I watched it recently for the first time, having huge expectations, and I was horribly disappointed. A lot of characters felt miscast, the pacing of the movie was too slow for half of the time, the dialogues taking place had little weight or depth, and just generally, the humor felt like was tailor-made for 13 yr olds. I kept waiting for the big funny thing to happen, and it never did. When JoBlo hinted that there hadn't been a comedy movie as good as Tropic Thunder since it released, it really took me by surprise. There's tons of movies that are funnier than this movie. Heck, even some non-comedy movies have been funnier than this one.
      Just my two cents..

He's the Director/Producer for the show Severance on Apple TV. When I saw his name on the end credits my mind was blown. Hats off. Standing ovation.

Yes, you said it right. He's a genius. But, like any comic actor, he is often considered a lower caste or a pariah compared to actors who have made great dramatic movies like Kevin Costner and Leonardo DiCaprio. In my opinion, comedy actors should be awarded twice as much as other kinds of actors because it's simple to make people cry, but very, very hard to make them laugh. You need extreme talent and ability to do so. And I'm saying this as a former movie director, artist, and arts expert.

The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty is my favorite Ben Stiller movie. It's worth watching, just for the end reveal alone.

I laughed so hard during Tropic Thunder I cried. I couldn't catch my breath. I had to pause the video to get myself under control before the next funny thing happened. That ambush scene is cinematic history!

Ben comes from comedic royalty. It's in his blood. IF the only thing he ever did was Tropic Thunder, that would be enough accomplishment for a lifetime, but he gave us so much more.

I don’t know why Mitty isn’t rated higher, I love that movie! The only issue I have with it is that once again, the love interest is played down as having no excitement due to being a mother etc..
