All 3 brothers died standing tall. Toki holding the sacrifice for the future, Raoh holding his pride/conquest high and Kaioh holding his sins. Epic moments.
I remember before getting the DVDs and watching the whole series in the early 2000s, I played through the Sega Genesis game that's based on the entire second series and in it when Kaioh kills himself after being defeated, instead of stepping on a rock to make the lava rise up into him, he shoots the ground with energy blasts to break it and bring on the lava that way. So I was actually a little surprised when I first saw the scene in the anime and how it was relatively mundane.

Was always viewed as the black sheep, he had the greatest potential, and was the rightful successor, but his master literally belittled and berated him, he was a pure hearted soul, until all the animosity corrupted his fragile soul.
I love how beautifully parallel Kaioh and Raoh's deaths are. Raoh punched the Heavens with all his life to show people the light, while Kaioh embraces Hellfire(the lava) to repent for all his own misdeeds.
Here's a fun thing I just thought of. Raoh in his death returned to Heaven by literally punching his soul there. Kaioh returned to earth, swallowed by a wave of lava, which turned to rock. They were literally on the opposide sides of the spectre.
both lived by the rule of the 80s. When you die, you die hard as the lethal weapon you are, with a death so metal that you permanently upstage man-o-war, years before they are BORN!

The isekai you're criticizing commonly feature protagonists as overpowered as Kenshiro. You'd just be making your kids watch more of the same where the protagonist just overpowers everyone with some new made up martial arts technique/superpower he made specifically just for the baddie of the weak. This is also around the time where the mangaka himself got burned out of making Hokuto no Ken because he felt that Kenshiro got _too_ powerful to advance the story
What a fucking legend! This scene gave me the chills once I heard the opening! Kaioh grew on me towards the end but hes still no Raoh. I’d argue his death is just as badass though
Kaioh didn't go to hell, he lived a life full of pain, misery, the man who was supposed to be a father to him shunned him, made him feel like he will always be lesser than he is, and that he is worthless, he became a monster born of pain and hatred, he was denied his destiny, and did horrible things, and in the last moments of his life, the child inside him broke the monster, became free, didn't wash the evil things he did away, but he was redeemed, and he paid his dues with his life in the end.
Kaioh, unlike Raoh, had regrets... He regretted that he did not follow under the subordinate role, and abide under the rules of the Hokuto Soke, unlike Raoh, Kaioh had no ambition besides trying to deny what his master said of Ryuo's line... He dies in regret that he never experienced love, he dies in grief of killing Hyoh's wife, he dies in regret of tarnishing what little respect the Ryuo's line clung to in history... in which Kenshiro, proves he is superior, not only through sympathy, in which he was unable to give which is integral to become the successor of the Hokuto Shinken. But he clung to a dream in which he was unable to fulfill from the time of his youth due to him being banished from learning the Hokuto Shinken.
What's even more unnerving for Kaioh is that Hyoh had the option to go with his brothers but he stayed in order to enslave Kaioh and take over his own families style out from under him in which Kaioh was forced to watch, and yet he was not bothered but he encouraged the hatred as it filled his soul with hatred which is the key to becoming stronger within the Hokuto Ryuken... but met his fate in the end not with triumph but with the mere consolation of death with a brother for whom in which he loathed his existance.
