"Maple Leaf Rag" is the epitome of "Rag Time" and Tuba Skinny plays a wonderful rendition of "Maple Leaf Rag". I love those two ladies who have stuck with "tuba Skinny" all these years.

I am sitting at seventy-three years of age. Had wonderful parents that loved a large assortment of music. It is so great to have groups like this to listen to when so many radio stations have their little set of songs that they play over and over and is nothing more than top ten tunes from whatever persuasion they choose. To much wonderful music to listen to to be stuck on "gits" only stations.

I've just played this again (in September 2022) after listening to more up-to-date TS videos for the past six months or so, and I can honestly say it is absolutely wonderful. The intonation, and the togetherness of the band are spot on, and it seems to me that in the seven years since this video was made they have remained constantly superb in what they do. It is no wonder that we are all still listening to them more than ten years after they were founded.
If the band is reading this, I have one thing to say to you all: Keep up the good work.

I have just recently discovered Tuba Skinny and I can't get enough of them. Tell Shaye if she is not married, here I am. But one thing I will never understand is how people can walk by completely oblivious to this outstanding music. I guess there are those who are so wrapped up in the daily little messes they call their lives, they haven't the time to appreciate those things that make life so wonderful. I feel pity for them and for those soulless 75 who voted thumbs down.

    • @PolyDuff
      @PolyDuff 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

For someone who tries to present themselves as enthusiastic about art and open-hearted, it's more than unwise to assume that other people, whose worries and struggles you don't know, live a bad life just because they dare to walk past a band you happen to like.
You need to learn that there are people who think differently from you and that this is completely acceptable.
You are trying to portray yourself as a positive person, but in reality, you don't seem any better because you try to impose your opinion on others.
This is very unfortunate because you seem to have a fine sense of art, but at least with me, you lose all respect with your negativity.

Tuba Skinny! I saw one of their street performances last time I was in New Orleans, and I've got the CD to prove it :D They're the epitome of what makes New Orleans such a unique and wonderful city; it is just saturated with music and joie de vivre, ready to embrace fun anywhere and at any time.

@@johnrowley8055 Me, too. My grandfather was an infant, at that time.
I grew up on his love of music and "Hi-Fidelity". ~ From Sousa and MacNarmara to almost all Claasical, (for, me).
Opera, not so much. ~ It's all about the bass! My ears don't do high octaves. Preferring male vocals, too.
And I love and appreciate all the music that he, and then, my late parents, grew up on, too. Like, Swing and throughout the "War Years". The *Greats* from the Big Band Era, ~ oh my!
      I love Music History.
As I push 70 y.o. though, it's almost like music stopped being historical, or of major significance or quality, back in the late '80s, and into the '90s - at some point. I D/K when!
It was OK with Rap, until it went Gangsta ... and the rest of the industry seemed to devolve, too. About the same time.
But, then, I was fortunate enough to have seen The Beatles, @ 13, in 1965!
      (I haven't followed it for the last 10. - I Can't ⛸ anymore.)
I just thought it odd my late husband (/Silent Gen.) disliked his older parent's music so much. ~ Being a musician, himself. But, I'll Pass on AC/DC and ABC "Twangy".
But, these folks are as much a pleasure to run across👍as the *Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain*! ~ Sure to brighten any day, time, mood or SITU!

MUSIC that makes your ♡ SING, your Spirit SOAR and your feet want to Move!
A New Fan to this Top of the Line explosion of 'old roots' to Dixielands BEST "styling," expressed so exquisitely!
