the fight in this version missed some good points like at 4:20 Zeno should have concentrated his nen into his hand and when chrollo see that nen he thinks that he probably cant block that attack with his nen so he pulls thee book to win some time cause he knows illumi is going to kill the 10 don
+Misaka Mikoto Certain things one did better than the other Like hunter exam arc, hands down, was much better in the 1999, from pacing, story and tone it is suppose to give. Even its filler episodes were very well done 2011 fixed up the greed island mess from the OVAs even though i had little problem with them. I thought Nen was well explained it both. But this fight was better in 1999 imo
What episode is it like? When watched it I did not see the fight. They only said once that the godfathers ordered the asssasins but the did not show the fight.....
the direction, vibe, art style(not animation that's a different thing) and atmosphere of 1999 is what it feels like when you read H x H manga, mysterious and gritty world full of twisted interesting characters that could get you killed if you can't think fast enough. i watched it as a kid, and i forgot a lot about the story but i never forgot what it felt like watching it :D this scene especially :D
Chrollo vs Meruem: who wins? Answer: Chrollo: I'm an assassin here to kill you Meruem giggles: did Pitou hire a clown? Good one Chrollo: no, no it's true. Besides Hisoka the clown is in Greed Island now playing dodge ball Meruem: I'm not fighting you Chrollo: I will tell your real name if you create a hatsu (nen ability) Meruem: so it's like chess without rooks. Ok Meruem creates a WISH HATSU (like Nanika's wish ability) Meruem: tada, thank you I'm now the most overpowered character. Chrollo: why? Meruem: because my hatsu is too strong Chrollo: yes your hatsu defeats all nen users. So? Meruem: nani? I have the strongest hatsu. Chrollo: no, I stole it now Meruem: explain Chrollo: yes, using my furtunetelling ability I foresaw this Meruem using 500 IQ: WTF, he has precognition? That means he probably saw me lose? Why else would he be here? Chrollo: gets his (nen) book Meruem gets scared: I'm bloody serious now. Let's start!
It wouldn't have been as good especially with the over reliance on dark atmosphere and the change in tone wouldn't be handled as well especially with komugi and meruem scenes plus the 2011 Verizon handles the fight scenes better
One of the rare fights in the 1999 version I find better than in the 2011 one. Also, Silva's design is wayyy better here. In the 2011 anime, he looks like he underwent plastic surgery...
I like the intensity of this version. It looks more serious and original. And I also like kurapica vs uvo the original version, because of the intensity factor.
Tedmar Calinao have you seen this version's Uvo vs Shadow beasts fight tho? I can see why ppl think the 1999 version of Kuroro vs Zoldyck fight is better, I like it also. But the Uvo vs Shadow beasts fight... It looked so dumb and anti climatic, it even made me laugh. The 2011's version of that fight still gives me chills when i watched it again :P
Now imagine this. A HxH anime with this art direction, but with the animation of the 2011 version. The dark and gritty setting mixed with the incredible animation the 2011 version pulled off. It's still insane to me how the 2011 version was able to be of such a high quality while being a weekly anime with no breaks.
It's a very good anime compared to trash like One piece, or even every popular anime. BUT they could have done so much better if they hadn't tried to please morons and cartoon fans. Firstly because the original manga is a work of genius. Secondly because it's one of the most popular shonens and its fanbase has been waiting for a remake forever. And finally because the 99 anime had everything in place to lead the way on how to animate brilliantly Hunter x Hunter. It's just my opinion, the anime is superb but they could have done so much better especially at the beginning.
@@shira158 Great counter argument. Very convincing. Let's compare it to our beloved HxH. One Piece is a comedic, action, adventure epic that kids of all of ages can not only get into, but grow up with (& has given it's many adult viewers). A grand story with phenomenal world building, a lovable cast you want to sail with, good foreshadowing, mysteries & an end goal sight from day one making it more rewarding to see the crew progress toward. It's fun. HxH? Great ride, far shorter in comparison, good main cast especially Gon & Killua. Tackles the friendship aspect incredibly well, as does One Piece, & adventure to a far lesser extent. The battles are often strategic which is nice but there lies a problem. You have to essentially take notes and study the power system to understand it. Even upon rereads (or watches). The story can somewhat get too dark for the target audience & the manga's art style isn't particularly up to standards with average shonen series (still good, has it's charm, just less detailed). The main cast is smaller yet they still get sidelined a lot. With Gon & Killua ultimately being replaced after the abrupt Ging meeting (imagine the Straw Hats getting the One Piece like that 😫). Whereas One Piece's larger cast is handled a lot better. Luffy gets too much attention at times, but ultimately everyone has a role, be it small or big in different arcs. HxH only beats OP in being less predictable & more strategic, Note - I haven't read nor watched either in years so I'm not being as detailed as I'd like.
Reasons this version owns the 2011 version: 1. The new version cut out that cool En scanning scene. 2. That dark, eerie atmosphere. Rlly don't get why they brightened the room in 2011. 3. More ominous music. 4. Silva looks more badass removing the poison from his arm here. 5. The cloak is red instead of that weird grey with the photoshop pattern. 6. When Zeno does the rapid punches, you can actually see them. It's just a flash of white in the new version. 7. Silva's final attack seems much more impactful and louder.
Not to mention that rotating background which made it more epic. The 2011 version has 'more' colors due to higher resolution thus appearing to be 'more detailed' and 'better looking'. While I don't disagree with that, there are many factors to consider like choreography, design consistency, positioning and proportion of the face, eyes, and limbs, shadows/shading, hairlines, the creases of the clothes and many more. The 1999 version just ticks all of those. I rewatched this frame by frame and the consistency just doesn't let up. Every frame is just masterfully done, while the 2011 one appears to be rushed. The art has some letups in many frames. Nonetheless, the 2011 one is not bad, it just missed the potential to be better. The action sequence on 2011 is a lot more purposeful and easy to follow not that this one isn't.
1. The en scene didn't happen in the manga 2. Really don't get why they darkened it , it's like they trying to hard to be dark and the lighting made it feel like a casual encounter. 3.yeah the music was better. 4.no I disagree with this point 6.why does the color of the cloak matter. 7.now you're being ridiculous 8.no they're the same
@@acreativename2781 did u watched the anime? The scenes in the hunter exam are waaay more dramatic and tense in the 99's version, you have to be an idiot to think that is just the colors
For those who were confused why Chrollo and Zeno were alive after Silva's attack, Silva didn't hit them directly because he heard a call from Illumi before he released his attack. It's in this exact moment 6:05
Silva didn't run in the original to let chrollo think he's paralyzed and took him by surprise. The display of Zeno's En. And more clear picture of owl in chrollo's book 😂
When opponent is a high risk player who can steal skills, why would he risk letting him alive, basically due to close proximity chrollo could steal the skills of his grandpa! I find that part bit hard to digest... Skills power and life are far important than money, the Gramps told it himself "go with strongest attack even if you have to kill me", basically imagine that guy stealing the skill, getting more stronger, and finishes everyone from zolydict family for their skills if not now later, it's like letting a criminal at large ... Hard to digest how it ended up "draw" .. either he should have escaped or one of them done in would have been the direction I would have picked.
It breaks my heart that this version wasn't the one continued. At least continued in this sense of art and design. I much prefer the 1999 version because it was much darker because of those aspects along with its much more dramatic ost. I think they aimed at a kids audience way too much with the 2011 version. I just don't get the same sense of pacing and drama with it. There's not as much build up to events and it doesn't convey the fun and insane creativity that Hunter x Hunter has as well. Things just feel like they sort've happen unlike in the 1999 version where it felt like things had more impact in the story. I know that in the first place Hunter x Hunter isn't supposed to be that dark, but the 2011 version just is way too light-hearted because of its change in art style, soundtrack, and overall pacing in its direction.
The beginning is lighter compared to the 1999 version. It does get darker though especially in the chimera ant arc which is one of my favorite arcs in any anime. I like the quality better in 1999.
Just came from a second viewing of the 2011 version of this fight and having seen this one for the first time I was more impressed than I honestly thought I'd be. The art remains stylised, but it's toned back giving a more realistic look to the characters - which I find quite appealing. The notable choice of low lighting gives the scene a darker overall tone than 2011, too. Animation was also pretty great - fluid movement, and the hair in particular stood out to me. I think both versions are well executed.
I loved this fight much more in this version than the one in 2016. Chrollo calmness in the fight is really epic. Also the movements here were more natural and accurate.
Him laughing and moving the Dragon to be chasing Chrollo: For those who dont know, this is still pure Transmutation, despite him being able to make the Dragon-Aura go whereever he wants it: That's because Shaping youre aura, as long as it's still not detached from you, is Transmutation. Detaching it is Emission and then Controlling it would be Manipulation. As long as he doesnt detach it, it's Transmutation (like Bisky training the Boys Perception with her show-off of Number-shaped Aura).
Chrollo has to meet 4 conditions to take an ability: He must see the Hatsu at least once with his own eyes He must ask his victim about their ability and be answered by their own will. He has to take the victims hand and place in on the hand mark on his book All of the above steps must be done within one hour Afterwards, the ability will be lost from the victim and Chrollo can access it as long as the victim is alive. If they die, the ability is lost forever. ITs unknown if there is any known way to get a stolen ability back. So far, it seems he can only access one ability at a time since he must flip the the page in his book to the ability (and photo of the victim) is on. EDIT: He can only use an ability when the book is open to that specific one. This is an inspiration and opposite of Rando, another of Togashi's villains from an earlier series. Rando can steal abilities too but he only had to see them used once to learn them and he always killed his victims after learning them. Like Chrollo, he doesnt know all the mechanics behind an ability he learns and must figure it out on his own. Also, if Rando was in the HxH world, he would be a Specialist. UPDATE from Hisoka vs Chrollo duel: Chrollo NEEDS to have the book opened to the abilities page to use that ability but there is an exception. Chrollo is subject to rules of the Hatsu's he has stolen, which means he has to follow any contracts, limitations or vows the original owner had. Chrollo can use an ability of a person that has died only if their Nen becomes stronger after death. This is useful as depending on the ability and power of the person that died, it can"overrule" come limitations Chrollo placed on himself (For example, Gallery Fake copies normally will disappear if Chrollo stops using the ability but with "Sun and Moons" after death power, it can stop copies of Gallery Fake from disappearing, even long after the Hatsu is disengaged, so long as the copies have an affixed seal of the "Sun and Moon" on them.) Chrollo has a bookmark, which he can use to either: Keep it on an ability's page, therefore, use it with the book closed, increasing his hand to hand combat proficiency with free hands OR Keep it on a page, and open the book to another page, allowing usage of two abilities at the same time as long as he holds the book. This cannot happen if the one of the abilities requires two hands to use, as Chrollo must not have the book in his hand. New abilities acquired since Yorknew: Borrowed Gallery Fake and Black Voice from Kortupi and Shanark Sun and Moon-make explosions from having two affixed seals touch each other. The longer the user takes to affix the seal (touching the thing or person you want the seal on), the stronger the explosion (maximum of 3-4 seconds). Once the seals are affixed, they can never be removed until they explode. Order Stamp-Conjure a stamp and control any "puppet" that has a Kanji affixed to their head. Puppets must be lifeless, have a head and can only be those that the original owner viewed such as. Corpses cannot be used since the owner did not view them as puppets. Orders cannot be complexed and are given by voice command. Chrollo has been shown controlling more than 200 puppets at one time. Covert Hands-Depending on which hand the user touches someone with, the user can either take on the appearance of that person or give the person the user's appearance. If the user touches the person with both hands at the same time, they swap appearances
Lucky Zed From YYH? I didn't even put two together! Thanks for the info man, Chrollo is my favorite hunter x hunter character. Just too badass to not love.
That's what made the King scary. He could absorb ones Abilties just by eating some of their flesh and use them all on his own as well as improve them easily. He can also use multiple ones at once. Compared to Chrollo, then yes, his Hatsu is not as efficient
In my opinion, this is one of the best action sequences in this series, and I dare say in all of anime. The intensity is just over 9000! The action is fast paced - no drag, it is beautifully directed and animated. The swaying of the hair, the details of the hairline, the movement of the hands and head, the panning and zooming out of the camera, all of that combined gives us the best viewing experience of this fight. I rewatched this frame by frame and the consistency just doesn't let up. Every frame is just masterfully done. That rotating background just made it more epic.
yep its before i liked it better but after seeing that they missed a good point at 4:20 Zeno should have concentrated his nen into his hand and when chrollo see that nen he thinks that he probably cant block that attack with his nen
***** Dude you just ruined it xD Yep they missed that and it was in the manga. Still think the perfect version would be somehow a mixture of the two versions. Silva's last attack for example, having him charge the attack in the 2011 version just ruins the moment which should come as a surprise as in the manga.
I love the lovely art style and animation in this version, their designs and dark atmosphere feels more suspenseful. I appreciate the additional scenes in the 2011 version with Chrollo's book has more detail and the fly on one of the dead Dons.
Este anime alcanzó la perfección justo en esta época y en el arco del genei ryodan. Es simplemente magnífico, la banda sonora es aplastante, una obra de arte
To be honest, I would love to see more animations in an old school way like this one. With more flow of movement and less stopping for showing off the name of the characters' skills/techniques.
I also miss old bleach animstion, it was more fluid and easy to animate than the stiff actual animation. People.thinks nowadays that good fights or good animation is just explosions
"What do you take us for? Do you actually think we do this for fun?! This is strictly business. I'm not going to endanger my life if I'm not getting paid for it." Hahah fucking hell Zeno.
Can't talk about a old man like that, he could be cooking meals at home, mansion as a matter of fact, but he is assassinating people so by large he likes, if he gets himself killed, not a wise old man
What make this scene so badass and goosebumps isn’t just because of the Art Styles and it environments but this was the first time we saw this caliber of fighting since the first episode.
If we disregard the one fight between Hisoka and that wolf attack man in Heaven’s arena we are indeed confronted the first time to a “serious” En battle with this and the short fight does not disappoint
I personally prefer the darker color scheme in the 1999 version, the 2011 looked too bright. While the colors are vibrant, I think the murderous and sinister intent is reflected in predominantly darker hues. Plus, I think they relied on too much computer effects in the 2011 version, so the prior version of HxH is more detailed despite being old. I mean when the Zaoldyecks first saw Chrolo standing (on 1:51) in the 1999 version, you can clearly see more expression and facial lines (beside the nose when one frowns) as compared to the 2011 version. The music was darker and scene changes were subtle fades.. very effective. It need not be flashy to be good
the bright color scheme allows the dark scenes to have even more of an impact, just look at Swindler's Swamp, anyone who whent in thinking it was just another kiddy shonen series had a big surprise
LordKamina2 Provided there is contrast, but the more recent version is way too bright and... happy lol! I think there was more animation involved in the earlier version too, as compared to the new one that has more computer generated animation.
100% agreed on that. I tried picking up 2011 but I am still salty over the fact they ended the 1999 so early in comparison to the manga then rebooted it. This in its self is the final episode for the series (1999) that is and after seeing that this was the final episode, I came to the realization that animators back in the 80-90's got royally screwed by regulations animation companies and networks were trying to push.
It's not just because we grew up watching the 1999 version first that we like and admire it more..it is more than that,It's truly a master piece, the lightings, the details..the epic music..like the legendary music here when the zoldyk silva and zino are looking for chrollo..the mystery about it makes you live the story completely..hxh1999 is the best anime of all time for me
The detail in this version of the fight is much better and the backgrounds don't change once the fight starts. Look at the movement and detail on Zeno and Chrollo's eyes as they're about to attack or be attacked. Thats the sort of stuff you just don't get in the new version.
i just wish animation nowadays can have the detail and character artstyle just like 2:33 to 2:27 .The fighting movement, the flows of body, the hairs movement. Especially the blood from 2:36, its so damn nice. The digital animation nowadays lack of these aspects....nowadays they kinda rely too hard on digital
You must have not watched the 201q version or Fate Stay Night or God Eater. Seriously you people on youtube become experts with everything you know nothing about.
I had around 11 years old when I started to watch HxH and this particular scene, that I haven’t seen in years, made me laugh wholeheartedly. Why ? Because back then, when I saw Kill’s father crack his finger with only the thumb, I found it so damn cool that I promised myself I would be able to do it and today, at the very moment this part came on the screen… I was doing it, as it has become a habit of mine. Thanks for giving a kid something stupid to be proud of as an adult, Togashi-sensei.
+Beyblad Beyond the one thing I would say they dropped the ball with was Kite. They should have at least made an episode zero where they first met so then it didn't feel so out of place where only a reader would get it while anime onlies are lost as fuck.
I loved how each character had their own aura color. The 2011 version only had mostly white for good/neutral; purple for evil; red for Uvogin; and pink for Hisoka.
Andy M I love the 2011 version more but this version is top tier. It's straight out of the manga and more detailed. Like for instance, when Silva was gonna hit Chrollo with the nen balls you can hear the phone ringing in the background, meanwhile in the 2011 version they just showed Silva charging up and a big ass boom.
I kinda love how Lucifer just fell down in exhaustion the moment they were out of sight. Really humanizes what's essentially the main villain of the series.
Seriously just got into this anime.. never bothered because of the art style.. and just noticed 99s version.. wtf happened to good anime art like this.. it's all generic now..
I watched the 2011 version before watching this one. I can see why people like this version better. I like it also. However, I like them both for different reasons.
Mitchell Trudell is it the fact that the environment is darker? or are you just talking about the art style and like how everyone is more "round" in the 1999 version?
Man this looks like a motion picture. I love how subtle combat mannerisms are here. No overblown movements, the battle looked more of a mind game. Also Silva looks like an actual assassin in his body frame. Not overly muscular.
Him laughing and moving the Dragon to be chasing Chrollo: For those who dont know, this is still pure Transmutation, despite him being able to make the Dragon-Aura go whereever he wants it: That's because Shaping youre aura, as long as it's still not detached from you, is Transmutation.
I had a crush on Kuroro in this episode. He looked so handsome with his hair down like that. I watched 2011 version of this as well but I still think that the original version had a better animation and more darker.
2:09-6:01 of this version is just so epic.. the angles of the fight scene, the music and color is so superior than the new version. Have witnessed this episode when i was 9 years old and all i can say is the hype of the music and the gravity in the moment of fight in this version is superior than the 2011 version... although 2011 has better art but the angles and gravity of each confrontation in the older one is so detailed and absolutely impressive.
Yeah I find it very clear on what is happening. When they are describing their attacks it correlates perfectly to what is happening on screen. It's not as flashy as the 2011, but I love how they managed to fit in one image/scene.
This old anime is exceptional. It’s an OVA. OVA’s always have better budget and animation than actual TV series. Unfortunately most 90’s anime weren’t animated this good
even the older Popeye and Mickey Mouse >>> CGI version of it and other anime like Black Clover, Fairy Tail, 7 Deadly Sins, etc there is something about pen and paper.
@ 3:27 I loved how chrolo just leans his head forward at the incredulity of the statement silva just said . when he hears the man who just got hit with a mega poison just says "yeah no problem ". Like how one of your best mates at the bar just got done telling a ridiculous story.
@@IAm-zo1bo i think they have the mindset of "cant have anything good these days". No offense but Same thing with yyh fans imo, they keep hating on hxh and explaining in anime fights and saying that their non explained fast fights are better calling info exposition "spoonfeeding and treating viewers like a baby" even though its literally different strengths since no one type of storytelling work for every style, the explanation imo makes it more nuanced for some series and bad for others. They just dont wanna exit their little safe dome of nostalgia i guess, close mindedness at its best
The old 1999 version, 100x better than the reboot 2011 was. Almost in all aspects, even in every theme songs and especially the battle theme song feel intense.
Because a remake is supposed to be better than an anime made more than 10 years ago, but HxH '11 epically failed to do so. And because i is remade, it means we will never be able to see the continuation of the '99 version with the superior animation staff. Nobody would've been raging if they had just started from the Chimera Ant Arc. (or the Greed Island Arc coz that was crap too in the '99 version)
MIZZKIE Epically failed to do so? As I said, I haven't seen the 99 version, but the 11 version was definitely great. Also one reason why I can see the 99 fans say that the 11 version is bad is because of nostalgia, nothing else. 11 fans probably also don't like 99 because its old.
charon If you compare '11 to the manga, you should see many errors and flaws, and if you compare '11 to '99 you will see how inferior it is as an anime. If you understood Japanese, you can go to 2ch and read the threads (I think there were 24) about this topic, but since I doubt you do, you'll just have to trust me. I know when I'm being nostalgic or not. I can judge what I see for what I see. And from wha I see, '11 is clearly inferior, even if I omit things that are just personal preferances (like character voices). >nostalgia, nothing else WTF If you haven't seen '99, how the hell can you tell we're just being nostalgic? (o_0) Wow... if you really meant this, then whatever you say would be invalid and idiotic.... (facepalm) >11 fans probably also don't like 99 because its old That's their personal choice, but if that were the cae, *they have absolutely no right to comment* because they are being blindly biased. Just because it's newer, doesn't mean it's beter. Just compare the two "Thing" movies (not the very old one). The new version has technological advantage, but still inferior to John Carpenter's version. (Yes, I know it's not a remake, but the plot is ridiculously identical)
MIZZKIE You're right, there are a lot more reasons why people would dislike the 11 version, but there are 99 fans that would dislike the 11 version just because of nostalgia, not saying you're one of them. Anyway I am not going to argue about something I don't know, all I know is that the 11 version is a great show on its own, if it holds up to the manga and 99 version I don't care, but I don't like seeing people argue about which is better as its basically the same show. From now on I am just going to try and ignore this topic entirely.
MIZZKIE ">11 fans probably also don't like 99 because its old That's their personal choice, but if that were the cae, they have absolutely no right to comment because they are being blindly biased."- funny how you say this so subjectively when it ascertains to your argument, yet the minute it's turned around fans of the 1999 version are clearly blindly biased based upon their nostalgia. He was right, just like when I remember my favorite vacation I would expect things to top it... if it didn't in my eyes it would almost ruin the entire atmosphere. That's what happened to you. This is however your, and anybody else's, personal preference basically meaning it has no basis to use as factual evidence and support as to prove how something is superior. Because people agree with you, you have decided and self proclaimed you're right? LOL. Well I agree with charon so? If I were to use your logic here Charon and I would be right; Also let's us not forget all the many other influences we have in this world deemed "terrible" insinuating popularity is meaningless as people are nothing- A person is something. I also agree with you besides your pretentious attitude on that I must be insane and blind to not agree with your personal preference to the older version of this anime. How sad is ur thought process on this, rather do you even have one? Show less *edit when I say I agree with you I mean I agree the 1999 is darker feeling, it feels more mature and has a edgy tone to it yes. That does not mean however the 2011 one is "childish"? How black and white are you man? I can't like both aspects of both versions? People such as yourself are the epitome of warfare.
I just love the darkness on the old version

Many says that the animation in the 1999 anime was bad... but I personally thinks it looks pretty decent....
I would also argue that this fight has more atmosphere and tension that in the 2011 remake.
Do you mean - that - in the 2011 remake or - than - in the 2011 remake?
Where i can watch this fight in hunter x hunter 1999. Doesn´t it end when they finished the Greed Island game?

Chrollo vs Meruem: who wins? Answer:
Chrollo: I'm an assassin here to kill you
Meruem giggles: did Pitou hire a clown? Good one
Chrollo: no, no it's true. Besides Hisoka the clown is in Greed Island now playing dodge ball
Meruem: I'm not fighting you
Chrollo: I will tell your real name if you create a hatsu (nen ability)
Meruem: so it's like chess without rooks. Ok
Meruem creates a WISH HATSU (like Nanika's wish ability)
Meruem: tada, thank you I'm now the most overpowered character.
Chrollo: why?
Meruem: because my hatsu is too strong
Chrollo: yes your hatsu defeats all nen users. So?
Meruem: nani? I have the strongest hatsu.
Chrollo: no, I stole it now
Meruem: explain
Chrollo: yes, using my furtunetelling ability I foresaw this

Now imagine this. A HxH anime with this art direction, but with the animation of the 2011 version. The dark and gritty setting mixed with the incredible animation the 2011 version pulled off.
It's still insane to me how the 2011 version was able to be of such a high quality while being a weekly anime with no breaks.
That's what I was hoping it would be when they announced it was coming back in 2011. I would give anything to see the ant arc in this animation style.
@@IaloneAmTHEChoppedONE Could have made that comment without slandering the greatest shonen series.
@@Sasukeis6-0againstNaruto one piece is trash for real, definitely not the greatest
HxH only beats OP in being less predictable & more strategic,
Note - I haven't read nor watched either in years so I'm not being as detailed as I'd like.

Reasons this version owns the 2011 version:
1. The en scene didn't happen in the manga
2. Really don't get why they darkened it , it's like they trying to hard to be dark and the lighting made it feel like a casual encounter.
3.yeah the music was better.

For those who were confused why Chrollo and Zeno were alive after Silva's attack, Silva didn't hit them directly because he heard a call from Illumi before he released his attack. It's in this exact moment 6:05
Exactly. The 2011 had this scene wrong.

Him laughing and moving the Dragon to be chasing Chrollo:
For those who dont know,
this is still pure Transmutation, despite him being able to make
the Dragon-Aura go whereever he wants it: That's because Shaping youre aura,
as long as it's still not detached from you, is Transmutation.
Detaching it is Emission and then Controlling it would be Manipulation.
As long as he doesnt detach it, it's Transmutation (like Bisky training
the Boys Perception with her show-off of Number-shaped Aura).

Chrollo has to meet 4 conditions to take an ability:
He must see the Hatsu at least once with his own eyes
He must ask his victim about their ability and be answered by their own will.
He has to take the victims hand and place in on the hand mark on his book
All of the above steps must be done within one hour
Afterwards, the ability will be lost from the victim and Chrollo can access it as long as the victim is alive.
UPDATE from Hisoka vs Chrollo duel:
Chrollo NEEDS to have the book opened to the abilities page to use that ability but there is an exception.
Chrollo is subject to rules of the Hatsu's he has stolen, which means he has to follow any contracts, limitations or vows the original owner had.
Chrollo can use an ability of a person that has died only if their Nen becomes stronger after death. This is useful as depending on the ability and power of the person that died, it can"overrule" come limitations Chrollo placed on himself (For example, Gallery Fake copies normally will disappear if Chrollo stops using the ability but with "Sun and Moons" after death power, it can stop copies of Gallery Fake from disappearing, even long after the Hatsu is disengaged, so long as the copies have an affixed seal of the "Sun and Moon" on them.)
Chrollo has a bookmark, which he can use to either:
Keep it on an ability's page, therefore, use it with the book closed, increasing his hand to hand combat proficiency with free hands OR
Keep it on a page, and open the book to another page, allowing usage of two abilities at the same time as long as he holds the book. This cannot happen if the one of the abilities requires two hands to use, as Chrollo must not have the book in his hand.
New abilities acquired since Yorknew:
Borrowed Gallery Fake and Black Voice from Kortupi and Shanark
Sun and Moon-make explosions from having two affixed seals touch each other.
***** Yeah. Feitan tortured him for information. Chrollo stole his powers afterwards.
Lucky Zed dude, it was explained, the king only make his "aura bigger or increases" by eating the victim, he cant use the victim's ability at all
Try Arga Nope, he absorbs their Aura and ability, hence how he got his two royal guards abilities from eating pieces of their flesh

Still think the perfect version would be somehow a mixture of the two versions.

I just love the atmosphere and vibe that 80s to 90s anime give off.

1999 = 2011
Reason? Because they are both Hunter x Hunter Greatness!!!!
+Eric D. no 2011 messed everything up
dont compare 2011 to 1999 cause they are totally different
+Beyblad Beyond the one thing I would say they dropped the ball with was Kite. They should have at least made an episode zero where they first met so then it didn't feel so out of place where only a reader would get it while anime onlies are lost as fuck.
+benassi-kai no way
+benassi-kai Shut the fuck up
I loved how each character had their own aura color.
The 2011 version only had mostly white for good/neutral; purple for evil; red for Uvogin; and pink for Hisoka.
I don't know why but I like this version better
The darker colors, and music add to the atmosphere perfectly.
Yea
Yes...
The background music is great and the darkness..
Andy M Its the same version. In 2011 only animation, music, and VA were better.
افضل انمى على الإطلاق ❤❤❤ فعلا يستحق المشاهده نريد المزيد
it's 2019 and this fight and theme is still the best fight scene I've ever seen
I kinda love how Lucifer just fell down in exhaustion the moment they were out of sight. Really humanizes what's essentially the main villain of the series.
Seriously just got into this anime.. never bothered because of the art style.. and just noticed 99s version.. wtf happened to good anime art like this.. it's all generic now..
Too expensive
@@bryanc7094 and too much time
I can't blame them
They are humans the 1999 hxh wouldnt make it this style or at least maybe this style but not traditional hand drawn if they didnt have to

its been 20 years since i saw this part. but i still watching. masterpiece. what a talanted director Togashi Yoshihiro. genious of Japan.
This animation is perfect for the arch gloomy, dark and you can really feel the suspense in the air.
このオーラの音ほんと好き
I watched the 2011 version before watching this one. I can see why people like this version better. I like it also. However, I like them both for different reasons.
please explain. i can't seem to find any reason to like this one better, although of course both are awesome.
mudslider Personally I like the art better in the 1999 anime. I've only ever watched the 2011 version fully though.
Mitchell Trudell is it the fact that the environment is darker? or are you just talking about the art style and like how everyone is more "round" in the 1999 version?
Because These 1999 are my childhood. And most people prefer thier childhood.(So do I)
mudslider It just looks more detailed, especially the character designs. The colors look a lot more vibrant in 2011 version though.
Music building the tension as the battle nears!! Just so great.
Man this looks like a motion picture. I love how subtle combat mannerisms are here. No overblown movements, the battle looked more of a mind game.
Also Silva looks like an actual assassin in his body frame. Not overly muscular.
@@slevinchannel7589 Right. The old man is just stretching his arms.
I had a crush on Kuroro in this episode. He looked so handsome with his hair down like that.
I watched 2011 version of this as well but I still think that the original version had a better animation and more darker.
You mean chrollo-
@@coco_killua3057 i think that's chrollo's name in 1999 version
@@kurama8375 ohh I see thanks for informing
I love chrollo its my favorite character 😊❤
Youre gay?😂
Unfortunately most 90’s anime weren’t animated this good
@@amuroray9115 this is OVA? I think this is an episode. This animation of HxH is much more superior than the new one at least for me.
HxH from the 1990s is like a horror show at times

Seems like we dont deserve this level of animation today, this was and still 20 years later a masterpiece like most of the anime in the 90 are
The power of pen and paper
Your country has no ability to make animation like this level
@@pc-9826 huh
Most anime of the 90’s weren’t masterpieces. You only watched a handful of popular okes
even the older Popeye and Mickey Mouse >>> CGI version of it and other anime like Black Clover, Fairy Tail, 7 Deadly Sins, etc
there is something about pen and paper.
This version really makes the 2011 remake like a kid show

@ 3:27 I loved how chrolo just leans his head forward at the incredulity of the statement silva just said . when he hears the man who just got hit with a mega poison just says "yeah no problem ". Like how one of your best mates at the bar just got done telling a ridiculous story.
😂😂😂😂😂
2011 version can't even make a spectacular fight scene like this and it only proves that 1999 version is still the best.

Have only seen 2011 version but this looks great too. Why take sides over which is better?
11 fans probably also don't like 99 because its old.
charon
If you compare '11 to the manga, you should see many errors and flaws, and if you compare '11 to '99 you will see how inferior it is as an anime.
If you understood Japanese, you can go to 2ch and read the threads (I think there were 24) about this topic, but since I doubt you do, you'll just have to trust me. I know when I'm being nostalgic or not. I can judge what I see for what I see. And from wha I see, '11 is clearly inferior, even if I omit things that are just personal preferances (like character voices).
>nostalgia, nothing else
WTF If you haven't seen '99, how the hell can you tell we're just being nostalgic? (o_0)
Wow... if you really meant this, then whatever you say would be invalid and idiotic.... (facepalm)
>11 fans probably also don't like 99 because its old
That's their personal choice, but if that were the cae, *they have absolutely no right to comment* because they are being blindly biased.
MIZZKIE ">11 fans probably also don't like 99 because its old
That's their personal choice, but if that were the cae, they have absolutely no right to comment because they are being blindly biased."-
funny how you say this so subjectively when it ascertains to your argument, yet the minute it's turned around fans of the 1999 version are clearly blindly biased based upon their nostalgia.
*edit when I say I agree with you I mean I agree the 1999 is darker feeling, it feels more mature and has a edgy tone to it yes. That does not mean however the 2011 one is "childish"? How black and white are you man? I can't like both aspects of both versions? People such as yourself are the epitome of warfare.
really cool anime sequence,I’ve seen this part in the manga a million times and I still enjoyed this scene. That’s how you know it’s great adaptation!
