I like how you show the difference then pause to let us know what your doing towards the end of the video… I have a gh5 and needed to learn color grading… I would like later your explanation on how you color grade the music is great but I’d like you to explain when you have time…keep up the great work.

I still like more body colors from gh5. Checked few days ago dynamic range of different cameras. Slope base dr (Medium 0.5) gh5- 10.5; gh7-11,9•12.1, S5iix-11.9•12.3. Means almost identical with full frame lumix which is fantastic for a m 4/3

@@kenslyder exactly, the info ⬆️from his videos ! Also if to check Sony a7s3 and canon c70 ( Gerald Undone tests) at dr0.5 showing 13 stops. Not bad just 1 stop less for gh7 compare to those top full frame cameras. As I was thinking about S5iix as next camera to get, because of the full frame, but the dynamic range is identical with gh7, so ….
@user-tj8ox8iy8m We were talking about the test by Gerald Undone and dynamic range test which he did on his Chanel, go to check it out, the dynamic range, he tested, for c70 , at slope base dr0.5 was 13 stops. And it’s a perfect camera definitely.
@user-tj8ox8iy8m Gerald Undone Chanel and his test of dynamic range check out for c 70, you will see what I say. Slope base dr 0.5 showed 13 stops. I care about the quality and price, canon was in my list, but I chose lumix by the specs and price when bought it.
@@StanTregubenko I’m used to M43 system and when the S5ii came out I thought I have to switch system because of the new autofocus and full frame.. But the rolling shutter really didn’t look good at all for me. So I started this TH-cam channel with my old GH5 and did my first video on youtube where I say “gears doesn’t matter. It’s the end result that matters” 😅 then the G9ii came out and I did a short film on the GH5 why I thought to skip the G9ii as well. But the G9ii almost got me! Now that the GH7 came out I thought: “This is the camera worth for un upgrade and that will last me for a long long time”! And I will use the GH5 as a B cam.. Now for me this is great because I can now use all my M43 lenses with both cameras. 3 lenses that I think every M43 users should have are from Sigma 😍 It’s the 16mm the 30mm and the 56mm 1.4! But make sure you buy the M43 version! Great low light performance, superb autofocus paired with the GH7 and you get a beautiful background blur, very creamy and the image very sharp even at 1.4! Nice build quality and weather sealed. Only the 30mm is not weather sealed. I don’t know why🤔
This is the crucial test! Thanks Ken! The dynamic range of GH7 is probably two stops more comparing to Gh5, isn't? TIme to upgrade to GH7! :) :)
@@cinema-coexistence Thanks ☺️ The GH5 v-Log L of the GH5 has 12 stops of dynamic range compared to the 13+ stops of the GH7. It’s very good for a M43! Can compete with some Full frame cameras
Very good work KEN 😉There is no doubt that the dynamic range of GH7 is wider. Personally, I seem to feel that the transition between highlights and shadow parts of GH5 are more cinematic. I would like to ask if the color style and exposure parameters used in these two video shootings are the same.
@@hindberjum hey 👋😃 yes the conditions were exactly the same even the GH5 “looks” like under exposed compared to the GH7. I exposed both cameras with the white shirt and the zebras in the camera. The highlights of the GH5 just clipped sooner than the highlights on the GH7. We have a little more information in the highlights of the GH7 to play. If I would expose the GH5 like the GH7 the highlights on the GH5 would clip. So it’s true… With 13+ stops the GH7 has a better dynamic range compared to the GH5 with 12 stops when shooting in v log :)

G9 owner here. I just think the GH7 looks so much better and very close to full frame now. There is a luminance pop or something which looks far more appealing. MHO.

@@HumbleProduction Thanks! I think CPL filters are great to get out reflections from surfaces. So you can use it if you want or need. It depends what you want to film.

Thanks for this! The GH5 still rox in 2024 and is an amazing value but the GH7 hands down wins this competition. I do still like the look and feel of the GH5 for some film applications though. The softness also creates such a stylistic look that can be needed with some projects. Happy to see the GH7 look so good. I would love to see an S5 II comparison or something like that with full frame Panasonic. I have a gh5 but am also considering the S5 II.
@@teddyb4168 thanks and I agree with you! Unfortunately I don’t own a S5ii to test this out. I skipped the S5ii because I wanted to stick with M43 because I’m used to the system and I have a bunch of lenses as well.

I am curious how the GH7 internal Prores Raw with highlights recovery stand up to GH5 or S5ii with h264/5 codecs.
@@ryszardzokowski812 I don’t know if there will be a difference because the dynamic range is still 13+ stops. I don’t know yet but I will test it out more in the future for sure 👍

@@JeanSebastienLEGER I will get it soon.. But I’m planning to do more test before that. Like low light tests and autofocus. But the Arri Log C3 Is something I really want to try and deep dive into it

@@ShangauBisht yes you can download the Lumix Lab app! There are many luts you can download, install it to your computer and color grade with it! :) You don’t need necessarily a new camera for that.. Maybe I’m going to do a video soon about it for the GH5
Tbh this doesn’t seem like a very good test. The gh5 is underexposed compared to the gh7 the highlights and everything are darker on the gh5.
@@quicktechtips42069 I can’t expose the GH5 like the GH7. The highlights on the GH5 clips sooner. I know that the GH5 looks underexposed but believe me when I say; if I wouldn’t expose the GH5 like that, the highlights would clip! Even if you see in the waveform of the GH5 that they are lower as on the GH7 .It’s because it’s V-Log L and not V-Log. I used the Zebras in both cameras and I exposed for the highlights of the shirt. Of course I can’t expose the GH5 equal to the GH7. The GH5 has only 12 stops of dynamic range vs the 13+ stops of the GH7.. My test’s is accurate. Otherwise I wouldn’t post it 😉 cheers
The GH5 looks better even though it’s slightly darker.
