaced the screen but following that, it had the Apple logo and nothing else. Took it to a shop and they believe it to be the Nand chip, as I couldn't factory reset it. It's literally just sitting in a cup now, with the screen and other parts removed. Is a reballing of the Nand/replacement very difficult for these? I would love to get it working again.

hello i have i ps4 pro that came with eject bouton working only, i replace southbridge then i got power but the contoller get no sync in safe mode, i replace this chip twice from same Rev 1.0 any help ???
I have a ps4 that will completely shut down when switching apps, half the time. And lots of times it will say that the ps4 cannot start after trying to restart. Then I have to initialize it to be able to play again. I've done this a couple hundred times. It doesn't feel like it's getting hot, either.

Haha no worries mate. 2 reasons really, number one was security. The house is alarmed and full of cctv surrounding the property where as the shed wasn't, and the other reason was the cold weather lol

The scei can generate many failures, I had a slim that did not recognize any hard drive, I changed the controller and it was still the same, changing the scei the problem was solved
Yes I did forget to mention that in the video that the southbridge could also cause connection issues. I'm pretty sure if it connects in safe mode it wouldn't be the southbridge though
You can use a capture card on ps4 all you need to do is go into the settings of the ps4 and turn off hdcp

Unfortunately if you get no connection in safe mode it's probably the southbridge at fault or the NOR flash rom, rather than the WiFi module

Sounds like you have a standby issue. It could be the psu but hard to say without doing the diagnostics
again a PS4 that is repaired to as we can say, "rise and shine from the dead".. i said before i have a sort the same on an original 1216A, (did not fix it yet), only so now and then the controller do connect with the cable, i did put the login option to automatic login, so the ps4 logs in automatically, then if the controller does work, if i connect all 3 ds4 controllers i have, they than work all flawlessly and also with Bluetooth until i restart, to know if people have a Logitech steering wheel G29 (maybe other wheels to) this G29 does in my case always work also if Bluetooth/cable connection with the controller fails, but only if you did set it to automatically login, so i can navigate around in the software with the G29, and play race games only, if i am at the multi language screen loop the G29 does not work to...
a cheap HDMI splitter box will strip out the HDCP just connect after it.
Any ideas what else could cause this error code? I can't in stall the OS on a PS4 slim because of it and I've changed the southbridge twice and the wifi module 4 times

How did you know the balls were 0.76mm? Just from experience? When you first put them on they looked to small until you reflowed them

I would like to add one thing that maybe some folks watching may not know that if you leave the cap off of the IPA bottle it will absorb water from the air and eventually it will turn into 70% alcohol 30% water. It is important to cap the bottle.

Hello coder!!!, I have a pro that is seen with frames, at times only with heavy games, sometimes with light games nothing happens, I already reballed the scei, the gpu and changed the memories, and the error persists, I The only thing I don't have are the 2 ddr3 memories that the scei has and I haven't been able to change them, do you know if this is already a GPU problem?

I do not think the stores, like CEX, is to blame for this claim that the console was not fixable. I think this is something this is something which is brought on to everyone by the big corporations that you should not repair your items, you should rather buy new ones. I am looking forward to the day where repairing your items for a reasonable fee will be a thing rather having to buy it again.
Hi Phil great video, good to someone in the UK doing some quality vids. I have a ps4 pro 1tb never opened (I removed the stickers as I was going to have a go but thought better of it!) Would u b interested in it? Its exactly yhe same symptoms and I gaurentee its never been touched apart from taking the hdd out and putting back in!)

Iirc for consoles at least, they send it off to an actual repair place and just charge you more. For Manchester cex its a place in Liverpool, you can actually go to them direct to get it done cheaper (unless it's under warranty ofc)

@BigStevie well no. The job was the controllers not connecting he fixed the job he was paid too do. Optimising and updating software is another charge he did not want to pass onto the customer clearly.
Wrong Steve, my job is to fix the console and only update it if the customer requests it, and if they're paying for the extra time it takes. Customers can update their own software at the click of a button with a step by step official guide from right on the dashboard, my kids know how to update their software and they do not watch repair videos or have any interest in repairs. Also, the PS4 up to firmware 9.00 is exploitable. The customer could be using an exploit which is their choice, and their right as the owner. It is not my right nor anyone else's right to take away that option for them
Watching guys like this make the solder work etc real simple. Not the diagnostic obv but when it comes to trying urself u end u with a broke chip,solder all over the board and scorch marks everywhere with melted ps board . lol..oh darn.
