As an 83-year-old man, it makes me smile to see you three enjoy a classic tune we once listened to on the radio. What a great piece of music that never grows old!
Yes it does not,
Am stealing the fun from your youth 😂💕
67
At 63, me too. I love this song.
71, I grew up with them. They just don't do this kind of stuff any more...
60 here, this song .... Was always a favorite 🥰🥰
Procal Harum and the Moody Blues were the masters of integrating an orchestra into their progressive rock. They both stand out. RIP GARY You made your indelible mark.
Crazy about the Moody Blues.❤❤❤
YES the Moody Blues!!! I still own everything that they released on vinyl.
I was fortunate to work with Gary on, EVITA. He sang the verses that never made the record to Alan Parker and myself on set-accapello. Just an amazing memory I have cherished.
I totally agree.
My most favorite song of the time period
I'm so blessed to be a boomer
Our music was phenomenal
I enjoy seeing young people react to this song
Bravo
💕💕
Thank you
It’s a great song
Yes, boomer power✊
Oooh. Another good one is Crystal Blue Persuasion. But that's not melancholy like this one.
This one makes me sad and happy.
Boomer here. We had some of the best music. I remember dancing to this song . Brings back a lot of memories.
@@Glow_ree _Beautiful smiles!_
Beautiful. My generation had the best music period!
RIP Gary Booker, Procol Harum.
💕💕
Proud to be boomer. THIS is what we listened to in high school! Loved it then love it now.
I like how you guys respect the work without constantly stopping it like some reactors do. It moves me to watch it move you!,,
Hey peeps, I am a retired professional guitarist and master jeweler. BJ Wilson, or Barry Wilson, the drummer of Procol Harum was a dear friend of mine. We played music 🎶 together and he's passed but.. I found you and you are obviously here for me too. Thanks. I'll support as I am able. Great choice of songs. 🎸😁🎶
Wow. That's incredible..I bet you have some interesting stories!..BJ Wilson..the greatest drummer no one has ever heard of..
All of your joy and bliss brought me to tears. We don't hear this music with our ears we hear it with our soul.
I was 16. Walking on the cold sand of the Atlantic….sun went down, waves crashing, large waves with mist….I was a lonely teenage boy. This song was my anthem that summer.❤
Every feel
All the feels
I love that music can take us back to a very specific moment in time..including emotions/feelings we had at that very moment. I'm sure you've heard it hundreds of times and probably think back to that moment every time. 💕
I was a teenager when that song climbed the charts way back in the 1960’s, I’m in my 70`s now, but I’ll never forget that song, ever! It still brings tears to my eyes, whenever I hear it, and why still puzzles me!
If you were 70 years old, it would be a different kind of understanding of this music, but it is great fun to watch you enjoy it 57 years later.
I'm 56, & may still be a bit unclear with understanding. Someone at some point many years ago said it has to do with the Vietnam War, which doesn't answer a question, but opened me up with more questions. I want to know 'exactly' what about it has to do with it. (I mean...I feel in some ways, that war destroyed my whole life, & my mom's, when she told me how he came back 'different,' & they got divorced when I wasn't even quite 3 years old. It took away so many opportunities to grow up normal, & know what it would've been like to live with both parents, if that war didn't screw him up. The day he left me behind, I felt like he died. I was just a baby, & had to go through very adult situations before my time.) I haven't even grasped each & every lyric yet, but if her face went ghostly, whiter shade of pale, all I think of is someone died, or is about to die, due to serious info, or, something....I'm going to go find the lyrics.....
You are so right. I am 77 and it just brings back the time I first heard in 1967 when I was 20 years old. Gary Brooker's vocals are just as great as they were back then.
@@Dark_Harmony I am sorry, empathetic, sympathetic and sad for you and your family and how it affected everything. My brother was a combat medic in Vietnam, saw, experienced, was in way too much death. I would suppose any infantry soldier, in combat would. They used to call it shell shock, then PTSD, and now something else. My brother has it still, had dealt with it in counseling, meetings, group activities, et cetera. They have never had many good ways to deal with the trauma, but every year the do better. I was number one in the lottery, wasn’t sure of what I would do, we have relatives in Canada, but I probably wouldn’t have moved there. We had people in WWI, WWII, on both sides of our family, 3 maternal uncle’s, 4 paternal uncle’s in the war. My oldest brother was in the Navy in the 50’s and 60’s. Working on an oiler servicing ships, saw the blast from the bomb testing, even with the eye protection and eyes closed. I’m glad I didn’t have to make the decision to go to war. I hope you were able to have a decent relationship with your dad, that you had some counseling, and have taken care of yourself. War has never been elegant, easy, and really good for people. This kind of trauma is damaging to soldiers first, families next, and continues to trouble veterans and people like you and I, families, friends, and maybe everyone. I commiserate with you and wish you the best.
the absolutely most beautiful version of this song. I have watched it countless times and am always fascinated and close to tears. R.I.P. Gary
I have as well... a masterpiece
💕💕
Ty! And I've have shed tears several times
I am 65 jear old male and cry at this song.🙏
Me too. At least 50 times. Always amazes me.
I love to see young people enjoy real good music....timeless songs made with real voices and real instruments.....
💕💕
Yes that took actual talent to play the instruments and to sing. Then it was about the music not the show!
One of the few benefits of being old (75 y.o.) we enjoyed some of the best music on earth and this song is one of them. My husband died three months ago, and I played this song, this version, in his last weeks on earth. It's so very special and I miss him more than words can say. Parkinson's is a cruel disease.
I'm soo sorry for your loss
This song is absolutely soul penetrating.
Yes it is ❤❤
One of the best songs ever written and performed. I grew up in the 70's and still do listen to mostly 70's music.
We didn't know how good we had it!
I'm so glad the song moved you the way it did. It really is an epic tune, and he belts it out as well as he did in 1967. 😊❤️
I think he might actually have sung it better there than he did in 1967 :)
❤❤
@@coruna2i agree!🙏
This version is better than the original, and the original was fantastic!
BI agree, maybe even better ❤😅
Exquisitely arranged, beautifully sung and one of the most moving pieces of music of the 20th century. Thank you Procol Harum, RIP Gary Booker. You outdid yourself with this production.
I was fortunate enough to have worked with Gary on, EVITA. Great guy. Amazing voice.
He sang the extra verses that didn't make the record to Alan Parker and myself. A great memory. And one that I will never forget. Thank you, Gary Booker.
I cry everytime I hear this version, it's heavenly
Yes it is 💕💕
Pure beauty often brings humans to tears.
Im 57 and heard this song many many times, but this version gives me goosebumps every single time... beautiful
Sometimes I just play this in repetition. One of the all time greatest. Rest in Peace Gary Brooker.
The most hauntingly beautiful, ethereal song. RIP Gary Brooker for giving us this timeless masterpiece. May you now and forever sing with the angels. ♥️
It so wonderful to see these young folks enjoying a song that means so much to all of us who grew up with real music 😂
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE that he sang this song as it was ORIGINALLY Made back when he sang it. I Do Not understand WHY ARTISTS Change the songs when they sing it later. Dont they realize we loved it how it was originally sang DONT CHANGE IT.
Sometimes their voices change as they age. At 60 I can say that there are many things that I can no longer do that I could once do with ease. At 16 I could hand stack refrigerators. No I have trouble moving them.
The same is true of voices.
One of the most beutiful pieces of music ever written 🇬🇧😊
I agree 💕
Air on a "G" string... This is an interpretation of a piece of classical music. By Bach.
I first heard this song in 1967 on the radio I was 6 years old beautiful love the reaction ❤❤❤❤❤.
💕💕💕
The orchestra adds so much to this performance. His voice is perfect.
Regardless of class, regardless of race, regardless of wealth, when music touches our souls, we are truly ONE.. Besides Himself, music is truly one of God's most awesome gift to us, his children.. Thank you, for your reaction my friends. I wish you much peace and many blessings.. ♥️✌️
Amen!!!
Saw him in 1967 in San Francisco. We were all so young. The other band playing was The Doors. The concert was magical.
Wow💕💕
Such experience
Sounds magical
Love young ones listening to THE BEST TALENTED MUSICIANS EVER
RIP Gary. Your beautiful voice will live on forever ❤❤❤
Gary Brooker was a true artist. Even at his age in this recording, he was simply awesome. RIP Gary and thanks for making the world better.
💕💕
Yes yes I love that song.I remember that growing up.
I can listen to this song 1000 times, and it still brings me to tears from its beauty.
There are songs that just do that, no matter how many times I hear them.
-The Greatest Discovery - Elton John
-You've Got a Friend - James Taylor
-True Colors - Cyndi Lauper
-Why Should I Cry for You? - Sting
-One More Arrow - Elton John (this one is tough. It was written by lyricist Bernie Taupin when his father passed away, and I unexpectedly lost my mom this past December. Hits hard.)
The music of my youth! Never get tired of this! I am young again! Beautiful song.
Always makes me cry... probably missing the teenager I was hearing this in '67
Almost makes me feel 13 again....... That was just a while ago.
We had absolutely EPIC music, just the finest both lyrically and musically. So thrilled to see younger folks appreciating it! ❤
The most beautiful rock song ever written.
The very first rock band to incorporate the beauty of the symphony. This is one my favorite band on earth. Oh yeah just in case you didn't know. The phrase " SKIP the night Fandango " is inviting a date to go dancing. The tune was made in 1966. LOVE you guys FOREVER. Enjoy
I've lost count how many reactions to this brilliant video I've seen, but yours is probably the best I've seen. No stopping, no constant irritating interruptions, just pure respect and love for everything you was witnessing ❤❤❤, but then again, I've never seen anything but love and respect for all your reactions and lots of laughter 😂, thank you so much, take care, Tony here in the UK 🇬🇧 ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ten Years After / Procol Harum was the first concert my girl and I Attended. We're 70 now and will be married for 50 yrs. this year. What great music we've lived though.
OMG this is so sweet 🌸
I'm 62 years old, so this is part of the soundtrack of my youth. Watching you all feel it the way that you did really touched my heart.❤
His voice never changed. I was a teenager when this song came out. Such a powerful song on all levels. Thanks for celebrating the music.❤
It’s a great song
Thank you.
The perfect marriage of piano and organ, backed by an amazing Orchestra. Not to mention the Hammond Organ, giving us the greatest organ riff in Rock and Roll history. {IMAO, of course} Every time I hear this version, I am filled with awe.
had my first slow dance to this song in 1967 in some teeny sunday afternoon disco event in germany.
I am 72 now :)
that man's voice was so amazing after all these years. I love that song and it brings back such great times and memories! It's a musical treasure!
Absolutely beautiful piece of music; a bit of Heaven here on earth. RIP Gary Brooker. Thank you for this extraordinary piece.
Glad you enjoyed it
All three are wonderful And I also felt the same as the young man said. These songs free us from the sometimes hard times of life. All three are great. A big hug from the Canary Islands
I'm 57 n still tear up hearing this song wherever I'm at. It hits my heart
Phenomenal Song, Phenomenal performance!
Keep listening to the legends .. young beautiful people.
This is the only reaction. Such perfection.
It's been a minute since I have listened to that song. Thanks for reminding me of how good it can sooth one's soul. From melancholy to peacefully mellow. The original is really good too.
My high school girlfriend and I danced to this song at a school dance in 1967. 😊
Wow😂💕💕
We know u will never forget that night .. 🥰😘
Lovely memories. Do you ever wonder what happened to the girls we loved and lost at that age
Did you marry her?
@@vanmanmike No. she went out of state for college. I went to college in Chicago. Met a girl in college and we married in 1973
The Best Version of THE best song ever.
I agree 💕
Yet another great british band.... I loved this & remembering it first time around ! 😉🇬🇧
I’m now72yrs old,,, that song was popular when I was in high school and I remember slow dancing with my girlfriend back then!!!
I really enjoyed watching you 3 getting into a great song and appreciating it just my generation did back in the ‘60’s!!!
Seeing your faces took me back to those days of fond memories that I miss so much!!! 🥰
I first heard the song back in the late 60s and it gave me goosebumps, never heard anything like it, you know? I'm 73 now, and it still gives me chills, I like it that much. Thanks for the memories...
By far the most beautiful piece of artistry ever.
This song was number 57 on Rolling Stone magazines top greatest 500 rock songs of all time. Great job.
💕💕
I'm 68, and I guess I was about 10 when the original came out..His vocal chops were as amazing here, as they were then, all those years ago.
Me too.
I’m 61 years old. To this day, I consider this my favorite song of all time.
Beautiful song, almost brings tears to my eyes and you three are beautiful
This song is like the hug of your mother
Exactly ❤❤
Great music. The universal way of joining together and enjoying something as one.
Couldn't agree more!💕💕
I can’t listen to this without it bringing me to tears. It’s just beyond words.
I’m 34 and I cry everytime I hear this song. Reminds me of my childhood in the 90’s growing up with my older parents who are Woodstock-Vietnam parents.
I have that same feeling but it goes further back than that. I grew up with Big Band music in the house, and when I get that "I still miss you" feeling I listen to Glenn Miller's Moonlight Serenade. They lived through the Depression and WWII.
It is a divinity And a beauty never created. Blessed be you forever procol harum
Wow I feel so blessed to have had all these fantastic groups when I was younger. I stopped dead in my tracks when I heard this for the first time.
1967 -- I was 23, living in New York City. I loved this song then and still do!
Your reaction is so beautiful ❤❤❤ For the younger generation to experience, appreciate, and enjoy our music is an unbreakable bond ❤.
Binding Us All Together.
Our generation had the best music of all times.!!!❤
Thank you so much!!
Hey bro, don´t hide your tears away. Good music is pure emotion
You are BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE! Gary Brooker will live forever.💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓🙏
I’m so pleased to see modern people enjoying this classic. I’m English, and of a certain age . This was huge and stayed popular for years and years . As a young woman I always remember this being played as the last song of the night in clubs and at parties . It was the one you slow danced to . I absolutely live Procol Harum , and all the other similar iconic British bands of this era . We were blessed ❤
💕💕
I'm 68, 60's and 70's were the best times for good real Rock, Motown and Jazz/blues.
I have over 8000 songs by around two hundred bands and solo singers that I never get tired of.
Yes that includes Procol Harum.
Seen the group play in a small venue so many years ago. Walking down a street a small club with poster up they were playing at. 5 dollars to get through the door. That tells u how long ago it was. It was one of the best musical groups I ever came across
💕💕
Absolutely beautiful song and arrangement. Great vocals by Gary. This band was one of my favorites in high school 1972 - 74. That song is just wonderful with an orchestra. I also loved their album, Live with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. I really enjoyed how the three of you felt it, especially the ladies. That's exactly how I feel about it. It stirs my soul. I'm glad I just happened to find this video.
This is a masterpiece. Gary's voice is sublime. Great reaction... but the girl on the left in light blue stole my soul!
I just love seeing young people being so moved by the music I grew up listening to! Thank you for doing this. ❤
Just as pretty as it was when I heard it 50 years ago.
PROCOL HARUM "WHITER SHADE OF PALE" This live version is absolutely beautiful. BUT It covers up what made this song so iconic. There was no orchestra or choir. What made this song was the haunting sound of the organ. I rate this as a "Studio 1st then live." ...Boy meets girl. Girl leaves boy. "trip the lights Fandango" ...Fandango is the seductive dance with castanets.
Boy meets girl. Boy gets girl pregnant. Father of girl kills boy.
Yes the orchestra is overshadowing the poignancy of the song. Give me the studio version any day. The organ, vocal, drum fills...
I get chill bumps every time I watch this video.
Ahhh yes, back when music was beautiful and moved you. Beautiful. I miss it.
❤😢❤never fails to hit the emotions hard when I listen to the great Gary Brooker and his beautiful enterage of performers in this terrific setting! What's not to love!!
Feel lucky to have lived this absolute treasure trove of songs from our youth!! 🎉🎶🎉
💕💕
This is the ultimate live performance of one of the greatest songs ever. Whiter Shade of Pale has been in my top 10 songs ever since I first heard it as a young boy in the late 1960s. With the orchestra accompanying the band, you get the best live performance I’ve ever witnessed.
Your responses were spot on. Like a lot of music from the 60s and early 70s, it makes you feel something emotional.
I got to grow up in the greatest era of music. It was a large part of what made us Baby Boomers what we are. It’s great to see younger generations discovering this period in musical history.
Keep digging folks, you’ll never be disappointed.
Thank you!
Hard to think that Gary was in his 70’s when he sang this song but god bless you Gary and RIP and thanks for the music.
You are welcome
Happy you live it 💕
Always loved this song. Around the mid 80's I was "tasked" to pick up our daughter at a school dance. The dance was not yet over, so I decided to walk in. I got to the door of the darkened gym and the DJ had just announced that "this will be the last song for the evening." A Whiter Shade of Pale starts to play... I stayed hidden along the wall and watched our daughter and her boyfriend do a slow dance together. It didn't matter to me if they, or any other young people in the gym, knew the song or not. I knew it, and watching our "little" girl grow up is all that matters.
As a side note, I think I broke her heart when I first told her that Tiffany's "I Think We're Alone Now" was also from the 60's. "Noooo that can't be true...!"
Awwhh 🥰
You guys are awesome, thanks for sharing and spreading the Joy of music…..waving from the Laurentians 🇨🇦 ☮️🫶🏽 & Light to all reading this 🙏🏽
I loved it at 18 when he first did the original in 1967. I still love it and I m now 75. Gary Brooker passed a few years ago but this is a famous song that so many people love. Was nice to see you all enjoy it as much as we all did the first time too.
Rock on!
What a fabulous classic song! It is beautiful ❤ Love it...
Classic indeed!. The tune is by none other than Bach himself.
So wonderful to see your beautiful spirits soaring with the music 🎶 🎵 🎶
Thank you so much!
I loved watching all three of you totally be transported by this song. You are correct....whenever I am feeling down, stressed or overwhelmed, I turn on this performance. In just a few minutes, I feel so much better.
Love y'alls reaction to this timeless classic. I was just 10 yrs old when this song came out in '67 and it means more and more to me everytime I hear it. ❤🧡💛💚
I remember loving this song when very young 60 yrs ago.
Great reaction when I was 18 years old I had the privilege of seeing these guys three or four times in the same year in Detroit they were fantastic no one sounded like them they make you cry just like they did you
I'm 70 years old now
Yes raise your hands I do it's spiritual
Wow what a privilege 💕💕
Wow
Good old age 💕💕
It is thrilling to see new generations discovering and loving this wonderful music. It is sad that music has been partitioned by radio into strict genres. In the 60s 70s, and 80s, FM radio stations played every type of music. If it was good, it was played. Procol Harum would be followed by the Blues Project, a bit of Bach, jazz, metal, folk, a bit of Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Motown and Stax recordings, etc. Boundaries were shattered. When a nee album came out, the station would play the entire record. It was an education which brought people together in ways that have disappeared. It was a privilege to grow up in that era.
This melody always makes me cry. Good to see new young people exploring old classic songs👍 69 here.
The original version was done with the Edmonton symphony orchestra,This version may also be the ESO ,They are absolutely fantastic. You should see them do “ Conquistador “1971 Fantastic!Watch it .The album cover was drawn by our Phil Hartman!( the horse ) He drew that!
I saw them in concert in San Francisco in the 1970s!!! So amazing… ❤️🎶❤️
As a child of 10 yrs old l lived in Germany and my family would go to the NCO Club and this song would play on the juke box l loved it so much and at the young age of 10 in 1968 l couldn't wait to hear it.
Simply the greatest rock song!
Beautiful song Beautiful reaction. PEACE.
