    I love how you show the behind the scenes of radiography because I feel most people aren’t familiar with it. For someone like me who is in the same field, it’s nice to be able to relate and see how different each facility is. I am taking my CT registry soon as well and would love to see how you’re studying for that. Great video as always❤️

    Hi! I’m a current xray tech looking into ct or mri! I was able to rotate through CT as a student but unfortunately i was never able to rotate through mri so idk if I’ll be interested in it or not. Either way, i know how ct works so if mri is anything like that i think I’ll like it. Can you make a video over the pros & cons of each modality? So i have a better idea of which one to choose 🙂

      Hey! I can try to do this - any specific questions you'd like me to answer? A lot of the places I rotated through had their CT techs also be registered in MR, so you could always do both if you were interested! I do both in addition to xray!

      All of that information is on the ARRT website! www.arrt.org/pages/earn-arrt-credentials/initial-requirements/postprimary-requirements/education-requirements-postprimary/supporting-category-requirements
      CT is considered a post-primary modality *only*, so you have to have credentials in a supporting discipline (radiography, nuc med, radiation therapy, or sonography). After having those primary credentials, you can either:
      1. do on-the-job training (which what I'm doing!)
      OR
      2. take an expedited online CT training course and then find a clinical site
      MRI can be a primary OR post-primary modality:
      For primary:
      1. attend a specialized MRI school
      For post-primary:
      1. obtain your primary credentials, then do on-the-job training

    • @JuliaKristine
      @JuliaKristine  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're synonymous! Radiography is sometimes specific to just x-ray/radiology, whereas MIT sometimes can refer to a person that is trained to do multiple modalities (ex. x-ray, CT, MRI, dexa, etc). The terminology kind of just depends on your region/country that you live in

      @@JuliaKristineoh I thought you said it at 7:50 btw, do you do IVs? are Rad Techs the one who injects for lumbar punctures and some catheter like a long tube that is inserted through a vein or sometimes inserted through nose? (i dont know the exact term lol) and as a Registered Radiologic Technologist (Bachelors, 4 years of schooling) do hospitals expect Bachelors in Rad Tech to rotate through all modalities? or can you choose only one modality like general x-ray?
      SORRY for asking too many questions I'm just having a hard time deciding on what's good for me and I know you can help!

    • @JuliaKristine
      @JuliaKristine  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@asianboy2177 Yes, you have to start an IV to do the contrast injection in CT/MRI.
      The Radiologist injects into the spinal column for lumbar punctures. The rad tech just assists with the fluoro tower and set-up.
      We do not insert nasogastric tubes - nurses insert these. However, we do get called on portable chest/abdomen x-rays for NG tube placement.
      That will depend where you work, but usually you only work in one modality. This will be outlined in the job listing. Modalities require more training.

    hi i want to know if theres a risk of being infertile from working as radtech, because you know, you are always exposed in radiation

    • @JuliaKristine
      @JuliaKristine  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's actually not true that you are always exposed to radiation. As a CT tech, I am always behind a lead lined protective booth. I have only ever had a very low reading on my dosimeter once since working at this facility and that's when I was covering in x-ray and had to hold patients. Any time a tech has to be in the room to hold, you have to wear a lead apron, lead thyroid collar, and your radiation dosimeter at collar level. Surgical techs, nurses, anesthesiologists, surgeons, etc are all exposed to radiation on a daily basis too when they're in surgery cases requiring a c-arm.
