The stuff we hear in this video requires a true sense of melody and the ability to produce melodic variations on a theme. Post Bepop solos really do not require those abilities. With Bepop solos, you can get away with going up and down scales provided you use a good swing eighth rhythm, hit chord pitches on the beat, throw in a few triplet figures and melodic jumps of an octave or a fith, and ocassionally mess with the listener's expectations by playing grooups of 5 or 7 notes. Healthy to hear REAL Music made by Humans!!!
no rap
Don’t support Lisbon’s
I hate when all these new 'music artists' refuse to put real, traditional instruments, and instead put on some electronic slop, calling it 'music'. Not music, just a five dollar software with a few beats and thumps.
so damn true ❤
So awesome! The dancing couple, the dog...awesome! Made my day🙏❤️🙏
I think Ewan Bleach is amazing. If you don’t listen hard you will miss all the subtle nuances in his playing. Having said that they are all great.
Wow I thought I recognized him. He plays in the uk band whisky moonface. We supported them once in the woods in the middle of nowhere!
Shaye, it was wonderful to see you smile and to know that you were happy during the playing of this tune.
They made it to the Newport Jazz Festival this year! Wonderful band!
Excellence! And I agree, the couple dancing was the best! Pure JOY!
Shaye is so talented it is unbelievable!! Any music she is involved in invariably makes me happy......THANKS !!
Just when I am sure that this bunch has reached their peak of amazement in my eyes, they come up with this wonderful arrangement! I think it's their best yet.
Curtis & Barbara Powers uh, that’s Duke Ellington’s work.
I so love watching virtuosos. Everyone, everyone of the eight of you did a really, really good job. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world here on TH-cam.
This is pure joy!! I agree, Thank you all for sharing the joy of music. I never get tired of hearing this.
Outstanding! You guys are just great! Much appreciative for keeping this great, original American music alive at such a high level! Love, love, love you guys!!!
This is as good as it gets. A classic performance. Trad jazz at its very best
This is tight. I'll say it again: this is tight. Everyone of you guys are dedicated. Thanks for posting
That couple in the background is adorable.
It's so good to be back in the Roaring 20s 😁💕
It truly is magnificent
Yeaa!
Right where we should be
Yep. Stealing the black man's culture all over again. Feels good man.
Well, we are about to have another Great Depression.
The world needs more washboard solos.
Now that's music, and that's playing. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.
It needs to be mandatory that every city have multiple bands doing this on multiple blocks. Imagine how much better the world would be
Amen! 😄👍
What a great freaking idea 💡
But then there’s always that one person trying to get attention and ruins the fun :(
& ME TOO, AMEN
Until the bill came in a local taxes rose astronomically
What many don't realize is the humble tuba in the back keeping everything together and in tempo.
So cool and nice! Greetings from Brazil 🫶🏻
Serious photographers would instantly notice the soft, mellow light spilling out of the shop (an art gallery?). The band looks as good as it sounds here.
Such a happy tune from a bygone time. Use listening to this brings joy to my heart. Well done by talented musicians
Apart from all of them being premier league musicians, this outfit has that great “string” section. Even their slow numbers swing.....oh, and at least two of them sing very well in Ericas absence. You do not need a good reason to visit NO. This is the best one.🥰
Add another old man to your fan list..., and this tune is one of my favorites that you do. Makes me feel good as I prepare for surgery tomorrow. Wish me luck.
I just love the clarinet player, he is soooooooo good!
and he's BRITISH!
You know not what Good is
@@deusvult8251 Please, the clarinetist is awesome for this Dixileand Music.
I am sure he can play Mozart Concerto in A major for Clarinet as well. He's that good.
Extraordinaires musiciens ! ....clin d’œil du Québec, Canada
Sending love to you Quebec, from British Columbia. ❤
you're possibly right !
That is a very nice comment!
And this band is playing some very hot Dixieland. Everyone is really listening to each other and tying it all together. Great solos and fills by all. And I love Shaye’s happy leg, tapping out every beat. You just know the music is coming from deep inside this person. Keep it up!
Thank you Tuba Skinny! The most beautiful music with all of you as one 😍😍😍from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I love the way she holds the band together, improvisation conducting playing, outstanding
it's the tuba holding everything together. She just happens to be sitting infront in and in the middle. Alot more going on than what meets the eye.
@@meta4282 Wrong. It's the washboard guy.
joyful soulful cheerful its what makes life go round loved the rythm in their music so beautiful
I love it when the musicians enjoy playing their music as much as I enjoy listening to it!
It don't get no better!
What a wonderful ensamble of awesome gifted musicians!
@@Michael-bf1dt poor Michael
What a group of dedicated musicians! We are so fortunate to have entertainment like this! Baseball, hot dogs, Apple pie, and Tuba Skinny!!!👏👏☝️
Lem Briggs
Hot dogs are ruined for me, I've read too much and I no longer eat unrecognizable meats
I am feeling old city, old people, old history when hearing this old music, jazz. Greetings from korea. God bless them.
they have just been getting better, both individually and collectively- so fine to see them at their prime
Every city of any size should have one of these on a street corner somewhere, just lurking.. Love youse guys!!!
One special collection of individuals forming a group
I love you guys! On this old cornet players bucket list: Wife and I jump in our RV and travel cross country and look you up on the streets of New Orleans!!
Old school tunes with a great band. The couple in the background dancing is a hoot!
Brilliant. And the couple dancing down the street was perfect.
MAN, I love this sound! I wish St Louis would relax their Street Musician regs. Nothing like a busker band!
Saludos!
the joy of the couple in the background is just priceless!
Let’s bring back the roaring 20s by getting all the jazz music videos and people who have jazz music channels on TH-cam popular!
This is how many like jazz music
⬇️
People naturally like beauty, including in art and music, people have to be trained to like ugly lyrics and ugly styles of pop music. As multinational corporations push dead music, people will create their own good music
We need to have more jazz musicians too!
That’s what a call beautiful music!
Go to www.wdcb.org Saturday mornings 9-10 am CST for their show "When Jazz Was King" and enjoy! Or 90.9 fm if you're lucky enough to be in the Chicago area.
Ya like jazz?
