      I've hit a stride on gaining subs and figured out what specific videos don't get a lot of views and thus the niche that is working. But I've yet to figure out why a video on what I carry for portable low power ham radio is meandering (that i thought would do great) and another reviewing a battery charger has better reach (and I thought wouldn't do well). All info to use.

      Yup, agreed, but still, a lot of small channels blamed the algorithm for not suggesting their contents, but when I checked the YT studio's analytics, it did suggest my contents to the audience frequently, but just the audience refused to click on it. Maybe because my contents were not interesting or boring. But I'm still learning, though.

    • @bbreak
      @bbreak 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Nah, 99.999% of creators will never grow bc youtube simply doesn't want that. The algorithm will keep ignoring you bc you're small. I'm at over 2.5k subs now through years of very hard work. The algorithm still ignores my content. I've given up.

    • @MysteryGamer001
      @MysteryGamer001 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@bbreak No, don't give up. If the algorithm doesn't like you, it means your audience doesn't like you. If that's the case, then all that means is to try something different. Every video should be better than the last in some way. Congrats on over 2.5k subs!

    • @bbreak
      @bbreak 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @MysteryGamer001 already did. The algorithm no longer works in the interest of the audience, so the good old "replace algorithm with audience " no.lonfer applies. The fact we have well over 2.5K subs is a clear sign of that... We get 200-400 views per video usually, yet 2.5K people loved our content enough to sub. Our AVG (view time) is always very high, clickrate ok up to amazing. We have videos with over 20% clickrate and 70-80% AVD (on long-form!) yet still the algorithm "hated" them. So the audience LOVES our content and there's certainly a million people who would love to see out content. But the algorithm won't let them.

    Biggest mistake I made was taking a hiatus from posting content from late November last year until May; it was necessary to avoid serious burnout - I had too much going on in my personal life and something had to give, but the result was my watch hour count going in the toilet. Trying to get back in the groove hasn't been easy.
    However, I didn't lose any subscribers during that break, and I've gained some more since I've started posting again, so that's something positive, I suppose.

    I used to chase numbers. Now, I simply create what I like. If something picks up steam, i'll double down on it. But after nearly 20 years on this platform across a few channels, I'm no longer in a place where I want to get a psychology degree to make a video. I just want to make what I enjoy. Many of you differ in that goal, but you have to remember what brought you to do this. The love of creating, for the sake of creating. Oddly enough, when I stopped overthinking it, I did better numbers. It's all the same to me, as I detach myself from the end result. If what I create resonates, that's awesome. But if it doesn't, I'm happy to have been true to myself.
    Nothing will burn you out more than turning this into a high pressure job. If all else fails, just do what you love. Money is nice, but if you're constantly burning out and trying to become the next big star, you lose the love and the creative spirit that brought you here. This is simply my opinion. Love ya VidIQ!

Which only made it become a trample over everyone else just to get there platform. People use other people just to get their required numbers now. Having a master's degree in Psychology is a must on YT anymore. They streamlined it for cash savings they were losing money because making money was once pretty fair and easy. Now they have a 500 sub channel in direct competition with Casey Niestate

      @@LOFIart796 I can see where you're coming from. At the end of the day, I think they are just trying to create the best user experience they can. That's admirable.
      I am old school when it comes to content creation. Make what I love sensibly, and try to align that with what's popular. But, I take comfort in the fact that I can create whatever I like.
      Keep the thumbnails and editing good, and once in a while, I'll catch a fish. It's cool, because if I do what I'm enjoying, it's fun no matter what the end result is.

    I totally agree but I think apart from kind of "copying the content" that is the most popular in our niche it is even more important to create the content you enjoy. I saw some ideas that were doing well in other channels but sometimes I didn't feel like repeating the content as I wouldn't feel enthusiastic about the topic of the video (for example). Sometimes I try to "follow a trend" but usually I just do whatever I feel I will enjoy doing. If I only (or mostly) had to follow the popular videos I feel I wouldn't be myself in the videos and maybe I wouldn't continue uploading videos so frequently. Anyway thank you for sharing your insights :)

      I think they’re bloody awful.
      You’ll probably never manage to monetise a shorts channel, and if by some miracle you do, you get paid very little.
      Shorts viewers don’t convert to any long form you might be making either.
      Shorts will get you a LOT of views, but it probably won’t build you a community or get you many subs. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I'm still pretty new, but I will say for my channel - everything I make is purely for what I'm passionate about and who it helps. I know which videos to make that get 2k+ views (high for my niche), and which wind up in the 100-300 view range - but I don't ignore the topic just because it won't get the views. It often takes me several weeks to make a video, but I pay attention to every comment - especially on the lower view count videos that seem to give feedback that I was able to help somebody with motivation.
    It would be cool to monetize, but that's not my goal at this point since I'm just learning how to make decent videos with meaning and purpose.

At first, its the video's impressions that suffers low numbers. If you keep cranking out videos with low CTR and low watch time your entire channel will see less and less impressions. Eventually you feel like your channel is in the hole. No impressions means no clicks because your thumbnails are served to less and less potential viewers who arent clicking them to start with. Watch more amazing videos like this one. follow rob closely. Pause, rewind and watch again. set yourself up for success with click winning thmbnails and killer content that will keep them watching for as long as possible. The algorithm has no way of knowing who to target your videos to if you cover various topics.
      Also, a viewer is gonna be pissed off if they sub to a cooking channel and then you upload a Minecraft vid.
      Or they sub for a gaming, and then you upload a tech vid.
      Trying to cater to loads of people will break your channel. Stick to one topic or niche. And build your community.

    Let me stop your Content creator shaming, YET AGAIN, right there. Because, yet again, I'm going to point out that it doesn't matter What The Hell we do, but if TH-cam POINT BLANK REFUSES TO SHOW IT TO OUR AUDIENCE it does MATTER! Now, until you accept this, nothing else you have to say is anything other than content shaming. Since you seem to forget that some of us have been here for a while, & did the things you said to do already.
    The algorithm is a PROMOTER, nothing else. It's supposed to act like a flyer distributor person. Imagine I'm a butcher. I tell the promoter that I have a sausage I want to advertise. The promoter comes back and tells me my sausage is a flop. Why? Show me what you did. The promoter went around screaming at Vegans that they should eat my sausages. When I complain to someone else in the department... YOU, you don't see an issue with the promoter screaming about my butchers shop to vegans. In fact, you tell me my issue is my packaging, my labelling, that I should perhaps concentrate only on sausages, but that for the promoter to be able to get the vegans to actually eat my product, I need to change the quality of my ingredients.
    Or, and I'm just spit balling here, the promoter could have read my ingredients, and asked MEAT EATERS if they wanted to try my sausages! Because that's what the algorithm was doing last year. You know, with my content you're claiming I was making all the mistakes on, but are still out performing my new content with your 'fixes'. So which is broken, your advice, or the algorithm? Because when it only shows a video about GARLIC to people watching SPANISH TV SHOWS IN SPAIN, I'm not sure what the hell I can do to fix their issue. Right now they've spent over FOUR HOURS showing my latest video to practically NO-ONE. It's had 87 impressions in FOUR HOURS from a potential of MILLIONS IN MY NICHE. Stop telling us we're the problem!

      Before I start I want to state that I mean absolutely no offense BUT you are most definitely wrong! I just had a quick look at your most recent videos and can see immediately that the reason why youtube isn't pushing your reach is because your click through rate is too low.. your titles and thumbnails are nowhere near good enough to compete for youtube promotion. Also, you have thousands of subscriber's and they are choosing not to watch your content.I haven't watched your videos but can if you want me to and I'll give you honest feedback.
      I am no Mr Beast but with zero experience in content creation ive managed to get a channel running with bare minimum uploads thanks ONLY to Vid IQs guidance..
      You want to compete on youtube you gotta be competitive!!

      @@nieubarmy Oh do stop with the VidIQ trope trotting. I've been doing SEO for DECADES! My titles and description state EXACTLY what they need to. I'm a gardener, my thumbnails don't have to have a fail gurning face in them to attract people. In fact, that nonsense is the very thing that stops me taking a channel seriously. Also, you have ZERO clue what my analytics are. You'd have also compared how my old videos got thousands of views, IN MY NICHE. It seems to escape your attention that a video won't get a CTR if it's not placed correctly for crying out loud. If my search term is GARLIC, it's not rocket science where the video needs placing, so again, why in the living hell would YT ONLY PLACE IT IN FRONT OF SPANISH PEOPLE WATCHING SPANISH TV SHOWS!. That has nothing to do with anything I did. Now, do stop pretending you know more than I do about what TH-cam is actually doing with my content, because unless you're VIEWING MY ANALYTICS, you know NOTHING!

    Hey vidIQ, i have a question
    Right now there is a conflict between my content ideas, the one side is the content that i want to be known and watched for which is pretty hard to get views on and then there is another type of content that is not something i would love to be known for, but it gets views pretty easily and to be honest i enjoyed making this new type of video too... but now i am confused which content should i post (both are the part of my niche) i don't have any problem in uploading this new type of content which is getting views but its just that when i hit a million i dont want to continue doing it and at that time i will be taking a risk of losing my audience that i gained with this type of videos when i go back to the content that i want to be known for and want to thrive in. (just so you know this video idea that is WORKING for me are Video Essays, i just made one on minecraft telling why it is actually a scary game and it got more than 1k views which is above average for me, and the the content which i want to be known for are the videos of me trying different games and having that fun commentary aspect in them) PLEASE HELP ME!

    I learned you can never predict what will be a hit with audiences.
    I've heard content creators complain about following a formula but not get many views, but my most popular videos were of a washing machine washing clothing, and me opening kinder eggs. Surprised me, let me tell you. 😂
    Apparently, the washing machine and dryer videos were a huge hit with the under 9 months old crowd. I don't make videos for views. I mainly make videos I'd like to watch but can't find.
    Thanks for sharing your advice and wisdom. 👍
