They should have games that are even better but big AAA game makers don't like to take risks. Making a game today is like making a big Marvel movie. There's also politics involved. Gaming was more niche back when there were arcades so everything was about fun.
My mom used to own this game for her store and me and my brother beat it. I had that first level down to a T. I would jump on that small roofing as a glitch to beat the first boss. Great memories.
I fantasized of Craig Ferguson sobbing; like the Warner Bros looney tunes male cartoon barnyard hunting dog 🐶 Jack, knowing how sadistic this VG (video game) is.

@@Macrochenia and the best way to do this is by intentionally shooting the bottom right crate of the ''crate hill'' to expend the bullets very quickly before meeting the boss
Streets of Rage was initially meant to be a spinoff of ESWAT, called DSWAT. The remnant is your special move in the first game with the offsider cop with the bazooka. But it seems they also reused the concept of the fat firebreather enemy from ESWAT in SOR, which is actually given context in ESWAT, that his ability comes from his flammable alcohol breath. He even uses the same rolling move in later SOR games (I don't recall him using the roll in SOR1, but may be mistaken) The Boomerang boss also seems to be the inspiration for one of SOR1's bosses. Interesting that they went with a King Kong type boss here, as they'd later use Godzilla in the initial versions of Revenge of Shinobi!
I like the first mission after he goes "E SWAT" his target guy to arrest is a dude wanted for "Attempted Murder" and he slaughters like 160 dudes making the bust. Them Regan years..
Superb game, I used to play it in my childhood, at the end of the 80s... And still playing it at 41 years old on my Nintendo Switch (softmodded) or the PC (Retroarch or Mame). A blast from the past.

I have to chuckle at the technical specs of the ICE suit during the attract mode. It lists features like "Lunch Cude", "Fried Citken", and "Karaoke Mic."
Suncraft is actually a legitimate name of four different companies, namely, Suncraft Knives, which is in Japan, Suncraft Technologies, which is a print company, Suncraft Industries, which makes sprinklers, as well as some tools and clamps, and Suncraft International, which transports, as well as makes, boats. However, as far as I know, none of the companies uses the logo that is found on the container of the semi truck, though. Champions Sporting Goods is also the real life name of a sporting goods chain which is now known as Champs Sports, but there is also another Champions Sporting Goods that is the name of a smaller chain of sporting goods stores in Massachusetts. I also think that there is a Costco in this game, but part of the logo is obscured before you enter into a building.
Hey.... Can someone tell me what "Fried Citken" is? Or maybe someone can clue me in on "Fingeer Five"? Also why is a Karaoke Mic necessary to fight crime?
What an interesting time in gaming. The Sega genesis version has fuck all to do with the arcade version. I dig it. It’s like the snes and genesis would get 2 totally different versions of alien 3.
It would have been nice to at least repair the armour between missions... but at least it's no longer making dolphin sounds after getting hit. I never understood why they had to go with that sound effect... unless Ecco was somehow influencing the Megadrive port.
Games like this (shinobi, rolling thunder, ninja gaiden etc) ate so many of my quarters. I wish we had quality games like this these days.
