    My program is 24 months and a failing grade for us is 78 and under. But I just had my last day of my first quarter! I definitely psyched myself out thinking it would be extremely hard, but I managed to pass with A's! To anyone reading this it really is not difficult if you just study!

    As a Radiologic Technologist since 2007 to all of you aspiring Technologist Do it! There is a huge demand for us! And its not getting any better. Also If you are having trouble getting a job after getting your ARRT , consider moving . Today I travel twice a week to different states to educate and train Technologist and I can tell you from personal experience after visiting hospital after hospital There is so much demand
    Good Luck future Technologists!

    I love your videos! I’m currently a second year student. I find that there’s not many videos on TH-cam about x-ray..there’s a ton of nursing ones it’s about time someone makes some about x-ray! 😊

      @@JuliaKristine just out of curiosity, I have no experience in the medical field at all whatsoever. But is the xray tech imaging school a trade? Or certificate program? And there isn't Sat or Act test required for it right? Just high school diploma? Or GED?

    • @JuliaKristine
      @JuliaKristine  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You will likely need to have an ACT score and high school diploma to apply to most colleges, but you will have to research that for your specific school. There are radiologic technology programs offered at four-year universities for a bachelor's degree, or a two-year degree at community college's (which is what I am pursuing) for an associates in applied science degree.

    This was so useful thank you! I’m going to be a senior in high school and am looking to do this for a living but could not find any specific insight into the program so this was very useful! My school offers a lot of the prerequisites as dual credit so once I graduate I will have all of my prerequisites completed.

    Your videos have saved this girls life! I am a first gen college student who hasn't had anyone to turn to. I truly went in to my college experience blind and have had to adapt & learn as I go. These videos have helped me navigate this process. I am proud to say that I just got my official acceptance into my program a week ago. With my excitement also comes nervousness, but thankfully I can watch your videos to know what to expect moving forward. Thanks for putting in the time & effort to help people like me!

    My program earned me a bachelors degree! I went through 1 year of prerequisites and 3 years in the program. It was 2 years focused on X-ray, and then the last year was a modality (mine was MRI). I stayed in X-ray clinic once a week, and the rest of the week we had MRI clinic. The University of Iowa offers an online AS to BS degree if you were interested in furthering your degree in MR, CT or CVI! Otherwise there are always jobs out there that offer cross training!

    THANK YOU for posting this video! I have been searching for a good TH-camr or videos for rad techs, and you’re the first one I came across! I am currently applying to a program in Colorado that sounds very similar to the one you are currently in (: in our application process they go off of grades, an essay, employer referrals, character reference referrals and a panel interview of 8 judges! I just got the call at the beginning of the week that I got my interview, so fingers crossed all goes well. But I loved your video and found it very informative. And I look forward to watching more radiology videos from you! (: once again thank you for posting content like this!

      Ohmar I just found out that I have been accepted! But they asked me a lot of behavioral based questions. Like why I want to be in this program, how I prioritize tasks, what type of people or personalities do I find hard to work with, what I think my greatest and weakest traits are, why I think I deserve a spot more than the other candidates, and they asked about any healthcare experience or volunteer experience

    • @Soychica13
      @Soychica13 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im stuck in between going to the army like you did or just do community college to become x ray tech. Was it more difficult since they’re cramming in more material in a shorter period of time? Did you have to do the same pre requisites?

    • @bethanyrose9026
      @bethanyrose9026 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Soychica13 this is late and a little different than your question. I was in the air force and became an ultrasound technician rather than mri/xray
      I would definitely have chosen radiology in the air force if I could go back though haha
      But I liked having the hands on experience the job gives through the military. Tech school was definitely tough because we had to learn so much so fast, but I definitely found it to be worth it. I like having the military experience background and I was able to immediately get a job working for the VA even before getting registered, since they knew me and knew that I could do the job already. Really depends on what path you want to take though. Army is probably a good bit different than air force and physically also, you definitely have to be even more fit. (If thats a concern for you)

    Currently in my first semester for rad tech. I'm reeeeeeally glad I was in the military before doing this. A lot of my classmates get really stressed out about things and I'm like, "... Really?" Then again, few things stress you out after having to hand someone's arm back to them or perform first aid on a collapsed lung by using some tape and a plastic card. XD

    Hi Julia☺️ your videos are soo helpful and informative! I applied to the Radiology program at a nearby community college, and just found out I have an interview next week! My question is did you have an interview process for your program, and if so, do you have any tips on standing out and gaining admission? A more specific question I have would be did you bring any documents such as a resume with you to your interview? Hoping you see this!! Thank you in advance either way 🥰

    • @JuliaKristine
      @JuliaKristine  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Haley! I mentioned in this video that I did not have an interview process as my program was solely based on grades. My advice for an interview would be to go into it as if it's an actual job interview. Possibly look up nursing school interview questions to prepare because they may be similar! I'm unsure if it's necessary to bring a resume, but it wouldn't hurt! Best of luck!

I currently work in a hospital for Transport so I'm around the environment everyday and have been the last 6 years. So I'm trying to figure out which area I want to go into, I would love to do Ultrasound but the schools around me are super expensive even though I get reimbursement through my job, but I would also not be able to work while I would do that program, and I have bills to pay lol.

    Thank you great video, you’re convincing me to not be afraid I keep switching my majors Rad tech is one of them. Something that put me off some time a go was the radiation exposure in the room someone talked about it in their video I’m gonna try to find it, would you say it’s safe and nothing to worry about?

    • @JuliaKristine
      @JuliaKristine  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your radiation dosage is monitored by a dosimeter that you wear at your collar at all times, and we take precautions to protect ourselves by wearing lead aprons if we're going to be directly in the room or in fluoroscopy/surgery with the c-arm. But to answer your question, yes it is a safe profession.
