My gripe is I bought a CX30 a month before they announced the turbo model 😅 But I am def replacing this old equinox commuter I have (which I hate) for a cx50 or cx70.
One of my favourite designs for Mazda's lineup, I really like what they did with the new CX-90 with the turbo inline 6 with their new 8 speed. Also the Mi-Drive also has a hidden Tow Mode, but it only presents itself when a trailer is detected with the 4-pin/7-pin connector plugged in.

I have the Wildpeak At3w on my 2015 Tacoma. Great in the snow. Used to have Hankook Dynapros . They were ok at first in the snow but terrible in the rain.
I noticed the same thing with the brakes on my wife's 2019 CX-5, the pedal travel is insane compared to my Mazda, a 2016 6 sedan. I would LOVE to be able to afford a CX-90 with the 340 hp turbo six someday.
The brake pedal feels significantly different on the CX-50. It's a hard press and takes more travel to bite. The CX-5 brakes are very touchy by comparison.
Great review and well done Mazda! The CX9 was always a homerun which made it hard to get excited about the Cx5. Having seen a few on the road this is a wonderful evolution. As an Outback 3.6 owner I would 100% test drive this before buying a Outback XT , especially given I know 100% I would have to put 2-3K into the Outback to get proper handling and grip...
I help build this car in Huntsville, Alabama. I love how tactile the buttons and knobs are. The Bose system rocks. I'm sure with off-road tires, it could be more capable. I remember an article where they thought the only SUV that handles better than it is the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT. This sucker punches above it's weight.
Thanks for reviewing the CX-50; I hoped you would eventually get the opportunity. I've driven a couple while my CX-7 was in the shop, and this will be my next vehicle this summer. Initially, I was leaning towards the Meridian, but as I understand, there are a few differences, with one being the wheels and tires. Incidentally one loaner I drove had the Mazda roof rack and it's incredibly loud. I have Yakima on my current car and will be installing the same on the CX-50.
I had thie cx50 as a loaner and it definitely drives like a car. I would be interested in getting this or the upcoming cx70 when it’s time to replace my mazda3. I’m definitely a mazda fan. I’ve owned 4 Honda’s but left them when my last car’s clear coat started peeling after two years and then Honda switched to cvt’s. Mazda’s are definitely better handling and just “nicer” overall. Test drive a Mazda if you are shopping for a car and you will see and feel the difference in comparison to a Toyota or Honda.

Hi Sarah. Mazda has been working on upgrading its image to just below the “luxury” segment and I think they are doing a bang-up job. Excellent and entertaining review, as always. Thank you, Sarah. 👍👍👍
If you actually sat in the CX50 and CX5 like I have, you would realize the CX50 interior is actually a pretty big downgrade from the CX5. I could even list out the reasons why.
@@michaelp.3485it's basically the same as the CX-30 - I like the climate controls and console area better on this platform, but I feel the way they do door controls and handles is cheaper and less functional. Little things like that. Also, get an Amazon seat cushion, a thinner memory foam one.
