I would also mention that Kuat’s design philosophy of “focus firepower foreward” as opposed to Rendili’s more “even spheres of fire” definitely played more into the Imperial Fleet Doctrine
Ah, so that's why Rothana is such an important planet in EAWX. I'd always seen it as useful, but I never knew the lore reasons as to why. It also means that the Clone Wars were basically a huge KDY advertisement once the clones emerged after Geonosis. It's no wonder the Empire worked almost exclusively with them after they transitioned from the Republic.
Delighted to see the hbomb ripples hitting star wars youtube tbh. When I was finished with that video I spent a while thinking about your weaponised fandom video and how that's touching on the same issues, keep it up!
I have been reading Tales of the Jedi and one of the Republics first and biggest shipyards was in Foerost. In the KOTOR story you also have Revan and Malak raiding Foerost and stealing a lot of Republic ships right before they commence their attack after the Mandalorian Wars. By the time of the Clone Wars I do not think the shipyard is mentioned anymore. I think in the new Disney Star Wars Foerost is mentioned but nothing more.
That's true. Ulic Qel-Droma and Mandalore the Indomitable stole hundreds of Republic ships there as well. And the Mandalorians... everything they have is stolen tech geared towards their liking. More powerful, fine tuned for destruction. Everything except their armor, of course.
I am continually amazed by Simpsons edits, I NEVER saw him point at Marge and go "Her!?" Grew up watching that show and all this time later it's like seeing new episodes. ... But yeah, good video Corey 😄
To say Vigi Sesh didn't endear Kuat to the NR/Galaxy is perhaps the largest understate I've ever heard you make. I would argue she's the most notorious traitor in all of Star Wars - both timelines. If you guys know of someone who was more extreme, I'd love to hear it. Maybe you could argue Vader's betrayal of the Jedi, but I don't see that as actually as bad. Anakin/Vader betrayed them ONCE and then just was their enemy. Viqi betrayed them over and over and over and was never loyal to the Vong either. I always wanted more of a deep dive into what happened to and with Kuat after the war, if the general public ever learned what she did. I don't know if that was confirmed.
The crazy thing is, in retrospect, her betraying the NR for the Vong makes no sense. Kuat's economy is built around technological development, ship design/building specifically, the war was almost certainly bringing in tons of orders. They had all the incentive in the world be be loyal to the NR when the Vong would have (and I think DID iirc) throw their orbital rings to the planet surface.
Lol ya, she went totally insane in the end. Imagine doing all of that just to save kuat alone, which wouldn’t of even been spared regardless. If she actually managed to survive the war she would have gotten the firing squad live over the holonet along with whatever peace brigade chumps were still left.
Thracken sal solo was a pretty bad traitor. He lead the joke that was the peace brigade for a bit. Then you also have darbin sul, who was going to hand corellia over to the sith empire on a silver platter in swotor.
Don't you just love when someone creates a new Starship class for Star Wars, but doesn't give it a canon design? I mean sure that means fans get to create something, but I would like to have an official design! And not even New Canon fixed anything when they reintroduced the Mandators and Procurators.
Yeah Kuat's concentration on building massive capital ships with powerful shields and firepower like the mandator and praetor as part of local sectors defence forces pre clone wars. Placed in it good sted, once it gain the contracts for building the GAR Navy and then the Empire's favourite creator of all its ships and fighters.
Sounds like retconn work, but decent retconn work. Not like my poor, beautiful Cygnus Spaceworks. It seems like that mess was the result of a fight between a fun and a litigious faction within LucasFilm.
Love your channel man! I appreciate your love and just straightforward storytelling. Some of the bigger Star Wars TH-camrs I feel like it’s gotten to their heads and their personal IRL opinions seep way too much into their videos.. cough* (Geetsleys) cough* the smaller channels always better
Kuat of kuat struck me as someone who is very good at boardroom cloak and dagger but would much rather just be designing ships and getting his hands dirty.
Hate the methods, love the products. That's what me and some planeswalking operatives can say for the topic. What's the Simpsons ep and season used, by any chance of curiosity? Dang, come for the ship copyright violations, stay for depravity centered on breeding slaves.
Can't forget such notable designs as the Chief Wiggum Star Dreadnought.
Notable for their inefficiency, I’d guess 😂

The Dreadnought-class Heavy Cruiser, more popular than the Scout-class Battleship, Frigate-class Corvette, and Destroyer-class Transport
I really like how Rendili has a visible design philosophy of Battlestar Galactica like starships.
Corey's deadpan delivery in the Simpson's bit has me fucking dead.
Man I can't believe Tommy Tallarico designed all these powerful warships, his mother must be very proud
people using the same class of spaceship for something egregious like 8000 years is one of the most consistently funny things about sci-fi settings
and then we get super Radical changes in a ~100 Years Timespan
But they look cool though. I’d use a dreadnaught class heavy cruiser for looks alone.

A shame that the victory class has yet to even make a single official canon, on screen appearance
Who needs Victory when we have Arquitens?
Wow, even galaxies far far away aren't safe from James somerton

Rendili: Tube
Kuat: Dorito XL
Well, when the two leading starship designs in the galaxy are just "tube" and "pizza slice" there is going to be a lot of plagiarism.
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagiarist the wise?
I hear Rendili’s mother is very proud.

Ah, the good old makers of the ever pragmatic Assault Gunboat and the legendary -King Hell God Starfighter of Death- Missile Boat.
This video oozes quality.
You should Cory do a series animated map of the vong war
James Somerton would land a good gig at Kuat
Didn’t Kuat also design and produce the Valor class?

Sinear fleet systems?
So they swapped from supporting one faction back to all buyers. Kuat that is
