how do you know how to adjust the fluid adjustment knob and air adjustment knob? How would you tell when you test on scrap wood whether to increase or decrease one of the knobs to get the right sweet spot?
Leah I love your show. I am a sista who has been doing home improvement for years (since I was a stay at home mom). Watching your videos have been consistently informative, and empowering. You are an exceptional teacher, very professional and appropriate for video/TV and you are very congenial.
Leah- you are by far my favorite instructor on TH-cam. You are so patient and explain things so well to those of us just trying to learn like me, before I tackle projects I've never done before. Keep it up.
Leah, I have to thank you. It's been awhile since I sprayed, probably 20 years. You are the only one who walked me through in a very concise manner, not the other instructors weren't good, but you were the only one who explained the gun air pressure properly. Adjust with the trigger pulled to 20 lbs. I knew I was doing something wrong when my primer came out like a big splatter gun which was a result of setting my guage to 20 psi before pulling the trigger. Thanks again Leah.
Leah, thanks for the lesson. I have a bathroom project I need to get done and I wanted to use spray gun but have been hesitant. After your lesson I think I can do it. Thanks for the encouragement.
Wow! Clear, concise, useful, to the point, presenting the essentials, with zero filler or chatter. If only I had teachers like this at university. Leah, you certainly raises the bar on instructional content.
I just wanted to drop a comment saying that after looking at a few of the videos on your channel, I have come away impressed with how you present things in a way that makes the jobs approachable. Best wishes.
I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else wants to learn about car spray painting courses try Alkarno Spray Paint Alchemist (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my friend got amazing success with it.
All my handyman contacts leave out steps because they assume i know things like how to use a drill. Leah is now my go to lady before i try new things. Today, the paint gun. And yes, i will try it with water first. Great idea!!!
Wow! You have always helped me so much. I built an entire apartment inside a building during covid, with huge help from you! I had never done anything like that before. Now as I move on to other projects, you're still there to show me essential skills! Thank you Leah--you are awesome!!!
You are such a wonderful teacher. So, thorough, yet down to earth. I learned what I came here for, but also came away with an enormous sense of joy. It felt like you were right here with me patiently answering all of my questions. What a gorgeous human being. Thank you XO
Don't put the teflon tape up to the end of the thread. Leave 2 lines of thread. One of the advantages would be to avoid the teflon eventually breaking down and contaminating the air circuit. Also easier to screw the parts together and the teflon to engage into the thread rather than being pushed up and away. Great video, I am learning a lot from it.
These tutorials are SO straightforward and clear. This is really great instruction. I predict over time that these instructions will get tons and tons of views. More more more! Thanks
I just wanted to say how much your videos have helped me have confidence using power tools for the first time or in the case of a drill use it better. Your many videos have helped me use a circular saw, table saw, not be afraid of my router. Hope you can come back soon. Love hugs, prayers to you.
These are ones of the most accessible videos out there. Things are explained in an ELI5 way, yet respectful of the audience, irrespective of the background. Thank you!
What a nice video. I know absolutely nothing about spray painting, only used a spray can before. This girl is very clear for me to understand what is involved. Thank you for posting
That's really impressive. Your intent to help others is evident in every word you say. Thank you for taking the time to share you know-how on using paint spray gun. Expect to see more videos like this :)
I love her. She presents it very clear and simple. You can tell she is very experienced - a teacher. This material is very informative and educational.
Thank you for your clear, direct explanation that does not assume any prior knowledge, which helps me because I don’t have any prior knowledge. I especially appreciate your encouragement that I can do this and your suggestion that I begin by practicing with a “low stakes” process like spraying water. I spent years being fearful and am so happy now to actually begin to do things that I had been told most of my life there was “no way” I could do.
Have watched some of your other videos and continue to be impressed with your ability to communicate ideas in an understandable manner. You provide all the information in a logical, concise manner that takes the mystery out of things.
Excellent video for beginners. Very comprehensive & clearly explained. I’d recommended adding an in-line moisture separator (installed just below the air regulator) to keep condensation from the compressor from further diluting paint. Thanks Leah for yet another video well worth watching.
I love having the correct equipment before starting a project. Thank you for relieving me of all future stress and another unfinished project. Great info!!
First time ever viewing one of your videos. Not even gonna lie, was surprised to see a woman come on after the intro... Then I watched your whole video and I actually am thrilled it was you and that you are available as such a useful tool and resource for anyone in the industry or seeking DIY help. Bar none best instructor on here. And I'm just getting started! God bless
I absolutely love your teaching method. Strike that, I have solutely love you! I wish you could teach me everything I need to learn in life because you are such an excellent communicator. You take the fear out of these tools by virtue of your calm and confident demeanor and your Detailed Explanation. Thank you thank you thank you
Working hard to be like you someday! Thanks a lot for the classes. I learnt welding basics last month with you, and now again I stumble into your channel and get just what I was needing. What an inspiration you are! Love from Brazil, Priscilla
i have been doing renovations for a long while and have used a paint gun several times successfully albeit borrowed from my panel beater mate with his compressor so everything worked perfectly. Now I want to buy one and a compressor and this excellent video has helped me. For Leah well for a dumb bloke like me she is a sweetheart
Whenever I look up a new DIY subject I get excited when I see there’s a seejanedrill video on it because I know it’ll be thorough and informative. Great job as always.
I love how, easy to understand, all your videos are❤ My go to when I need info on any tool or project. You have been a huge part of my house remodel. Thanks
I’m so grateful for this video. I got a paint sprayer and realized the air compressor wasn’t powerful enough! I’m so glad I didn’t start painting and find this out.
Good video Leah you have covered to basics of spraying, but if I can give you a couple of tips. Firstly widen your fan ( you will also need to open the flow) and overlap the previous pass by one third this will result in a more even coat. Pull the trigger with your middle finger and hold your index finger on the side of the gun. This will help the gun feel more natural and give better balanced.
I"m so thankful to you, yesterday,I bought an Air Compressor, but thanks to your Video, I now know which Spray Paint Gun to buy, which Nailer, Sander......you name, you set me on the right path. Thank you again.
Super explanation Leah. Back when I used to do this type of lacquer spraying, equally as important was knowing the proper cleaning instructions for the sprayer, so that it doesn’t become a one time use item. Can you do an add-on video to clearly show everyone how that is done properly also? Again, great job and thanks!!
Hi Leah, I've come across so many of your videos while researching DIY's. I thought I would give you a shout out. You rock! So nice to see a knowledgeable woman doing these tutorials. Thank you from Canada!

Amazing teacher. Very refreshing to see a lady with great talents. Both manually and explanatory.. Gave me the confidence to go out and buy my own air compressor, for my new little business venture - carbon fibre car parts 😀 Thank you and all the best from the U.K!
I have to say your a great teacher and instructor. I just bought a gun set it to generic settings, dropped some activator in, quick test mist and ran it over hydrofilm and dipped succesfully (Easy?). No, I just got lucky with an educated guess from past airbrushing. Jane is absolutely correct. Put water play with it. when you ready, grab a some junk, prep it and spray it. Thanks Jane
Suggestion ---if you take nail and make holes around the inner rim of paint cans the paint can drip back into can and it will still seal for future use. Love watching your videos ,never to old to learn! THANKS!

By far 1 of the most sensible videos on how to start using the spray gun.hands on.

Also easier to screw the parts together and the teflon to engage into the thread rather than being pushed up and away.
Great video, I am learning a lot from it.
The top threaded part of the air Regulator is a ball seat and should not have thread tape on it.
Somebody always leaving their 2 cents laying around!
So I did it wrong all those years with a dozen different air tools. So far no problems yet.

One tip I recommend is don’t try to spray your “project” all in one go , it should take u about 2-3 coats for your “project” to be finished

Thanks Jane
Thank you Leah, I was about to buy a small compresor to paint my house.
Suggestion ---if you take nail and make holes around the inner rim of paint cans the paint can drip back into can and it will still seal for future use. Love watching your videos ,never to old to learn! THANKS!
Grrrrrrrreat video sweetie! Thank you so much for your great tips! God bless you!!!
Excellent lesson on how to use a spray gun. I'm about to try it for the fist time and had no idea what those knobs and dial were for. Thanks!
I used one tonight. it took 45 mins just to do a chimney... i will enjoy this lesson.
Complete, thorough, step by step video. Answers a lot of questions. Thanks!
Good video. A video on how to clean a gun would be helpful also.
thanks, Garth, good suggestion
Absolutely. If you can't maintain a tool than you shouldn't use it.
Garth Goldberg don't worry, it's from harbor freight lol
I would fill the gun with gasoline and spray it to clean it

You can't lay paint down that thick if you're painting something like a car. It will cause orange peel, if you want a smooth finish you need to do thin even coats.
yes, that was way to thick. you also need to know about tip / orifice size.
You are so thorough and concise on your description, making this process easy to understand. Thank you!!
Great tutorial :)
thanks!
Yes lad... funny finding you here lol hope all good...this doll wood be the same as yourself.very good at explaining things to the average 4 by 2
