I think it’s super important to know that you’re passionate about work but if you go through a period of “I’m working to pay the bills” you can find fulfillment in other areas of your life! I loved this video and it is so helpful! I am a full-time college student and I'm a nursing major and I also just applied to some jobs for the summer as a summer job, so could you make a video where you talk about your experience being in college and working? I'd like to know more about saving and budgeting, because I'd like to save up for a car, I currently live with my parents so I'm grateful for that so no apartment for now, but I'd just like to know if you have any tips and advice for college students as far as budgeting and saving for big things like cars/apartments, etc!

    • @JuliaKristine
      @JuliaKristine  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can try to make a video about my experience working while in my program - what specific questions do you have about it!?
      Also I'm not super knowledgable about saving/budgeting, so I may not be the best at giving financial advice! I highly recommend Carter Sullivan's videos for content like that!
      I can definitely still make a video showing how I budget and track my spending/expenses/income, but it might not be the best hahah!

      Honestly as simple as it sounds.. practice! 😊 At the start of my program, I would practice my routine with friends or my boyfriend - introducing myself to the patient, explaining the exam, etc. I promise that it gets better with time and the more you do it, the better you'll get at it!

    Hey Julia! My Ultimate goal is to become an MRI tech! What do you recommend doing?? Get into MRI right away or get into Radiology first and work my way up to MRI?
    Getting into MRI directly will save me time but not sure what is your opinion on that?

    • @JuliaKristine
      @JuliaKristine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MRI is both a primary and post-primary pathway, so it's entirely up to you and what your end goal is! I chose to pursue x-ray first because I wasn't fully sure what modality I was super interested in/if I would want to stay in general x-ray. Also, programs for MRI only are not as common (especially around my area), so you may have to do some further research on where you can apply. There might be an online option through a school in AZ? I know someone who went through that program.
      During my second year in the program, we were able to shadow in ultrasound, mammography, nuclear medicine, PET, CT, MRI, and interventional radiography to see if we would have any interest. I chose to work in general x-ray for a year after graduation, and I personally loved it! The clinic I worked at was slow, so that's why I decided to find a new position to train into CT & eventually MRI! I also work in x-ray at this clinic, so it's nice to be busy/be able to help out in all 3 modalities

    • @JuliaKristine
      @JuliaKristine  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll just answer your questions in a comment! I’m not comfortable sharing my pay rate. If you search “radiologic technologist pay in *your state*” you will get your information there.
      I work 40 hours, 8-5 Monday through Friday at a clinic. Hospital shifts will vary. Personally, I would pursue a career because you have passion for it and love it, not because of the pay rate.

    • @melissawu8285
      @melissawu8285 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Radiologic technology program instructor here: Salary and job opportunities will depend on the state and licensing requirements in the state you live in. In the Bay Area California- clinics and hospitals pay differently due to the scope of the job. In general- outpatient clinics start around $50/hr and hospitals are more per hour. There are also shift differentials and a per diem rate.

Then doing my research and writing my dissertation in a pandemic! ARGH. I dated some but having any other social life was impossible. So, I have a lot of loans. I do not care! Education is worth the money, and the feds aint never getting that money back coz I am over 50 and I will be dead first LOL.
