Surprised you picked for Ford considering the press ban you received. Bravo calling it the way you think and not crying like Roman has been. My only issue with the Ford is that they don't offer push button start/proximity entry in the lower trim levels. You have to get a Lariat (with Ultimate package) or above to get it. Ram made it standard in every trim.

Ram is on top I never thought they would be but god the comparison of quality is a joke Ford cheaps out on a lot. They also seem to over engineer everything. My time at ford as a auto tech this is a different topic but those eco boost are horrid. Also for some reason I saw terrible issues on their 1 ton trucks with steering components. Now working on trucks I clearly see the difference in quality. Also ram gets a bad wrap for their hemi lines with the transmission jokes or lifters. Shit I’ve seen lots of hot shot guys i service at Chrysler ram with well over 300k and no issues on power train what so ever! Obviously you’ll have you’re regular wear and tear with running something hard for a long time but as for power train the ram talk on trans and hemis, 6.7’s. Is pretty much a slang and a myth.

@@charleshanson6512 Payload is a bit north of 2400 pounds. I have the air suspension and love it. Standard height has the bed slightly higher than the cab. Alternate trailer height has the truck completely level, I use this for towing. And the low height helps with getting the ball under the hitch coupler. You can't actually drive in this position. The air suspension also make for a better ride. And the Mega Cab is the bomb! So much room and the back seats actually recline a bit. Great when we have company camping.

Considering as well it probably cost ford about 20k to build it. They get a discount on the materials cause they buy so much. Also they go to the cheapest bidder on a lot of materials and parts. A lot of the build is done by machines. Then you have the dealers profit on top of what you pay to Ford Motor Company. Manufacturer should sell directly to customers. But that won’t happen. CEO makes just under 20 million per year. And that’s just the CEO. One person. You still have maintenance on the plants. Employees. Taxes. Who pays for that? The consumer. But if you got the dough, then have at it.

@@Gypsum-pro I will try and clarify a few things surrounding truck pricing/profit etc. Industry estimates are that Ford makes an average of $10,000 per F150 sold. Average dealer profit per truck runs between $1000-$2500. At dealerships I have worked for we often sold trucks for invoice minus holdback (3%), leaving about $1,000 front end profit (from volume incentive and floor plan rebates). If we did the financing we made money from financing, warranties and other products. Ford pays line workers between $16-$40/hour plus benefits which can run as much as 50% of the hourly rate. Recently Ford invested $6 Billion (money coming in from the profit on the vehicles they sell) in more machinery in their North American plants alone (this does not count existing machinery) Machinery has to be purchased, maintained, repaired and replaced when newer more efficient models become available. At any given time Ford and other manufacturers have rebates of between $2500-$14,000 so paying sticker price is very rare. The average vehicle sold in the US in December 2020 was just over $40,000 for the first time ever. That is for all sales, not trucks alone. Trucks are more expensive than the average vehicle by a large amount. I do not work for Ford, I am retired after 45 years in various areas of the auto business, wholesale dealer, leasing company owner, general manager, used car manager, leasing manager in new car dealership. Trucks and SUV's are over 70% of vehicle sales nationwide so someone is paying the prices for them

Dodge last built a truck in 2009. The RAM 1500 was the Truck of the Year in 2019 and the RAM 2500/3500 is the 2020 Truck of the Year. They must be doing something right. iwanaGoFast2010 heck no! GM trucks feel cheap, small, and lacking in visibility the moment you hop in a ford or ram of a similar year. And from working at a mechanic shop, it seems like every older gm truck has at least some kind of noticeable steering slop or front suspension issue. I see way more brake line issues with gm trucks, and GM’s frame coating just seems to melt and peel off after a year or two. 15 year old ford’s and rams have less frame rust than every 4 year old or newer GM truck I’ve seen/worked on. The rancho rear shocks are always good and rusty too even on newer trucks. And although I have yet to see a major failure on a 5.3 in my shop, it’s not too comforting to see an engine that used to take 10w-30/5w-30 now recommend 0w-20 for 2014-present. And every newer 0w-20 5.3 I pull in to the shop seems to have juuuust a slight valve train tap. I could probably take a good guess as to why lol.

I was close to pulling the trigger and ordering a 2020 Ram 2500 Mega Cab 6.4 and trading in my 2016 F150 but 2 simple but common sense things kept me from the Ram. (1) Come lake / summer season, I'm stepping in / out of my truck box constantly packing things up for family trips. I can always trust my stable and secure "Man Step" in the F150 tail gate. The Ram just has that dinky little corner pull out step. One summer with the Ram, I would probably end up on the ground with a broken ankle / leg, or cursing myself for not buying a Ford. Watching different TH-cam reviewers over the years, they almost always demonstrate getting in / out of the Fords using the Man Step. But watching the same reviewers review the Ram trucks, they kick out the Ram step just to show what it looks like, then just kick it right back in. You never see them demonstrate its use with themselves getting in / out the Ram's box. Hmm.....why is that? (2) I'm a 6'5" tall Paramedic. My right knee is about 1/2" from the Ram 2500 Hemi dash when sitting comfortably and about 1" away from the dash when sitting right up uncomfortably. In the Ford Super Duty, my knees are a good 3-4" away from the dash. I know if I get in a frontal crash impact in a Ram, my right knee is going straight into that dash and I will have leg injuries. My legs will have a safer chance if ever in a crash in the Ford. Ram should of put a bigger redesigned cab on the 19/20 Heavy Duty. I have a 2020 velocity blue Ford F250 Lariat 7.3 Godzilla with the trusty "Man Step" on order right now and will be happy I bought it over the Ram.

I use the step on my Ram almost daily. When the tailgate comes off to install my sander in the winter, I still have my step attached. When I need to get into the bed with my 32' camper attached, I can still use my step. How about that "man step"? Granted, the same step can be added to the Ford, but the step is great because I don't need to drop the tailgate to use it.

6.4 hemi is the better option currently. 7.3 has developed lifter issues just like the LS engines which it copies in design. 8 speed ZF is a 1000x better than Fords 10r140. Very very minimal issues with those ZF 8 speeds. The most I’ve seen is valve bodies due to the tcm being built into the design. 10r140 has rear planet issues (recall), CDF drum issues, and valve body issues with valves sticking due to clearance issues (bore wear, cheaply made valves), manufacturing defects, crossleakage, etc. 6.4 hemi has a stainless steel designed exhaust manifold hardware so it’s not susceptible to the typical 5.7 broken exhaust stud. So far I haven’t personally ran into any 6.4 hemi cam issues however I have heard of some happening. Same design as the 5.7 hemi and the lack of lubrication is the major cause of premature cam failure and lifter failure. I personally love both my Mopar trucks and my super duty pickups but the numbers are so close I’d much rather have a 6.4 gasser than a 7.3 simply due to the trans issues with ford. If it’s was 68RFE behind that 6.4 I’d choose a 7.3 10 out of 10 times. That 8 speed makes a major difference. Ford trans/diesel specialist for 4 years, Cdjr diesel/trans tech for 3 years.

@Car&Track7 Most motors were awesome back in the day. As for today I like my Ram and will never by another Ford. I had all 3. Ford, Chevy and Ram. And since I owned all 3 gives me the upper hand on my opinion. I'm Not a one brand guy. I once had all 3 brands sitting in my driveway until I got rid of the ford.

Do a follow-up video where you go the the plants where the engines are built and have the engineers or technicians explain the features of their engines, and why they went the way they did with their engine choice for each vehicle.

Well, I bought a new HD Truck and sold my great running 8 spd. RAM 1500 Quad Cab (sad to see it go). I think RAM has nicest interiors and ahead of the curve by comparison. Maybe the 6.4 Hemi needs an update (more hp&torque). Bravo FCA, but no more Quad Cab available. So, I went with a Chevy 2500 LT Club Cab with Z71 package. Too bad as well that Ford makes a suicide door Supercab (that format is passé in my opinion and much shorter door than GM/Chev Club Cab). I like the quiet and strong 6.6L gas with 464 lb. ft. Torque and getting 16 mpg (US) when civil with the pedal. I also like that I have 3337 lbs. payload capacity (more than these two demonstrators), and the 82” long standard bed. It fits in my garage too. I like the AutoTrac (an AWD version) for winters/other and keyless entry and start button. But, everyone makes a good truck nowadays depending what you “need” or “like”. Plan to keep it +15 years so that’s why I added Cosmaline undercoating and some Xpel on many body panels.

Fun fact, you can get the 6.2 gas with either the 6 or 10 speed still.the f250s with the 6.2 get the 6r140, the f350s with the 6.2 get the 10r140.

Be prepared for the gas mileage. If you are good with 13-14 mpg's driving it like a car on the highway, I'm sure it will be a good rig. If you tow a lot you're going to stay in the single digits.

Clearly Fiat and Ford have both made excellent trucks in these two cases.

I am liking the 2019 Ram Bighorn/Lonestar I have. I drove a 2019 F150 Lariat for 6 months before getting the Ram 1500. I was shocked at what you get for a much better price with the Ram than the F150 Lariat. I know the Big Horn / Lonestar is basically a decked out XLT model. I have been very impressed with the 5.7 Hemi over the 2.7 Eco boost over the last three weeks i've had the Truck.
If you're wondering why I am not driving the F150 anymore... It is because I had 3 transmissions replaced before 7k miles on it, and just recently completed a buy back. So I tried the RAM because it was more affordable. The prices on these trucks once you start getting into the features you want gets really pricey.

Didn't pan out so I tried a Ram. The 10R80 Transmission was faulty on that truck. I got a lemon. So instead of paying that 56k for the Lariat I decided to go much cheaper since Covid-19 hit my area back in March. I am not a fan boy by any stretch. I am just speaking from personal experience.
