    Hey Topher! I'm currently in the US military and I'm about to leave my duty station here in South Korea soon and I'm leaving here to visit home (Grand Rapids, Michigan) before moving to my next station. Watching your videos and reviewing cars really help me make my decision! Love what you do and keep up the good work my man!

    I wish Mazda had you going up a long hill on a freeway. Even though it is unreasonable to expect full speed up a hill at capacity, this is where those who tow have trouble

      ^ youd think that would be the first thing they try to tackle

    • @NeoNoggie
      @NeoNoggie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think this would have any trouble going up hill with 3500 lbs. A lot of trucks have less (or similar) power than this, weigh more, and can pull 5k up a hill. This is most likely limited by the stiffness of the chassis, but not power.

    • @AIGeneratedUser
      @AIGeneratedUser ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NeoNoggieyeah I agree with you. I think 320 lb/ft at that low of rpm would be just fine

    I like how they used a bunch of uhaul trailers with a wrap on them 😂 I pulled a small Forrest River R-Pod R172 with my 23 Cx50 tpp last week over 2500 miles. It really does pull well, but one thing to note is the fuel economy will drop pretty fast, especially if you have a strong head wind (dropped from about 23mph to 6mpg). Trailer weighed in around 3000 lbs with cargo. Went to a cat scale and got my total combined weight (7550) which was about 250 lbs under the maximum allowed value of 7800lbs (in the owner’s manual for combined vehicle, load, and towing weight), and much like this video said: you really don’t feel the trailer behind you other than fuel economy and stopping distance.

    This test is particularly relevant as the trailer shares a suspension design with the rear axle of the CX-50.

    With AWD a lot more rear biased in tow mode, it'd be the most fun if it was accessible somehow without a trailer.

    I'm lookkng at this car but it's just a little on the small side and the towing is a little on the low side. Everything about it is just a little bit short. BUT if they let you buy this with a manual, I'd overlook EVERY shortcoming and definitely buy one. I don't know why everything has to be automatic these day.

    The car I was looking at compared to this was Honda Passport. Which I ultimately bought because I found a actual good deal on one with low miles so I jumped at it. Do these compare as closely in my head as I think they do or is there some pretty major differences between them?

    • @PaoloFrancesco99
      @PaoloFrancesco99 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm just another guy in a similar position as you, but here are my thoughts. The Passport seems to be a much bigger vehicle. I imagine it has much more headroom, and the cargo area is bigger and higher. The 6 cylinder may not have as much power as the Mazda turbo, but Honda's 6 cylinders are really great engines. Our 11 yr old Odyssey is still smooth with great power. The CX-50 definitely wins the cool award. It satisfies my desires for Mazda's sportiness but also has more room than the CX-5. I think of a CX-50 as a slightly larger CX-5 with more utility, while maintaining a reasonable amount of sportiness. The Passport wins for towing also, as much as 5,000 lbs with the towing package. I think of the Passport as the replacement of our minivan (and a cooler one at that), and the CX-50 as the next replacement for our sedan, i.e. our smaller vehicle. So I'd like to have both for our family but I see them as different types of vehicles.

      @@PaoloFrancesco99 i don’t own a passport but you’re correct regarding the head room. In 2019 i sat in a passport and had an awesome amount of head room. I am 6’4 for reference.
