I remember the day that was filmed. I'm the artist in white overalls painting diligently in the background. God I miss those days on the square. So happy I stumbled upon this.
OMG! This is the greatest video ever! It has a ton of legends playing together. Glen David Andrews is playing trombone, I think her name is Dorzeen singing. She is currently on Royal st every weekend and I see members of her band. This is a classic video with tons of legends. Thank you for sharing.
uncle norman batiste drums. Paul Kemnitz guitar. Hiro on banjo. lawrence ketchens tuba. eddie bocage horns Doreen Ketchens clarinet, Seva Venet guitar Keith "Wolf" Anderson trombone
Oh WOW thanks for this! Our favorite band in N.O. This was before Katrina when the musicians who lived in the old projects still had their homes. After Katrina the gov't boarded up homes that weren't even damaged, bulldozered them with peoples' stuff still inside, and built fancy condos for rich people. Of course hundreds of thousands of blacks couldn't come back to N.O. because their homes were GONE. Horrible! This is the way I love to remember New Orleans, when the REAL PEOPLE were still there.
Great video of a much loved local musician (who left us too soon) doing his thing with friends. The guitarist standing next to Seva Venet is Eddie Tenderloin, who plays regularly with Doreen at Royal & St. Peter Streets.
That is Doreen on the clarinet and vocals. Wolf on Bone, that isn't GDA on the bone, but this is an amazing lineup, I am glad you caught it and filmed.
God bless New Orleans and all of those Street music players my childhood friends and specially big tuba fat big Anthony played in that movie JD revenge right around the corner from my house my childhood friend may God bless him🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I'm pretty sure the trombone player is known as "Wolf" but not sure I recognize him without his sideburns. And that standing guitar player I think is Paul. He used to jam with Ancestro and other street bands.
I have a video of Doreen Keetchins playing in front of Rouse's where she holds a single note for 25 seconds. Try to sing a single note for 25 seconds and see how far you get.
Anthony (Tuba Fats) Lacen is seated most of the time in this video and is playing an all brass sousaphone. The fellow standing and playing a fiberglass (white) sousaphone and tamborine is Doreen Ketchen's husband Lawrence.
Man that kiddie can play! Doreen is fabulous. Can anyone tell me if Uncle Norman Batiste is related to Harold Batiste? Don't know if spellings are right, but guess it's a common name down there.
I think Tuba Skinny, under the lead of Shane Cohn on cornet, have captured the old sound of 1920s even better than these guys. You cannot think of them as Bad by any measure. They are a delight to most old timers.
Not bad, just a different style. Tuba Skinny band went back to the old records, Tuba Fats had years playing in many bands all of his life - it all shows in the music, it is all jazz, all good.

Her name is Doreen and she is quite famous now, even played on Jimmy Fallon

Thats not Glen David, that's Keith Anderson, AKA WOLF, on trombone
I love me some Doreen Ketchens clarinet.

Yes most of these people are gone now. R.I.P. Tuba Fats 2004.
@@GooglFascists my regrets, didn't find all of this sooner... 😥
Doreen on clarinet and singing,
And the greatest short note! Wow!
God bless New Orleans and all of those Street music players my childhood friends and specially big tuba fat big Anthony played in that movie JD revenge right around the corner from my house my childhood friend may God bless him🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Doreen on Clarinet and vocals, Seve Vinet seated with guitar, Glen David on Trombone,
Nothing like New Orleans, no place like home.

Wolf at “The End”. He passed recently and we’ll never see the likes of him again.
I think that most of the tuba (sousa) playing is being done by Doreen's hubby Lawrence Ketchens.
Please let me know if that is correct. If so I mislabeled this as Tuba Fats.
Anthony (Tuba Fats) Lacen is seated most of the time in this video and is playing an all brass sousaphone. The fellow standing and playing a fiberglass (white) sousaphone and tamborine is Doreen Ketchen's husband Lawrence.
Kevin Mueller
The big guy sitting down is Tuba Fats alright.
Cool cymbals!
that off-white Rolls Royce that rolled by 3:05 was probably Allan Toussaint
I'm related to him

Revive n, ahhh!
Uless I'm mistaken, that's Todd Burdick playing banjo , before he became known as Tuba Skinny!
Ian Lambert, yeah I had always thought TS was just a joke on names like, Memphis Slim, Guitar Slim, Guitar Red etc.
Doreen Ketchens on clarinet
Is it just me, or does anyone else think Doreen's kinda hot around this time?
NO RELATION TO TUBA SKINNY. THEY'RE GOOD. BUT SOUND, BAD
I think Tuba Skinny, under the lead of Shane Cohn on cornet, have captured the old sound of 1920s even better than these guys. You cannot think of them as Bad by any measure. They are a delight to most old timers.
Sorry, I meant Shaye Cohn
@@trescatrevor Todd Burdick, who co-founded Tuba Skinny, used to play with Fats. I think that's him playing the banjo , his first instrument.
Not bad, just a different style. Tuba Skinny band went back to the old records, Tuba Fats had years playing in many bands all of his life - it all shows in the music, it is all jazz, all good.
Todd is not playing in this group and as far as I'm aware of, never did.
