    As a TMM aficionado: Thank You!
    NMM is the pretty boy of the high skill painters, but for us painting plebeians TMM is our bread and butter.
    Keep it metal and most importantly don't forget to PAINT MORE MINIS!

  • @wait4tues
    @wait4tues ปีที่แล้ว +122

    This is so much more effort for something I'd usually just quickly brush over with a single metallic and a wash. I love it. Really cool to see these high quality techniques using what I always assumed was a really basic kind if paint. While I don't have the patience yet for the level you're going for, I definitely can't wait to try this. NMM is still very intimidating for me. This looks so much more approachable as a means of upping the quality of my painting with what I've got in my skillset.

    • @Miniac
      @Miniac  ปีที่แล้ว +42

      Good luck when you give it a try! You could always paint a small portion of a model this way, and then tackle the rest in a simpler way. Maybe you could paint a portion you want to stand out.

    I dig the longer format and commentary on the nuances like your 6 inch workflow. I had a lot of questions about weird details when I started that didn't get answered until I watched a painting livestream or figured it out myself. It's the valley of answers an expert takes for granted and questions a beginner can't articulate. Glad to see a new video for this series

    Really loved the final effect. We used to have so little TMM content compared to NMM, so it's nice that we're getting to see a few different approaches to the effect now (alongside Marco, John, Angel etc.)

    Man you have no idea how much I appreciate this video. I've been wanting to expand my metal painting and have gotten beyond frustrated with, as I see it, failing and not being able to improve. So seeing this, and being able to watch it broken down, has given me hope and determination to try again. Thanks for this video!

    Painting as a discovery process? Music to my ears. All these years I thought everyone who paints to a decent level has "a plan" and knows what will and won't look good and I spend most of my painting time making stuff up as I go along and getting to where I want to be through trial and a lot of error... and a lot of swearing :)
    Great vid and some good tips in there. Thank you Scotty x

    Dude this video is awesome. I love the format of actually watching you paint start to finish since it is really helpful to see you address mistakes, go back and forth, etc.
    But also, I love this idea which i had not heard or thought of before (am new to the hobby) of painting metallics like you would paint NMM. I'm trying it out and it's really a helpful way to kind of practice NMM while getting better results than if I was actually using non metallic paints. The result looks great, its very accessible, and its good NMM practice!
    Seriously, thank you for the video!

    Thanks for this. I like seeing the back and forth process. It's like seeing the Wizard behind the curtain. I know these longer formats may not give you as much of a return in revenue but this one really helped me. Like that one Lyla Mev and Zumitikio vid about youtubers not being able to show everything, this vid helped me close "the gap". Also this was relatively easy to digest being just under 50 minutes versus the 2-3 hour VOD I come across. That being said I will check out your vods on twitch. Thanks again!

    I tried metallic specially GW stuff on a wet pallet after your video about it. I'll say in the short term there was no contamination, but after a week I found the metallics got into a lot of the surrounding paints. Visibly they looked fine but when I was mixing them up the metallic flakes were all under the other paints. Now I move my setup so maybe that has something to do with it, but visibly on the top there was no cross contamination, just went I started mixing it up I got a ton as I said I found the metallic flakes were under all the paints. If you don't clean out your wet pallet weekly or daily I don't think this is an issue, as I said this was over the course of a week.

    I never once considered there was technique you can use for TMM. I’ve been banging my head against the wall with NMM (I am not skilled enough for it) but now I’ve learned from you that there’s a whole other skill that would help first. And maybe even replace cause this looks so much better imo. God bless you.

    Fun Video! My issue with TMM, usually, is you need to spend almost as much time as NMM for it to look better than just metal base and highlight! Keep up the good work!!

    This video style is extremely helpful. Not that your other videos aren't, but the speed seems slower, I'm able to absorb more of that knowledge pigment on my mental paintbrush and it is something I'm able to see progress rather than clips cut and compiled to make a more dynamic video. Some will say this was long and boring but this video is bangin'.
