@@vankhang7968 as a tech repair worker, I have to disagree with you to some extent, in that many flagship Chinese and Western android phones are very interesting and intricate inside, and how many creative approaches they take for internal component organization.
It's great to see that Sony still manages to make a phone that's pretty much modular compared to others who solder all the components and call it a day.
Pues por lo que se ve tiene una construcción estándar y a la par con otros gama alta. Lo único modular a destacar es el conector de audífonos y el USB C que viene en un flex.
I remember it was in 2012 when I bought a sony phone . Model was xperia m2 . The phone surprised me that it didn't need repair of any parts. The screen, battery etc is still working now pretty well . That's why sony is a unique company
Sadly this doesn't apply to the Xperia 5 series since the 5ii. You are lucky that the Xperia 1ii doesn't have a defective screen by design. 5iii and 5iv have the same issue and most of them are going to have a dying screen after 2 years. As Samsung don't want to fix their defective screens, sony may even discontinue the 5 series due to their extremely low second-hand value (where Samsung continue to sell their factory defective 5ii/5iii/5iv screens at crazy inflated prices, which is the main cause that the second-hand value of 5 series phones completely crashed. A replacement screen literally cost higher than a fully functional second-hand Xperia 5ii).
Thanks you for First Xperia 5V disassembly video. Sony Used Most bigger Vapor Chamber on Xperia Pro under display. Can you see it if there's any vapor chamber except Graphenes?
Please make a teardown for Xperia 1 V I've been waiting for that video, also I want to take a screenshot to the internals once the back cover is removed to print it out in a case.. so, it would be so much appreciated if you give us a chance to pause the video and take a snap to the phone internals. thank you
I will have it done within the next few days, so stay tuned. If I am able to and remember, I will try and take a high res photo of the phone with the back removed.
Thanks. Not sure, either they previously planned for a larger speaker, or its for sound diffusion not too sure. Yeah I usually sell them locally or list them on ebay as disassembled units.
Thanks. It's not bad, not the most durable phone but uses good hardware parts. Cooling needs work in my opinion, I'm not a fan of those thermal pads/thermal compounds sony always uses.
@PBKreviews Ok, thanks. I use my soundcore q35 headphones and some times buds live, and they both make your intro music louder than the rest of the video.
3D graphite (layers of graphite) comes close to basic vapor chambers, but depending on how extensive a vapor chamber is, it will perform better than just graphite.
Many Xperia 5 users, 5II, 5III & 5IV, are suffering from the green/pink lines issues. Most of them are using Asia model. So would you please tell us what is the screen model of 5V? As we known that, 5V is using entry level display, as same as Xperia 10. Thank You
Since I didn't pry off the screen, I didn't get a chance to see the back of it to know the model of the screen. You can check this listing, but I'm not sure how much info can be extracted from those pictures. rounded.com/sony-xperia-5-v-xq-de54-display-module-lcd-digitizer-a5064800a.html
@@PBKreviews I got it. Thanks for your reply ^^ Coz Xperia 5 series, from 5ii to 5iv, with green/pink lines issue on screen. Especially, in Asian model. Therefore, many users are suffering/worrying by now. Anyway, thanks for your video 😃
A Xperia 5 series owner here, 5 II to be specific. I have got 2 green and 1 pink lines for my phone so far, and Sony in my city (Hong Kong) is taking zero responsibility for such a serious matter. I will not buy any more Sony phones despite their insistence on keeping the headphone jack and the SD card slot. I have brought 5 Sony phones (7 if Sony Ericson phones are included). I have to give up after all these years. I tried to deal with Sony HK with no avail. When the first line, a green one appeared on my phone, the Xperia repair in HK was recently (from 10 July 2023) subcontracted (again) to Telecom Service One (TSO). I did made a few phone calls to Sony before going to the repair centre. The Sony (definitely not TSO) representative on phone was extremely unfriendly and sound annoyed. I guessed he had to deal with numerous such requests which Sony told him to say “no” to every single one of them. He said that such issue has to physically checked by a repairman before a free repair could be granted. I went to the TSO repair centre, and representative there said I should find Sony for this matter first. No one was taking responsibility… The customer experience should have been better for such an expensive product from such a premium brand. TSO (and Sony) were trash. Xperia repair in HK was subcontracted to TSO from 1 February 2016 to sometime (probably in April) 2021. Sony took the repair work back for a while until it was given back to TSO in 10 July 2023. During the first TSO contract, I send my XZs for repair. I notice screen detachment in the lower right corner soon after I got back my phone. I went back to the repair centre and the TSO representative said my phone was bent, and I had to pay for the repair. The phone was straight for a better part of a year (warranty period). How come I would bend it in a matter of days. The TSO repairman definitely bent my phone in the repair process. I did argue on phone with Sony representatives on phone a few times and I got free repair for that. I mean, Sony could have done the right things with the 5 series, but they are not doing it. My story with my 5 II could been different if Sony was doing repairs on their own. I have heard stories from Taiwan that free repairs were granted the 5 series. Also, there are currently no fewer than 3 Sony stores in the city. Sony could have done repairs on their own. Hong Kong is not a remote place that repairs must be subcontracted to a third party like TSO and uBreakiFix. It’s an extremely densely populated business hub.
@user-nd4ip1xv5m Thanks for your info., I intent to buy Sony phone because it still keeps phone jack that I like, but will not now. I live in h.k. too, I disappointed with it some times ago when I bought its headphones wh-1000mx3, I was terrified how it's poor in sound quality, I sold it out and bought a second hand Shure one, a Germany band, which is so good in sound quality
@@PBKreviews If they are indeed compatible that will be huge leap regarding minimizing E waste and very helpful to the consumer by reducing spare parts prices ,the Xperia 5 V has the same dimensions but it got HDR 10 upgrade so i dropped from the comparison. What a pain in the ass to disassemble this. Kinda makes me remember Z5 - almost the same idea for the Screen - you need to remove glass backplate and everything behind it just to replace the screen. XZ1 series are much better in this regard - need to replace screen? Then just remove screen. About shielding on the key components (Chips), do you think it is possible to gain any thermal gains (make phone's thermals cooler) similar to CPU de-liding? Thanks
You might get some better performance replacing the thermal paste with better ones or possibly replacing the 3D graphite with a copper vapor chamber that would fit in that cut out and not be too thick to press against the screen and frame.
@@PBKreviewsThank you for the reply and awesome video. Was it hard to remove the shields on Sony? Have you used heat gun, or it was just graphite on top, like with Samsung devices?
it has removable shield covers which clip into place and can be pulled off. You can use your nail or a small tool to lift up from one edge to pull it off but be careful not to damage components nearby with a tool.

Im using Xperia 1ii & sadly 40% of my screen in the bottom side mostly turned yellowish is there anyway to fix it?
Most likely would require a screen replacement
is it possible to replace lens cover without disassembly rear cover ?
yes, just apply heat and use a razor blade or x-acto knife to pry off the glass lens cover.

What is the purpose of the curved depression on the metal frame?
Not sure, they probably planned for a vapor chamber to be there but later went a different route.
