I don’t think ( might b wrong ) that those people are as closed as the Sandler’s quad , but still. I think the "snark" is valid and warranted. He really wasn't funny doing his standup and it is arguably only with the assistance of his crew that his funniest/most popular movies succeeded. He got the crew together though and made it happen so that's not necessarily a bad thing.

In the 90s the best docs were brought to life the same way, just one person who’s super passionate and knowledgeable about one thing, making a short and sweet way to tell the story. A studio doc on Adam would of been stretched to 2 hours full of of bullshit. Great job on this dude!

I was thinking about him last week and how so many of his projects have low-brow humor but he has a lot of great films, as well. He’s the closest thing to an “everyman” creator, he knows a lot of people and people need work so they support eachother. Also, if they’re not getting gigs from other people, they’re going to keep working for the person that will reach out… it’s the same for all production companies tbh.

Reign Over Me is still one of my favourite movies of all time. Showed Adams range and was a movie that talked about mental health in a really positive direction before it was talked about so publicly. Hes not just a shitty comedic actor. Hes stayed out of controversy and stayed humble and kind throughout it all. I believe there’s also a thing called work life balance. He possibly could have been funnier or directed/acted In better movies, but it’s been proven time and time again that Adam is a family man.
If you look at the best of the best, there are so many with horrible work/life balance, dysfunctional families, drug/alcohol addictions, etc. I think Adam made his family/friends priority, which could have “held him back,” but he was okay with it because he knew what was most important to him.
