To begin with I love the way he shows us how to take care of the fabric, slow down and prepare your fabric. It is my opinion even as a beginner. This is a most important step. Thank you ,showing us a how you do it.❤

I Love This video, I have been quilting for 50 years, and I still learned 3 new things from watching your video, 1. Leaving the fabric to cool after ironing it, so you don't put the wrinkles back in (brilliant), 2. A better way to sew strips sets (shortening the stitch length), and 3. A wonderful new pattern ( I Love It).
Thank You for sharing Your Time, and Your Talent with all of us. I always enjoy your videos. It's always a good day when you learn something new, Thank You.

Just had to tell you, Rob..... I needed to stitch (6) 1.5" strips together for a table topper. I watched your video two more times. Took everything you said to heart and did my best to mimic your excellent work. I'm here to report, the strip set should measure 6.5.....AND IT DOES!!! THANKS for this invaluable tutorial! And to anyone else who reads this comment, if you want an accurately pieced strip set, watch this tutorial and follow Rob's instructions.

I've just discovered your videos on your other channel in the last couple of days and have been enjoying them a lot. And now I'm pleased find you here. Your style is interesting and informative. I do want to comment on one small thing --- I appreciate how thrifty you are and your carefulness not to waste fabric. I am a frugal person and often I find that I stop enjoying someone's quilting video because of the wasteful way they use their fabric. It's a small thing but it's something that matters to me and I'm so glad to have found an excellent quilter who respects that fabric is expensive. Actually, there is a second thing that I found that makes your videos unitque --- you're careful to actually press as you sew, which other people keep saying is so important, but then they aren't doing it as they are demonstrating their quilting. You are presenting excellent videos with very informative content.

When squaring up your fabric and cleaning that first edge, to make sure you've gotten the whole length, once cut, let the tiny sliver open up. If it is one wof (width of fabric), length you got the whole length square. If it's in two or more pieces it's still not squared and it needs cut till it's one wof cut. Hope that makes sense? Sometimes you can't see underneath and this method prevents a narrow section in your strip cutting. Love your tips and tricks. I too put lines on my ironing board to prevent grabbing that 3ft long ruler, which kept falling over on the floor when not using it, and this method keeps your ironing squared and stops any wobble. Easy tip to continue to stay squared all the way through the process. Happy sewing Rob, you Rocked this video once again!!!!

SLOW DOWN you said. Change stitch length to 2.0. Seriously? I started sewing strip sets for a Bargello which I have never done. My seams have never been straighter and more accurate. I'm still a smidge off on the 1/4" seam but, I can live with a smidge. They are all consistent now. TY TY TY!

This way of sewing those strips together is great because of the fabric saved. It might not be much but sometimes you on,y need a little extra. I have never heard anyone say to shorten the stitch length when sewing strips and I have been quilting for years . Thanks 😊

Never give up! Use mistakes as learning opportunity! Mistakes are best teachers,as more we mess up,loose time and even money, more we learn at the end and more lesson stays with us...especially when picking up new crafting technique and when don’t know almost nothing about craft, know ahead you’ll make ton of mistakes, accept them ahead of time, embrace them.more you will value every lesson, every wow moment when you realise how to avoid problem and when you’ll become grate at what you do you’ll know you got there cos of you’re persistence and ability to observe and learn...sewing really just looks easy, but it’s quite complicated craft, craft where devil is in detail and every tip and trick matters...Give you’re self time to learn all about machine, fabrics, problem shooting with bad stitches.Hope you gonna have grate time and gain loads of confidence in nothing of time and create beautiful things, get satisfaction of all process of learning and just doing, just wish you and every new crafter in any craft best of luck and best energy through hardest time-when you’re still learning and gaining experience and confidence,so yeah, never give up on you’re dreams and ambitions, keep in mind that in a year if you keep doing whatever you choose,if you’re persistent, you’ll be grate! 💐🤗🍀

If every seam is 1/4 inch then the width would be 14 inches?? Not 13.5 right?

    • @bettywhittington9654

Sandra Trent but he made the pink fabric a different width than the greens. Which would account for the half inch difference. Beautiful block.
