Oh, did I just Cry when hearing Eva Cassidy sing "Tears In Heaven" for the 1st time! She's the Best There Ever Was & I Sure Hope She's Smiling Now! I Love You, Eva! ❤
Holy crap! Where in the world did this video come from?!? I’ve watched practically every piece of video Eva has been in multiple times and I did not know this footage existed! I first started watching and thought…no way is this Eva. I’m stunned and extremely happy to see this.
This audience are a bunch of morons... blabbing away talking over these 2 angels singing such a beautiful song with such skill and heart. Wow. I would have loved to witnessed this performance.💖💖
Absolutely beautiful! How can people be so stupid as to keep yapping during this wonderful performance of such talent? “We went to dinner and all we could her was these two chicks singing their hearts out. I could hardly discuss my worthless problems with my worthless family”
I was thinking the same thing. If people only knew the greatness that was right in front of them and how early in life Eva would be taken........I'd like to think they might've been more respectful. But then again, likely not.
Two wonderful talents blended perfectly. I have loved Eva's singing and how she shaped a song from the first time I heard her on Radio New Zealand some years ago. RIP Eva. Mary Ann I have only just heard your great voice. Im going to look you up on you tube now. Imagine if we could hear you two with Alison Kraus -wouldn't that be amazing
I cannot BELIEVE people are still talking...I would have been mesmerized...greetings from South Africa, where my country is in a state of emergency...your singing brought me calmness. (14 Jul 2021)
from videos i've seen americans can be the rudest audiences. and there have been comments under anita baker's live performances, for instance, about how the audience is just sitting there and what's up with that?
Hallo Mary Ann!! Wow!!!! You sung with the great EVA CASSIDY! For me she was one of the greatest singer of all time! It's really sad she died one year later!!! And you also a great singer!!! Thanx for posting this wonderful piece of music! Wish you a great 2021 with a lot of love and peace (and music) I send you the best regards from BREMEN, GERMANY!
If this doesn't bring tears to your eyes you are not human! What an honor to be able to sing with the great Eva Cassidy, no doubt one of the greatest vocalists ever. You both harmonized exceptionally well here. Chills, what a moving song and performance. Thank you for sharing! Rest in peace Eva Cassidy; there are no tears in Heaven 🌠
I love this version! Beautiful harmonies. How awesome to have performed with Eva Cassidy. I am honoured that you commented on one of my modest video clips!! You guys are so fantastic together - so much soul in your vocals.
Wow! I am a singer, so touched and admire amazing singers, musicians, true talent! You just sing, despite the "noise". Such harmony, angel voices! Would have just been so delighted to have been there! Eva, your in heaven now, in Angel's choir! You left us way too young!!!!
No words, sublime. Mary Ann Redmond, the first time I saw/heard you sing was when you performed at the restaurant I was employed at as head server. (Giovanni's Lake Ridge 30+ years ago). You were in the loft during Sunday brunch basically providing "background" music. No one up there, just your keys and voice. Then you launched in to Phyllis Hyman (Living All Alone) and I almost dropped my tray...
What a treat this would’ve been!Such a disrespectful ignorant audience with its mindless chattering in background..they weren’t aware they were in the presence of greatness n rare talent. As a singer so appreciate these harmonies n blend of voices…melts my heart!
and all of the loud open coughing too. when my mom sang in a band, many years ago, it was the same way as some places are more like bars and they cough and chatter and drink. its not like an official concert where you paid money to listen. maybe thats the difference.
WHY are people in that club talking during this performance??!! SHUT UP!!! If I was in that audience, at the first word I heard out the mouths of these two amazing ladies my hand would have went up in the face of whoever was talking about whatever trivial insignificance. "Oh you figured out how to finally achieve world peace? That's amazing, but NOT NOW! The world has been fighting for centuries. It can wait 5 more minutes."
Their voices blended together perfectly, and I can sense the mutual admiration between these two great singers. I'm sure they influenced each other with their singing styles over time. You can tell in this video, Eva loved singing harmony. Hugh, her Dad, said when Eva was young, she would always gravitate to the harmony during their family sing-alongs and performances. Chris Biondo, her recording producer and bass player said, she always nailed three & four part harmonies on the first take of a recording session. Later, when Eva was gaining traction in the D.C. music scene, in an interview, Eva said her favorite thing to do in the studio was to create choir harmonies. No doubt, this is rare video footage. It's one of two videos that I know of with Eva singing harmonizing/lead vocals with someone else. Usually, when we hear Eva sing harmony, she's singing the backup tracks that matches her lead vocal track. Here's the other video link to more Eva Cassidy perfection: th-cam.com/video/k1BBBUHQEpA/w-d-xo.html Thanks so much for posting!!!
Thank you Mary Ann, for commenting on my video. You are amazingly talented and it was a delight watching this video of you with the great Eva Cassidy. Looking forward for more. Take care, David.
Would it be possible to edit the video and remove all the background noise and clatter so the music comes through pure and unadulterated? Even if doing so is costly, it would be worthwhile… You might even be able to sell the revised soundtrack to her record label… Thank you for recording this, it’s awesome despite my comments above… you clearly understood the value of this performance while you were there, unlike so many others in the audience.
Eva was excited about singing with Mary Ann however, seemed like Mary Ann was taken more by admiring and singing with Eva. Total respect. Also, how the heck can people be so noisy and rude when such an awesome performance is happening? As a local musician, I will not play in a restaurant setting because of the noise and people in that setting don't care to hear music, they just want to chat.
Mary Ann is more of an alto and Eva more of a soprano which is why their voices blend so beautifully. As a musician, I've been there with the people talking and ignoring the music and yes, shame on them...if they only knew what they were truly missing...and of course now we all miss Eva.
WoW, unbelievable how ppl can be so rude & perfectly clueless! Apparently Mary Anne & Eva sang before a lot of wasted ppl that night. I'm sure those who were attentive to the beautiful voices of these two exceptionally talented ladies wished the proprietor would've thrown the yuppies out. Unfortunately not everybody who goes to a music venue is a music lover. Those that aren't should go elsewhere to party - preferably take their buddies with them & go back to their home or den. Those fool's didn't know & will probably never realize what they missed. Sadly, you could tell from Eva's expression that she was displeased by their rudeness, particularly for Mary Anne, whom I'm sure has experienced the same before as much as she has performed. 🎸 🎼 ❤️ 🎤 🎶 🎸 🎼 ❤️ 🎤 🎶
We forget how unknown Eva was at this time - no record deal, touring a matter of finding gigs where she could. That's why people were talking, it was just a gig at a bar. Though considering the quality of all 3 performers I'm pretty sure they realised by the end this was in no way average and everyone there will now use it as a talking point in dinner party conversations, with the caveat that of course it wasn't THEM talking over.
Lovely, Mary Ann but bc of the audience yapping and the less-than-perfect recording tuning it could have been very special. You performed beautifully and you have good control of your distinctive voice. You have a fan in Chicago.
The world is a colder, dimmer place without Eva in it... 💔🙏💯
Just found this tonight. Heart overload.
Love seeing that snippet of Eva at the beginning
Wonderful Eva Cassidy, thank you for shining your light! Gratitude from Brazil, to wherever you are! ❤❤❤...
Oh, did I just Cry when hearing Eva Cassidy sing "Tears In Heaven" for the 1st time! She's the Best There Ever Was & I Sure Hope She's Smiling Now! I Love You, Eva! ❤
Imagine coming across this video a dozen years after learning about Eva's music! What a find. God bless the videographer of this rare historical gem.
God bless the videographer who captured this.
Holy crap! Where in the world did this video come from?!? I’ve watched practically every piece of video Eva has been in multiple times and I did not know this footage existed! I first started watching and thought…no way is this Eva. I’m stunned and extremely happy to see this.
Clean. Cohesive. Full of life. I love all of this.
Some members of the audience clearly clueless as to what they were (half) listening to; as well as the musicianship in front of them.
My thoughts exactly.
Even had I been in the middle of a conversation, it would have ended the minute I heard these two start to sing.
This audience are a bunch of morons... blabbing away talking over these 2 angels singing such a beautiful song with such skill and heart.
Wow. I would have loved to witnessed this performance.💖💖
So very complimentary to each other's talent. R.I.P. Miss Eva ... So many years later You are Loved by many fans !!!
So beautiful….been playing this on a loop 💜❤💛🖤💚🤍💜❤💛🖤💚🤍
We love and miss you always Eva! Rest easy & fly high you beautiful angel!
Absolutely beautiful!
How can people be so stupid as to keep yapping during this wonderful performance of such talent?

LOL
I was thinking the same thing. If people only knew the greatness that was right in front of them and how early in life Eva would be taken........I'd like to think they might've been more respectful. But then again, likely not.
Hahaha well Stated.
Two different styles. Both exquisite. Beautifully blended together.
Two wonderful talents blended perfectly. I have loved Eva's singing and how she shaped a song from the first time I heard her on Radio New Zealand some years ago. RIP Eva. Very interesting and astute comment. The moment Eva began, my tears filled my eyes. Eva Cassidy, one of the all time great Female vocalists!
Such a fine performer gone way too soon! Thanks Eva! I have enjoyed your music for years! R.I.P.!❤👏👍👋🏻
There's no one like Eva Cassidy, and sadly never will be. Such a sweet sound... thx!
What a treasure this video is. What an understatement that is.
I'm grateful for TH-cam for giving me this amazing time travel opportunity. Those poor people didn't known they were wittnessing greatness.
You have a beautiful voice. Paired with Eva Cassidy it’s heavenly. I’m glad I saw this
Truly Beautiful, just found this. Love it.
It's 2024 and even with all the bad audio quality this is for me the best version of tears in heaven..thank you🙂
This song always breaks my heart. Beautiful version.
This sounded beautiful Mary Ann. Lovely to listen and watch you two girls together. Take care
Wow. Just... wow. Thank you so much, Mary Ann, for sharing this gift with us. What an awesome way to be introduced to your music.

Love another video of the late great Eva. Wonderful
eva had the magic , few people do .....so special !!

Had Eva's live at Blues Alley album....miss her music....ya'll made a great pair!!
That is where Eva Cassidy is IN HEAVEN.
Outstanding! so beautiful and touchy..I love it! Hands down
Everyone needs to see this video.

Great to view and hear something from Eva . Wish there was more.
Excellent both of you. I love that song. 🙂👍😍
I think my favorite part is the beginning where you realize how amazing even her natural SPEAKING voice was!! Wow!!
WHY are people in that club talking during this performance??!! SHUT UP!!! If I was in that audience, at the first word I heard out the mouths of these two amazing ladies my hand would have went up in the face of whoever was talking about whatever trivial insignificance. The diners had no idea stopping their conversations would be worth it.
Beautiful!
Wonderful music 🎶
Great performance in the wrong venue.
Wowww!!!…amazing!!!
Beautiful to watch & hear.
Beautiful voices 🙏

I would like to smack the audience ... they do not recognize greatness when it's upon their ears! OMG this is so beautiful.
Beautiful.
So Good!!!
What a lovely voice! This song is one of my favorite! Thank you for share!
So wonderful 💖
Amazing!
Just goes to show how greatness can be overlooked. Thankfully there is TH-cam
Eva Cassidy: não há lágrimas no céu ❤🩹.
Obrigada por ter permitido que a gente te ouvisse cantar.

Salam Kenal Teman,
Waw, waw. Excellent.
Very Smart in Managing Vocals.
Cool music and sound.
Success Always.♥️👍🙏🏻

I would have loved to be there to see you both in person… Sadly Eva was gone before I knew she existed.
I can see you can hold your own 😎❤️👍
Thanks for commenting on my lyrics video. What can be said about you is that your voice is still beautiful..❤️
Beautifull

Tears in haeven. R.I.P. Eva
Beautiful Hormony❤️🎼🌈🌈🌈
Too much perfection.
SUPER

HOW IN THE WORLD DOES THIS ONLY HAVE 5k views?!?! How could you possibly make a rare Eva performance better? Add Mary Ann Redmond!
This audience must feel assish for not fully engaging in this exquisite and poignant performance.. 😢
Nice.
Lovely, Mary Ann but bc of the audience yapping and the less-than-perfect recording tuning it could have been very special. You performed beautifully and you have good control of your distinctive voice. You have a fan in Chicago.
