What I love about onward sometimes is the fact that you are getting shot at and you hear the bullets fly past your head and you get all tensed up. It just feels more like a horror game sometimes.
At least for me its about if you want to play with your friends or not, onward requires more communication and its slower paced making it so you are almost always together, contractors is more of a solo game because of the fast pacing and emphasis on dying fast and respawning in a random place, and low teamwork is required. I know its all a matter of opinions but from someone whos been on VR since the vive released and over 100 hours on contractors and onward....I tend to find SOOOOO much more fun in contractors than onward and I feel they got a lot of things right that other fps havent. If youre worried about attachments so many mods offer in an insane amount of guns and furniture to put on the guns. Also the community is wayyyyy better on contractors than what ive found on onward. Last but not least I always feel like im trying to find the "right spot" to grip my gun with both hands and a lot of times I have to look down and find the spot they want you to grab. Contractors feels so much smoother during gun fights and I feel like I can focus more on the fight rather than trying to fumble around for mags and to properly hold my rifle. Just my two cents. Good video tho!
Whats good and both bad about contractors is that it relies more on the community mods to add content rather than the actual devs. Meanwhile onward is almost completely developer created apart from a list of custom maps.

I say get both games. Both games are different enough. It's literally a Call of Duty Vs OG Ghost Recon/Insurgency. That being said I myself play ContractorsVR a lot more. Game feels way more polished and gets way more support and updates. MOD scene isn't even close. Contractors literally is COD/Halo/Battlefront. When it comes to the play base and community its not even close. Contractors Community is pretty friendly, while Onward community is honestly the most toxic game community I have ever seen. Very common to join a game and people are just TKing each other, drawing dicks etc. Overall Onward is very toxic. I do own both and I would say get both. Both games are different enough. Games not very $$$. Contractors is $20 while Onward is $25. So for less than the price of one AAA title you can get both.
Once one plays Contractors it is hard to return to Onward. The detailed worlds in Contractors and the mods make the game more interesting, immersive. I rarely return to Onward and the quality of competitors has declined..
I am growing and learning contractors recently but my go to is a faster paced shooter Hyper Dash constant action and more game modes. I love Payload maps you see. Also there is Breachers which is new and only available on quest 2. As its an open ALPHA. Which the developers who made this are also the makers of Hyper Dash (Triangle Factory). Breachers is a very slow paced tactical rainbow six siege in vr game 😊

The way Contractors work, ALL weapons can kill with 1 headshot at a range of 15 meters. Once past 15 meters, the P250 pistol will take two headshots to kill. So basically all weapons have a range for a 1-kill headshot. Assault rifles and especially sniper rifles will be the most powerful and I believe the latter has no distance damage degradation and a head-shot is always a kill. There is also armor protection which helps absorb hits. There are distinct recoil patterns for every weapon that you can try to familiarize to be better at it. There is also snapping near miss sounds in Contractors, but it seems to come and go after each update. I have both games. Onward is frustrating because of the lack of updates. The animation on Onward which was broken after it was ported to Quest 2 from the PC version v1.7 was two years ago. They still haven't fixed it.
The modding community is what makes Çontractors......that on top of contractors already smooth gameplay......... I never thought in my lifetime I'd be playing COD MW2 maps in VR(the greatest FPS game ever arguably).......🍇 If your dream was COD VR..... this is almost 60%... the other 40% is all the extra stuff...kill assist etc... that's obviously not in the game(but I be will come).
Contractors wins hands down. I started with Onward. I found it interesting, but once I started playing Contractors, Onward became less appealing. The lack of meaningful updates and limited game play is killing Onward whilst Contractors is booming. I started playing Contractors when the community was relatively small and at times games were a bit repetitive but once modding was allowed and new maps introduced almost weekly it created a bit of a revolution in the VR gaming world. I believe it has drawn more people into the VR gaming world than any other shooter, and the possibility is it will draw many more away from their consoles and pcs. I have three Xboxes(Xbox Series X and One X/S) and a number of Pcs, but I am now considering selling them to focus fully on VR.. I think it will also lead to a revolution in how controllers are designed. They definitely need to add a few more buttons or triggers. The intensity of the game requires more quality in build. I have worn out and broken two controllers in a very small period of time, and they are far more expensive than an Xbox controller, for instance.
Onward is more slow intense tactical realistic. Contractors offer so much more content is more fast arcade. Depend how you like to play you gonna have fun in one or other. Anyways the movement and interactions I feels better in onward.
Pavlov is amazing, It's both csgo, TTT, Escape from tarkov, WW2 push, WITH FUCKING TANKS!, and even the old hidden mod. This game have so much more to show that i'm sad this video was not onwards vs Pavlov.
Contractors is great, tons of mods, once I played a mod that basically turned it into onward, but yeh community is kinda sweaty so you’ll get killed a lot

Does contractors have any coop besides zombies? I started it recently and everyone says it’s better then onward.. I just don’t see it, I’m a coop type of guy, so far the weapon models, weapon feel and reticles to me are better in onward, add coop it’s gadgets and walkie talkie system.. idk maybe I’m missing something in contractors?
I've played both they are genuinely very good vr fps games onward most of the time (uplink) you get to the point and camp under the stairs or something its a fun game if you're in to a serious game or just in it for the shits and giggles can't say much about contractor as I only have 50-70 hours but I like it I switch to Onward-Contractors and pavlov they are all fun games
yea I get addicted to one of them for a certained amount of time because its a switch up of gameplay, though I can't ditch onward updateless or not that was the first game I got for vr

Sure I'd be happy to talk on that! I wanted to make a comment on this in the video, but the availability of lobbies is something that can always change in a game and I didn't want to put in information that could so easily fall out of date. Player numbers tend to fluctuate in both of these games but I have never had a problem getting a match in either. Occasionally it's hard to find a really good Onward match with even teams and players taking it seriously, but I've always found a decent game after cycling through a few. Contractors only has the problem of certain game modes being wildly more popular than others at times. For instance, now that Custom Loadouts have been so recently released there are a ton of games running Clone Wars, but it's hard to find a Standard game of Contractors. I doubt that will always be the case. Contractors used to be kind of hard to find a good game in a year to two years ago, but now there's always something. These are two of the most popular competitive shooters on the Quest 2, and the Quest 2 has only become more popular. So generally player numbers have only gone up over time. For the foreseeable future you won't have a problem finding a game in either.

I like Zero Caliber also. Sure, the AI are doofuses and only get one over on you because they teleport in on you most of the time but the game is a lot of fun. I enjoy unlocking guns and accessories for them. Playing co op is great too except so many squeekers, haha. Still, those kids make for good cannon fodder. 🤣
Zero Caliber is so close to being a great game. With better singleplayer design and AI improvements (also them not just spawning behind you) I think it could have had a Call of Duty level campaign.

There's still quite a few VR games in the works, but it would be nice to see more AAA quality games instead of mostly successful indie or small developer projects. Most big titles are remakes of flatscreen titles like RE4 or Bulletstorm :/

Contractors just doesn't have the right feel to me. The TTK is too high, everyone looks like they are marching, the guns just don't feel smooth at all. Onward has smooth guns, less smooth movement but I think it is better anyways. You can play contractors and basically get VR call of duty or you can get Onward and play a combat simulator. I always have more motivation for Onward. Especially with all the updates rolling out. The co-op feels like you are in russian territory being hunted by military, the ai follow loud noises and unless you are playing on the highest difficulty they don't react to silenced gunfire. They don't just know exactly where you are at and hunt you down unless you give them solid reasoning. The spawns seem weird at first but if you know the good maps and know how to survive with a gun then the games almost turn into real life and the ai starts investigating and spawning in the areas where they heard gunfire or where you were hanging out for an extended period of time but left to go somewhere else on the map. Playing 5v5 is just awesome too. Escort is fun playing on turbine or downfall. Posting up on a hill in a shadow somewhere and assassinating the V.I.P. and ending the round with a single sniper shot is a feeling no other VR game can replicate. Onward genuinely makes me want to join the military and contractors makes me want to play onward. If you are on Quest product I recommend Onward and using a laptop or PC and using sidequest to enhance the refresh rate to 90 and the graphics to 2048 (or higher but the VR can get hot or run out of battery way fast). Playing through PC has a lot of problems and if you have a PC you may as well be playing some actually good games like Half-Life Alyx, Vail VR, or Boneworks anyways not these toaster games.

There's also a survival mode that is essentially the same bu tis against opponents with guns instead of zombies.
Tbh Onwards gunfeel is worse than contractors, it depends on you but for me onward feels janky

The spawns seem weird at first but if you know the good maps and know how to survive with a gun then the games almost turn into real life and the ai starts investigating and spawning in the areas where they heard gunfire or where you were hanging out for an extended period of time but left to go somewhere else on the map.
Playing 5v5 is just awesome too. Escort is fun playing on turbine or downfall. Posting up on a hill in a shadow somewhere and assassinating the V.I.P. and ending the round with a single sniper shot is a feeling no other VR game can replicate. Onward genuinely makes me want to join the military and contractors makes me want to play onward.
If you are on Quest product I recommend Onward and using a laptop or PC and using sidequest to enhance the refresh rate to 90 and the graphics to 2048 (or higher but the VR can get hot or run out of battery way fast). Playing through PC has a lot of problems and if you have a PC you may as well be playing some actually good games like Half-Life Alyx, Vail VR, or Boneworks anyways not these toaster games.
agreed I Had to stick with one i'd be onward but have they been updating it I haven't been able to play in awhile
can you switch roles?
In Onward you can switch your class selection in between rounds, and in Contractors you can change your loadout in between lives as well.
I’m onward everyone talks about p v p but the best mode is free roam u can do anything I usually hang out then go shoot up where everyone’s at so it’s fun
