I wonder how the bed could be separated for two people? Doesn't look like there's enough room! One video on the Mardi Gras a person showed a shelf next to the bed which they said could be for a CPAP system with an AC plug below! My brother and his wife are going on the Mardi Gras in June 2022! They will be in a balcony on deck 11.
I went with RC (Allure) once and the rest was always with Carnival. I like mega ship. Similar to you but the other way around, when cruising with Allure I always have Carnival in my mind set. In my opinion, RC exceeds in shows and in ship facility while Carnival is good with the fun vibe. Though it sounds a minor issue, but I really like the tea time (complementary in dinning room) and the big set sail party only available in Carnival
Was initially excited about the Mardi Gras being a affordable alternative to RCL mega ships. That tiny buffet is one of my big concerns. Reviews I’ve seen mention it appears as if they had already run out of room by the time they got to placing the buffet on the design plans.
At the end of my cruise review for the Mardi Gras, I had the buffet listed in an "afterthoughts" section. I was thinking the same as you..they figured out that they had to have a buffet somewhere and only had a little bit of room left on Deck 16 so there ya go. It could be a very calculated move on Carnival's part to move people into the regular restaurants on the ship where some of them are not included in the cruise fare and will generate additional income. For us, it was a strange blend of Royal Caribbean (proper buffet) and Virgin Voyages (all restaurants and no buffet). Great video! We look forward to our Mardi Gras cruise in September 2023!
Thanks for the comment! :)
How was the front of the ship? Was it choppy
We were closer to mid-ship. It was nice. The ship didn't really move too much during the cruise.

The bed configuration was either set during booking or online check-in; I forgot which one. Thanks for the comment.

Carnival definitely has a lot of perks, especially on the Mardi Gras.

Btw..have you been on one of the Oasis class ships from Royal Caribbean? Just curious.
