If the Teamster's want back into whatever survives they have to renegotiate an entire new CBA. I believe the Holland/ABF/Roadway acquisitions are ripe for a sell off or the court may force an auction. They speak and fight for there members well being . Fairness, equality, and making sure your represented, and by dam you have a chance to be heard.. that dont happen in the non union outfits.. you ever see any other organization fighting for better pay , insurance, retirement,.. really think about that.. how are you better off against a corporation that has the overall say and power due to that they bring money to the community.. you don't have a dam leg to stand on. Your done at that moment when they decide your done... your silenced ! Teamsters union members .. have grievances. Your heard . You have representatives.. its heard over a panel half company half union.. made to be forced to be a fair hearing.. you think you even have anything close to that with non union. Dont be fooled . You'll be with the rest of us poor . And probably still be wondering what had happened to the united States of America.. and probably still not even realize that there's no more unions... people . Any of those drivers who get another teamster job it will keep adding into the pension funds they have already accumulated. And those that do not get another teamster job, as long as they have 5 years in (5 years to be vested) that money will be there when they retire. There was an agreement between the employer and the bargining unit to pay pay a reduced amount into the pension fund several years go. Even at reduced rate the health and welfare payments to the union were still 50 million dollars. A poorly managed company hauling deeply discounted freight cannot survive when freight volumes go down.
Cooperation is what kept this company from going under for about 15 years. Sean O'Brien talked tough ,encouraged the strike vote , threatened to put the company out of business. No cooperation no job. The board of directors got their pockets full, the IBT management got their pockets full ,the rank and file got burned. Two out of three ain't bad.

All my drivers made over 100K, had dirt cheap insurance, and too many other benefits to mention. Talk about living paycheck to paycheck, I had numerous drivers that you couldn't even twist their arms into contributing to their 401K! Said they couldn't afford to. Some of these guys were in their mid forties, worked for the company 15 or more years, and hadn't saved a penny yet! But, look in the parking lot and they always had 70K pickup truck and they would trade it in for a new one every 36 months. I retired from Sysco with a pension at 55 years old after working there for 32 years. Between my 401K and Sysco stock I was just shy of 2 million dollars. People are dumb AF with their money. Oh shit, just thought of one more thing before I retired. Years ago, Sysco used to loan drivers money against their upcoming paycheck. And they did charge them interest on it. Wasn't much, but I don't blame them, it did take some paperwork handled by several people to make it happen. Had the same damn drivers OVER AND OVER getting loans. Some damn near every week. At the risk of sounding arrogant, I never needed a loan, but I would have been too humiliated to ask my boss for a loan every week. Naturally, I couldn't say this, but I wanted to say, "Dude, find something at your house worth $1000 and go to a pawn shop and pawn it every week!"

Great job! I praise the Lord ( and myself) for leaving that corrupt company management in 2008 and sailing along with my partial pension and a brand new life. Sorry to see the union bros and sis suffer the inevitable News while the non union workers at SAIA handle the freight overflowing and fir less wages & benefits… Irony or sheer coincidence?

In the old days we called this "union busting". Good job YRC! The drivers will get their pensions. Once the dust settles, United States Freight and Yellow will re-emerge as a non-union major LTL carrier offering well-paid jobs with equal benefits.

yep because without it you will be driving for min wage.....why do you think the police and all major sports have unions? they would bleed you dry for record bonuses and profits...just ask the lave workers at amazon or walmart for starters.

It's true, it's bad management and bad communication. That's the reason left left my other company, and it was a big one too. Very unorganized and I left one year after that. I'm only 3 years in and I see it in the dispatchers first, then supvisors and then Higher up. Turnover rate is crazy everywhere.

Was in the UMWA for years and years. Did it out of tradition till I had enough. Finished my mining career “scabbin” and it was awesome. We had great crews that were focused. No deadbeats smoking underground to blowup the mine.
