Thanks!!! It's a pleasure 😊! I like and use both TMM and NMM; every model and story need a different approach and style and a good painter should be able to paint both (especially because they are the same thing with or without metallic pigments 😅). But for gaming I definitely prefer True Metals for how the light adapt naturally to the movement on the battlefield
Also NMM takes fucking forever. I thought when I got my High Elves I would do the whole army NMM. I finished like 2 characters and a banner before I went "lmao nope. Back to true metals!" Still use NMM to paint banners, though.

Reminds me of your tricky of tinting metallic colours with inks. That stuff works like a treat. I love the colbalt effect on the highlight. Gives that petrol/gunmetal look. Love it.

this is great, you can apply the concept on as complex a method as he does, but you can also simple it down to get a better finished product, great tutorial.
I don't really like the normal stormcast models and the schemes usually used by GW, but whenever people convert them or try a new paint scheme, I thunk they can become some of the most striking and visually interesting models out there. You've done a great job on the models and I will definitely be trying out TMM for my next few models!

Per i pennelli la marca ovviamente va un po' a gusto personale, ma buoni per le miniature sono quelli di martora, meglio ancora se martora Kolinsky (è proprio una specie di martora, non la marca). Se hai un negozio di belle arti dalle tue parti sei a cavallo. Tipo i DaVinci o i Raffaello vanno sui 3/4€ e sono ottimi. A me piacciono i Winsor &Newton Serie7, costano un pelo di più, ma durano un botto e si ripagano in pieno

The first layer would work well for some creatures I am making for d and d. They are creatures made of possessed/necromancer controlled ink. The first step looks like ink from pen with the shine. Awesome.

Awesome stuff! I love NMM but do think it's disproportionately emphasised by youtubers/bloggers because they tend to be more 'pro' (+ as you say, it looks good in photos/video). It's fantastic to see skilled coverage of .. what DO we call it? MM? TMM? maybe JBM? (Just Bloody Metallics)
Also, one thing I really think I struggle with that you excel at is your (not sure the right term) colour selection (colour gradients?). Would love to see you do a video covering great colour combinations that really pop. I know you've covered colour theory - but I mean something more like a 'cookbook' that shows several sets of swatches that make great 'gradients'. e.g. for todays vid; base=decayed metal, mid tones= blue/black metal, highlight=black/thrash metal, lowlight=those contrast paints etc etc
Totally agree; to paint a good TM or NM you need the exact same skills, steps and understanding of light! NMM works sooooooo much better in video and pictures but in person can be often disappointing. It's a very interesting idea and can definitely be an extension of what I plan to do for the series about colour theory... Thanks for the feedback and the idea 😉😊

Sure! Btw odourless is always the best choice to work indoor. It's "Batoline Low Odour White Spirit", but I just buy the cheapest I can find, they are all the same 😉
amazing metallic works. And this is a great way to paint an army, as NMM for armies is too time consuming, and not worth the effort. This is the way to go! New Sub btw!

Thanks a million!!! Next week I'll start a new series all about brush painting and mixing colours 😊 perfect timing 😊. In this case with metal paints is very easy to replicate the effect; it's just a simple layering of tones, you need only to fade a bit the edges of the layers and the shine of metal will hide easily every crime 😉
My next army project will have a bigger focus on metallics, the problem I worry about is protecting the paint since they will be handled and used for gaming, any finish I put will just kill the metal paint job. Would love to see / hear your input on sealant / varnishes for miniatures, especially ones that contain metallics and how to handle them. I really like using matte finishes normally but just trying to think ahead to the best approach.
Man ..... I just stumbled onto this. I just started the hobby about a month ago, never painted before in my life and I was doing metals and getting some texture unlike the other non metallic colours so I figured I’d do some research. Though this dosnt help me because I don’t own an air brush, you are absolutely deadly with that thing buddy 🤯🤯🤯 it makes me want an airbrush but I figure I gotta learn to crawl before I can run right? Molotov acrylic paints is my secret weapon, I got a molotow shop 20 minutes walk from me. Their sulphur yellow is a real pure yellow not orangey

I really want to do chaos emperors children with black metallic armor and matte pink broad surfaces. If you could do a video on black or dark metallics that would be fantastic! I realize I can just shift the colors down but it would be nice to see an example

In this case with metal paints is very easy to replicate the effect; it's just a simple layering of tones, you need only to fade a bit the edges of the layers and the shine of metal will hide easily every crime 😉

My next army project will have a bigger focus on metallics, the problem I worry about is protecting the paint since they will be handled and used for gaming, any finish I put will just kill the metal paint job. Would love to see / hear your input on sealant / varnishes for miniatures, especially ones that contain metallics and how to handle them. I really like using matte finishes normally but just trying to think ahead to the best approach.

Thanks! No, I never varnish my metals! They have the perfect shine/opaque contrast at the end and with a coat of varnish you loose everything

Man ..... I just stumbled onto this. I just started the hobby about a month ago, never painted before in my life and I was doing metals and getting some texture unlike the other non metallic colours so I figured I’d do some research. Though this dosnt help me because I don’t own an air brush, you are absolutely deadly with that thing buddy 🤯🤯🤯 it makes me want an airbrush but I figure I gotta learn to crawl before I can run right?
