- Contractors has a few bugs still, yes, but it also has a bunch of polish in interesting places. So we’re going to take a deeper look at gun handling, voice chat, movement, how to stabilise scoped weapons, and just how powerful some of the “old timey” guns can be.
Come for the info, stay for the concurrent long range headshots and garand triple kills!

If you hold B or Y while racking back the bolt on the garand you actually eject the whole clip instead of individual rounds

I absolutely loved exploring everything this game had to offer, I sat at the gun range trying out all the weapons for a while, but the only thing is I’m new to VR and got pretty nauseous after a couple games. I’m easing into it but my advice is to try out games with slower movement like the walking dead game.
you could really slow play it like i did and just play sit down games like poker so youre used to the virtual reality before you jump into faster moving, action required games.
This. If you're new to VR, always start slow to ease yourself into it.

You can use the physical gunstock calibration to make it even more comfortable to shoot that way too!
Best Contractors advice I ever got was to play Onward instead

Being able to put a mag and pull the bolt back with one hand while being holstered is amazing. Say you gotta switch to your pistol well grab it with your hand and with the free one reload the primary with it. It’ll take time to get used to it but it’ll become muscle memory

The reloading while the gun is on your hip trick would be good in the halo mod. You can reload your BR while holding your energy sword in the other hand.
for the first one, about how the trigger and grp buttons do different things... IT ISNT EXCLUSIVE TO CONTRACTERS!
Contractors isn't the only game with the grip/trigger split, but it has it as the default which is how you standardise a scheme, and the unique way the functions are split gives you a very reliable and flexible toolset.
Onward and Pavlov and Zero Caliber ain't it, chief.

How is your game so clear? Ive used sidequest to turn my texture quality up and it still doesnt look as good as this. Everything at a distance is blurry and I cant see my bullets impact the way I could in your video.

Late to the party here but if you keep your off hand on the rifle you can use your dominant hand to reload a bolt action without ruining your aim. Works in this. Pavlov. Onward and so on.
The front hand orientation doesn't set on grab like it does in onward, so when you remove your rear hand the view will jump in contractors unless you're using a physical stock.
Also, because you can one-hand bolt actions (unlike pavlov) in contractors it becomes very fast to just use your off-hand to cycle the bolt. It's a skill worth learning to dominate at bolt-action only matches.
If you look at any video where i'm using a physical stock you'll see me cycling with the back hand.

When i play contractors with link cable there is a glitch or bugg where u have to really press Hard to shoot on The tigger and it sometimes doesnt register. And throwing a grenade or anything is horrible to, it just release to late and so fourth.
But if u play it without cable and just directly from quest 2 it works good. What is The deal with that?

i'm extra late to the party but every time i try putting the ring of the rear hand controller on my cheek, it loses tracking and keeps flying off or freezing for a second when i pull it back, it's really bad

You need to maintain visual contact between the cameras and the controller ring, so cheek might not be far enough away to be seen properly. I use the tip of my chin which works, but you can also stick your thumb back to give a bit more distance.
Thank you for the info! But which is the radio button? And ill get shot in the leg or foot and die but shoot people in the head or chest 4-6 times they still dont die regularly. Any thoughts?
Can you run this game without a PC? I've been wanting to get into VR but honestly getting a PC that's able to run it will be way more expensive than the gear itself
That's what's so special about the quest, it doesn't need a pc at all. Everything you need for vr comes in the box, just turn it on and go.
And if/when you do have access to a poweful pc you can connect the quest via a usb cable or over wifi and experience full-on pc vr.
All of my vr videos here have been made without going near a pc, just straight on the quest, then import the videos to an ipad for editing.

is it best to use a gunstock for this game? i just got into vr and its hard to aim. In real life im a great shooter but this is just different lol
If you like fps games it's definitely worth getting a stock.
Under settings you can calibrate the gun to rest on your other wrist like a pistol for stabilization

On the controls menu scroll down, there's instant turn, smooth turn, and off.

Not sure why you can't pick them up, I've dropped guns loads and always been able to scoop them up again.
You could set the grips to toggle instead of hold to stop dropping things, but even though it's easier on the hands it feels weird to me.
If your sitting on a bed or couch the ground level is beneath you so that's why you can't pick up

Only got my quest two in the last few days, this game but on the fence with this game looks okay but not sure it’s worth it.
The game just got a massive overhaul patch this week, if you like CoD at all this is the result the best vr equivalent.
You'll need to have strong vr legs to play out as it's very fast, but try the free Pavlov Shack on applab first to see how you go.

Because it's a shooting game set partially in an unspecified part of the former USSR. So why not?
"Unique" wouldnt be the right word because pavlov also uses the grip and trigger for different actions

The menu area? The devs set it to night time every now and then, usually for halloween.

Why does the quest look better on a recording than actually having the quest on?
Because the field of view of the quest headset is several times larger than that of a monitor. The standard resolution of a quest 2 game is about 1530x1530 (though this varies), but that encompasses your entire view, whereas watching a 1080p video on a tv covers a fraction of that view.
This is why high quality 360 videos for viewing in vr are typically 8k these days.
How do I switch my controls as my grip for the gun is the same as pulling ammo and I can't seem to find where to switch it but your video is fantastic
Hit options and it's all the way on the left. Make sure clip interaction is set to trigger, and gear interaction is set to grip. That's the default.

Ayo is there a way to grab the mag with the right hand while holding the gun with the left hand. Cause I saw it on the trailer and when I tried it it never worked just went to the trigger
It used to be a thing, you could do whatever with either hand, but it got removed a while back.
I think they were just trying to streamline gun handling for normal play by making the rear hand magnet to the trigger.
Not sure if it will come back, but it should be an option.
Update on this is that the dev confirmed it is a bug, and ambidextrous ammo handling shall return!
And a new co-op mode is penciled in for April, and quest mod support in July.

I'm not sure what the problem is, this is how all vr shooters work.
You could try turning on the virtual stock to limit the rear hand.
How do you put shells on the side of the shotgun?
You just release the shell when it's around the side rail and it should snap into place.
This is affected by server latency though, so it should be instant and crispy when offline, but the worse your ping is to the server the further the shell will fall before snapping in to place, and the longer you have to hover over the rail to make sure it doesn't just drop to the ground.
Where is that sniper that you used
First rifle was the mosin nagant, second rifle was the m1 garand. Both are in the ww2 loadout.

If you're only on the quest platform i would get onward, as of right now it's the more complete game.
When mod support comes to the quest version of contractors it will probably leapfrog onward, the mods will make a way bigger difference in that game because they include custom weapons, low gravity, custom game modes...
Onward now, contractors later this year.

Can you not fully ads on this game? What's the point of optics if not?
I'm not sure what you mean by "fully" ADS, but you can aim in this just like you can in any other vr shooter.
Some guns have itty bitty scopes, but the awm certainly lets you fill your view with glass, and i commonly get really close to holo sights on smgs.
@@GameCubits i just mean like call of duty red dots. Can you aim down and use the red dot itself or is it more like halo in that you're basically hip firing.
@@Tjk317 - It just looks like he's not looking thru the scope on the recording but in his view he is using the sight. I thought the same thing at first.
You can ADS like he already answeredl. Quest 2 only records left eye so you dont see it unless they use that eye, as he also did.

@@Machingonjoe In some ways it looks better in the headset. It's definitely higher res than the video (rendering res is around 1500x1500 vs 1080 of recording), and the video has a very low bitrate which makes things look grainier.
In headset the game looks clean and runs well, only the simplified map textures and geometry stands out.
PC version has much nicer maps and better lighting, but in the heat of battle that doesn't really matter.
@@GameCubits I really do appreciate your detailed response, its that my quest is supposed to be here on Saturday and I’ve never played on a quest. I have a psvr and I could not believe how good and detailed the gun models look in that game. Because of the psvr Im used to everything looking like shit

How do I get some money?
There is no money in the game, you only have a limited number of points per loadout you can use any way you want. Same number of points as everyone else.
Money may come into the game at a later date with the addition of a progression system.
COD MAPS PLEASE EVERYONE GET DOWNLOADING THEM WHY IS NOBODY PLAYING THESE MODDED MAPS THEY ARE MUCH BETTER THAN THE MAPS IN THE ORIGINAL GAME COME ON GUYS GET THIS OUT THERE THEY'RE ALL FREE AND THEY'RE CLASSICS.
No one is playing mod maps because the quest version doesn't support mods yet and it makes up 95% of the player population.
@@GameCubits ah right so that explains it then. I might do a vid myself just to get awareness out there as the more that know the more chance this game will pick up with the mods. This game is the best fps vr shooter I have played and with the cod maps they're amazing.

Why are your arms gone?
No arms = better visibility and less aiming latency.

How do you record!
At any time, hit the right hand menu button, sharing, then record video is the upper left option.
It records a square image because that's how vr renders, from your left eye view (not sure why). There will be a little red record light in the top of your headset view, but that won't be in the video.
Then in a video editor i just add a bit of sharpening and some tweaks.
Just be careful when recording long sessions that you don't go over 4gb as you'll lose the whole video without some serious recovery work.
Good game.. but lazy devz.. 0 tech support. 0 communication. After update to v47, it is broken on q2.. and they don't patch or acknowledge the bugs
Do you think the gun stock is worth buying or is it over rated ?
Gun stocks are mostly for immersive feeling, but there's a couple of cases where they're genuinely useful in contractors because you can calibrate all of the guns:
1) Hitting sights faster gives you an advantage, and with a gunstock it's pure muscle memory and every gun will line up identically.
2) Shake on long scopes will be naturally reduced without having to use smoothing.
3) You can reload sniper rifles with your back hand without breaking your vision. With the front hand locked, release grip with the back hand to reload and the gun won't budge. Impossible to do without a stock.
Using grenades is more difficult with a stock, and a stock is useless for pump shotguns and pistols, so that's the tradeoff. I've gone on and off with stocks, they're nice but not necessary to play well unless you're playing a specific way at high level.
Absolutely no question if a stock is better or not. I guarantee that you will double your kd with a stock. You can make your own quite easily with a wooden curtain pole which is what I did until my sanlaki dual magnetic gun stock arrived. As stated above there are trade offs but in terms of aiming stability you will not want to go into a game without a stock after using one.
