I bought this nail gun as we were planning to renew all the fencing in our back garden. As this involved 19 double slatted fence panels, 10 of which needed to be cut down in size, we knew there would be a need for a great th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHQsUrwNr5GQrnx9V4xDdUr56qxwuiBHt deal of re-stapling the wooden slats to the wooden framework. Each alteration required the re-stapling of 62 wooden slats with double staples. Prior to starting the work we ordered sufficient additional staples as per the instructions with the gun.The gun performed fantastically throughout the entire project with no jams of misfires. The adjustable power was excellent allowing the staples to be fired into the 8mm slats to the correct depth. For the price paid this was a bargain and it proved itself to be so reliable and versatile making an arduous task much quicker and professional. I cannot recommend this product highly enough and it will be used on many other projects in the future.
As a general rule I keep adding water until the run off from the stirring stick doesn't stand up on the surface of the paint if that makes sense . Works for me anyway. Great vid👍

Always a good experience and learned something new too. HVLP method also delivers a much softer spray which reduces material waste - but there is a catch and that is that most guns of this type required a FAD of at least 6.5 to operate. To get that requires a CFM that's 50% higher on the compressor. Mostly this means 100 Litre dual motor with dual cylinders e.g. more expensive to buy (but there are a few exceptions). The benefit is using less paint e.g. the "Running" cost is reduced, but there is probably is no such thing as zero oversprays so some kind of spray booth would be a good idea. Most reviews of "used" equipment show it to be coated in a fine mist of paint. There is clearly a before and after getting a spray booth effect. Perhaps with an extractor fan in the outside shed, you could relax the 50cm rule and put the compressor where your old one was installed (without issues)? Would putting a regulator on the compressor be a good option e.g. to regulate the pressure for each device connected - that's how mine was supplied. Of course, regulating the pressure in the outside shed wouldn't work very well. FWIW I found a spray booth on Amazon that doesn't have a floor. At first, I thought this was a limitation, but the more I think about it, it fits in with a workshop e.g. you can lower it over two horses and a door, etc. and a dustsheet is easy to come by too. Brilliant Matt. The ANi R160 spray gun. Never heard of this low air volume pressure type but as soon as you pulled that trigger I was IMPRESSED. I could tell instantly by the fan and coverage straight away. As for tips; Don't skimp on washing your equipment it will come back and bite you half way through a job. This one is a must if funds allow; Use separate guns (hoses, pots etc.) for clear coat and pigmented finishes because no matter how well you clean your equipment the unwanted coloured spot will appear resulting in an additional unwanted respray lol. You have a good spraying technique. Tony.

I resprayed an entire van using the exact same gun. I now have the 1.3 version too they are amazing guns and capable of punching well above their weight. If you search YT for the Gunman, he tests these guns from the first R150 version right through to the current R160Q Compact (same gun) series 1.2, 2.3 & 1.4 fluid tips. You can run them from smaller compressors than yours!
Hi Keith, don't underestimate yourself. Useful tips and information as usual. Have you considered something like a "pop-up" gazebo with sides for spraying outside? It will, protect the spray pattern from any wind and keep the finish uniform, keep wayward debris (leaves, dust, insects, etc) out, contain overspray, and may even allow you to work if it's raining. Just a thought. Could even double as additional workshop space in inclement weather.
I sprayed my van in cellulose with an 8 litre compressor lol , trust me , it did the job , after a mop and polish , it looked great , good video , cheers .
I wouldn't worry to much about the compressor being where you have it as air can still circulate around it ok. I think the dimensions they give are to cover their arse if it was to totally enclosed.
great informative video, ive been usung a compressor & sprayer for a few years now, one bit of advice ill share is never use the same gun for varnish or stains no matter how hard you clean the gun you will come to regret it... I keep a seperate gun just for varnish and one for stains ( cheep hvlp guns) hope this helps
I have just painted a bookshelf and stained it with a small gun. I thoroughly cleaned it, but staining colour never went away, so I intend to use it for that purpose from now on.

Good concise video with all the relevant information. Im no sprayer either but I have done a little. It has to be said, I have a pretty good electric sprayer but the difference in quality of finish that can be achieved compared to an actual air sprayer is night and day. You don't have to be great at spraying to get a really good finish with an air sprayer, if your not as confident when you first start (as I was) just turn the air down a bit. The difference is that it comes out like a very fine mist. my first one was one of those kits you get with a 24litre compressor so it wasn't exactly the best quality but the finish you could achieve was fantastic and even though now I have a better more expensive spray gun, I still use my original gun for most of my projects and only Use the better one for car repair work.
Hi Keith, watched this vid a couple of times. A lot of manufactures/spray vids recommend a > 1.8 nozzle for primer. Do you think the midi spray gun (like this) with a 1.4 tip is somehow limited? NB biggest surface i would like to spray is a door as well.

when you were painting and you mentioned that some kind of piece of plastic landed on the door. It was from the Teflon tape That you put to tighten. sometimes a little piece will go through the air flow and we'll land on your painting surface..
50lt should be fine. that's what I have for table tops and it meets the need. Quick fix for the hinge screws. push in a couple of matchsticks or toothpicks. A lot quicker and does a good job :)
Good video. I sprayed all of the cabinet doors from my kitchen, 58 of the buggers, in a double garage and there was a lot of dust overspray when I was done. In hindsight I would have been very well advised to dust sheet and tape off everything.

My friend, for the future, when you have holes that are bigger than the screws, get some wood toothpicks and wood glue, coat the toothpicks with glue, good coat of glue and stick them in the hole, let them dry and after the glue is dry, cut off any of the toothpicks that are sticking out and attach the door and screw away.
Could you tell me More about the paints you used? Some paints won't get through a gun so would be nice to know what you used, and what you mixed it with etc to thin? Was it just water?
Word of warning on over spray make sure your car isn't parked down wind. I know from experience as it was in the summer the drift went all over the car and baked on hard then had to spend ages getting off my windscreen 😕. Good Video as ever. Not 100% sure that is an original door as the shot of the bottom it looked like it was put together with dowels and for that age I'd expect mortise and tenon joints. 👍
Hi Keith Lwa is the sound power is the compressor, think of this as it’s total energy at source. With regard the sound levels Lp, you need to know the reference distance this should be measured at.
Iiiinteresting! Im very curious as to how much work it is to set this up and clean up afterwards though. Surely there is a sweet spot where its not worth using this over a spray can? Ive also seen people mention that theres quite a bit of wasted paint that gets cleaned out of the gun and the canister after each use, that may be a factor too? Ive been contemplating doing exactly what you did (upgrading compressor and getting spray guns for that) or if I should look into those stand-alone sprayers that seem a bit easier to move around outside. I cant have a dedicated area for it though, so one of those pop-up spray tents could be nice both for overspray and drying without half a wasp nest and the neighbours cat getting to the wet paint.
Is there room for your compressor in the loft space? Could add some fixed outlets around the workshop, and have extension hose for outside. Would be quieter and potentially more spacious?
I'm looking for a set up that will be able to spray a thick epoxy boat paint. What SCFM/CFM would you recommend? Also, do you have any experience with Pressure Pots?
i have a qtech stage 5 hvlp its awesome i have sprayed loads of items like 5 doors banister spindles ... im looking at spraying kitchen units and cabinets ect ... you use lot less paint than useing a brush and roller

You didn't mention, and i don't think you used, an in line air dryer. I'm wondering if this might not actually be needed if you're using water based products, but i assumed i'd need one. Maybe one to ask your uncle about!

Cheers Chris. I wasn't too fussy about the finish on the door to be honest, as most of our doors in the bungalow aren't exactly painted to perfect standards! Will definitely take more care when applying clear coats to future furniture projects though 👍
This will probably depend on whether you need it to be portable, but if the compressor is noisy and needs space around it, could you put it in the loft?
I live in a flat and i was looking at ABAC for something silent, but it's almost impossible to find good info...but the noise in the video seems like it would definitely bother my neighbours.

I bought Chalk Paint can a few weeks a go. To be honest I always believe that to use any can is wasting material, cause it goes everywhere and also where it should go. I bought it becuase, I forgot a home recepy I had to make my own chalk paint😟😟😟 Sadly I confirmed what you said, is just paying some money for not much product. Now, in your case, the finish is the difference, but to clean that equipment take time toó, so I still belive brush, is much better. You shaking the can, really you are so funny, but is true, it felt kind of silly shaking a can, know exactly what you mean. Thank you for your honesty Keith🌟🌟🌟🌟
I just started myself with a spray gun from harbor freight. I used latex paint and i thinned it down with water, but the paint barely came out. :( So i suspect i didn't thin it down enough. I'll try again with another project in the near future.

As it's water based u also need to clean the gun with thinners after cleaning with water as water will rust parts of the gun it's a must.

Keith, 85dB LWA is a sound poWer level which is the level at source. Noise levels expressed as Lp are a sound Pressure level at a given distance.

I use a tray of water to pickup the over spray.
Damp towel also works.

My friend, for the future, when you have holes that are bigger than the screws, get some wood toothpicks and wood glue, coat the toothpicks with glue, good coat of glue and stick them in the hole, let them dry and after the glue is dry, cut off any of the toothpicks that are sticking out and attach the door and screw away.
I guess spraying leaves a nice level finish, well better than I could with a brush anyway 😁 great video Keith
Is it ok to thin acrylic paint with water as its not water Based? I thought you had to use Cellulose thinners.
Noob question, will any water based emulsion paint work, once thinned appropriately with water, or do you need a specific brand/type of paint?

Some paints won't get through a gun so would be nice to know what you used, and what you mixed it with etc to thin? Was it just water?

Word of warning on over spray make sure your car isn't parked down wind. I know from experience as it was in the summer the drift went all over the car and baked on hard then had to spend ages getting off my windscreen 😕.
Good Video as ever. Not 100% sure that is an original door as the shot of the bottom it looked like it was put together with dowels and for that age I'd expect mortise and tenon joints. 👍

Hi Keith Lwa is the sound power is the compressor, think of this as it’s total energy at source.
With regard the sound levels Lp, you need to know the reference distance this should be measured at.

Iiiinteresting! Im very curious as to how much work it is to set this up and clean up afterwards though. Surely there is a sweet spot where its not worth using this over a spray can? Ive also seen people mention that theres quite a bit of wasted paint that gets cleaned out of the gun and the canister after each use, that may be a factor too?
Ive been contemplating doing exactly what you did (upgrading compressor and getting spray guns for that) or if I should look into those stand-alone sprayers that seem a bit easier to move around outside. I cant have a dedicated area for it though, so one of those pop-up spray tents could be nice both for overspray and drying without half a wasp nest and the neighbours cat getting to the wet paint.
Is there room for your compressor in the loft space? Could add some fixed outlets around the workshop, and have extension hose for outside. Would be quieter and potentially more spacious?
Compressor tanks need draining regularly so not a great idea really 👍

I'm looking for a set up that will be able to spray a thick epoxy boat paint. What SCFM/CFM would you recommend? Also, do you have any experience with Pressure Pots?
i have a qtech stage 5 hvlp its awesome i have sprayed loads of items like 5 doors banister spindles ... im looking at spraying kitchen units and cabinets ect ... you use lot less paint than useing a brush and roller

You'd need a bigger compressor for that

Cheers Chris. I wasn't too fussy about the finish on the door to be honest, as most of our doors in the bungalow aren't exactly painted to perfect standards! Will definitely take more care when applying clear coats to future furniture projects though 👍
This will probably depend on whether you need it to be portable, but if the compressor is noisy and needs space around it, could you put it in the loft?
The condensate needs to be drained regularly so it would be a bit of a pain. Good idea though

I live in a flat and i was looking at ABAC for something silent, but it's almost impossible to find good info...but the noise in the video seems like it would definitely bother my neighbours.

I bought Chalk Paint can a few weeks a go. To be honest I always believe that to use any can is wasting material, cause it goes everywhere and also where it should go. I bought it becuase, I forgot a home recepy I had to make my own chalk paint😟😟😟
Sadly I confirmed what you said, is just paying some money for not much product. Now, in your case, the finish is the difference, but to clean that equipment take time toó, so I still belive brush, is much better.
You shaking the can, really you are so funny, but is true, it felt kind of silly shaking a can, know exactly what you mean.

I just started myself with a spray gun from harbor freight. I used latex paint and i thinned it down with water, but the paint barely came out. :( So i suspect i didn't thin it down enough. I'll try again with another project in the near future.
