    Hey Mike, I just took cuttings of my bubble gum tunias 2 days ago and I remembered you had a prior video about that so I watched that one again and did a tray of tunia’s, homestead verbena, and cabricholia’s. They are in the greenhouse now so hopefully they do well!
    I love these videos Mike!! You don’t realize how much you help us Mike, you’ve taught me so much about all of this and I’ve been around this stuff almost 50 years so you can teach an old dog new tricks young man and I thank you for it and I know my wife will appreciate it even more when she has a beautiful yard this summer and I didn’t spend a fortune on it.
    Thank you for spending your time making these videos for us, I truly appreciate every one of them Mike!!

    Wow! I had no idea you could clone petunias until now! Cool! I have about 50 growing downstairs and I was thinking they needed to be pinched (planted them way to early! Lol) so now I know I’ll clone the cutting I take off the plants! Thanks! 😁👍

    Mike, I've said it before, that's why i always like your videos, you show the results, so many out there just say "hey here's what you do" then a week later the plant is dead and we never see that part. i also know it takes a lot of time and dedication to put these together. thank you for your time!

    Great video Mike. Epsom salts...my best friend (Grahame) aged 11 slipped a teaspoon into his mum's tea on the morning of his sister's ( Gayle) wedding. I was terrified he'd poisoned her. Fortunately it all worked out in the end, Gayle had a fantastic day. Brenda, Grahame's mum unfortunately didn't give the speech she'd prepared due to other commitments, Grahame's day didn't end so well!

    After watching your petunia propegation videos a million times or more, I finally got the courage to do some cuttings. It hasn't been quite been a month and I checked them after watching this video and I had tons of roots! I repotted them so I hope I didnt jump the gun too fast. I'm so excited. I paid close to $200 on mostly petunias from an online nursery last month. Not anymore, thanks mike!

    As a fluke I accidentally pulled off a 4” petunia stem and just stuck it in some previously used tomato seed starting soil in my winterizing water jug experiment. At first it didn’t look like it was going to survive but too lazy to pull out & forgot about it. Viola! Next thing I see is a flower blooming from it. It’s always a hit or miss on plants every yr so I’ve grown custom to them dying & always amazed when they don’t. Plants are so much stronger than we think they are.

    Very nice test, Mike. Your mixture looks like the best choice. I think you also found strong evidence that Epsom Salt isn't really as helpful as we've been told by, well, everyone. As you said, the petunia with only Epsom Salt did the same as nothing, maybe a little worse. I've quit using Epsom Salt in my mixes, and I think I get equal or better results. This video is such a time saver❗
    My High School Classmates love flowers. I'm sharing it to 390 students.
    But, one thing I like to reference:
    If nurseries are apply these types of super growth elements, isn't that a reason why consumers purchases lose their flowers since they go into shock from "lack of" chemical watering.

    • @MikeKincaid79
      @MikeKincaid79  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think people lose them because they don't care for them. Petunias require a ton of water and fertilizer and most people just don't realize that before they buy them unfortunately.

      @@MikeKincaid79 It also depends on when you purchase the petunias. You really can't have them indoors for too long as the leaves start to turn yellow. This year (2022) I waited a bit longer into April. Even still, three weeks in the house was a bit too long. I did loose some and was rather upset about it because a flat of petunias are running $23.50, at least by me. You really have to watch to make sure the petunias just stay moist and not wet.

I am going to try your concoction and see how my plants do this year. I was able to purchase on-line the A and B of Mother Plant. I hear people were finding it hard to find both A and B. I've heavily cut back my petunias twice during the season and they came back as bushy as ever. I have to discard my pots/plants early this year as I am moving soon, but I've learned a lot using this mixture of fertilizer and the kind of petunias to use in a heavily deer infested area in northern Wisconsin. I'm already planning for my garden for 2023 and saving money in propagating petunias for the next growing season. Hi Mike, Just wanted to say how happy I am to see how huge your channel is getting! You deserve it with such amazing and extensive videos that take months at times. I am currently trying to root a couple of my petunias but was wondering if you've ever done a video on Impatiens and rooting them to keep for the following years? If so, could you point me to the video and if not could you?

      Thanks so much! I'm in awe of how big this channel has gotten and although it's evolved over the years, I try to keep it down to earth and real, staying connected to how it got started. Glad you enjoy it. I don't have any impatiens videos but, yes, you can do the same with them. Maybe it's time to do some videos about them.

    Hi Mike, SO excited to see a new video! I am curious about how you propagated the petunia cuttings back in January. What environment did you use? Was it the same as your other petunia cuttings from your previous video? It looked like you were using a grow light and they were indoors? I was hoping you could explain a bit more in detail about how you got these beautiful petunias from point "A" to point "B." I'm in the Seattle area so our zone is the same and I'd love to have the success you're having now but am not sure if you used the same method as you did in your previous video that was done later in the spring. We just now have petunias available in the local nurseries that are big enough to propagate and I'm chomping at the bit to do this! Thanks again for your entertaining and informative videos!

    • @MikeKincaid79
      @MikeKincaid79  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey neighbor. For this experiment I just propagated them indoors under a grow light setup that I have. All the videos I did through this past winter on houseplants are under the same light so you can watch them to get a better idea of what I'm using. It's an 8 bulb fixture that uses t8 fluorescent bulbs that you can get at Lowes or Home Depot. They're not grow lights but they are 6500K to encourage vegetative growth. The video I did later in the spring was done a couple years ago out in my hoophouse that is covered with 50% shade plastic.

    • @natalieaaby7002
      @natalieaaby7002 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MikeKincaid79 thanks! I hadn't thought to watch any of your indoor winter plant videos so I will check them out. I'm attempting to propagate (using your petunia method) Calibrachoa cuttings and so far so good! I'll be over the moon if it works! Those are by FAR my favorite annuals but are SO expensive and virtually impossible to even find seeds so I'm hoping this'll work! On another note... My parent's entire backyard is lined with Hydrangeas that my mom propagated throughout the years. Her method is pretty random...I grew up wondering what these "dirt Popsicles" (the failed attempts) all over the greenhouse was but I can now appreciate what she was doing! I think even YOU would be dang impressed (: . I'm looking forward to propagating my own using your tote method...I think it will improve my chances, especially in our bizarre weather. So happy to have found your TH-cam site and look forward to watching what your wife is doing!

    Mike, You motivated me. I did 4 cuttings of my purple petunias, 3 cuttings of a red crepe myrtle in my front yard, 3 cuttings of a white crepe myrtle in my landscape bed, 3 cuttings of a peonie from my side yard and 3 cuttings of a big thuja from my my back yard. I sprinkled a dab of milorganite ferltizer(organic 5-4-0) in each hole and used the hormodin 3 on each cutting. I had a nice clear tote but couldnt find the lid so used a clear plastic bag on the top by securing it using a bungie I had laying around. I gave them a soaking like you showed and put them in a place that gets 30 minutes - hour of sunshine per day. The temp was around the mid 60's today when I did them earlier today. I did notice some of the leaves wilted a little, Is that ok?

    • @MikeKincaid79
      @MikeKincaid79  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad to motivate you but get those cuttings out of the sun! Don't ever let the direct sunlight hit the plastic or it will heat up in there and cook your cuttings. Put the whole setup on the north side of a building where it gets no direct sun but plenty of overhead sky light.
