    Great review and appreciated your comments. I’d disagree a bit (not surprising as ceo ) with your comment on our strategy and whether it’s consistent for Traeger to launch a flat top grill.
    Our goal has always been to create memorable home cooking moments by offering a a better product experience than what’s on the market. We believe our wood pellet grill soliton has done that incredibly well by delivering better flavor, more versatility, increased ease and greater consistency. Our mission has never been about propane, even though we definitively believe we do this better than propane grills that out an artificial flame on your food. (Admittedly we’ve enjoyed some humor at the expense of propane, more for fun than anything).
    Our objective in launching a flat top was to offer a perfect complement to our core wood pellet grill solution, which will continue to be at the center of our universe. In the case of Flatrock, the propane is not the flavor, but simply the fuel to heat the appliance. And together we believe these products allow for an epic home cooking experience.
    Please feel free to reach out if you’d like to hop on a call to discuss further. And thanks again for taking the time to review Flatrock and for your honest comments! All my best, Jeremy

      Hi Jeremy. Trevor Andruss here (same last name ha). We would love to be a better partner with you guys, not sure if thats through an ambassador/influencer program you offer? Or through our retail store. I have been just buying these products at the local retail stores, as they are getting them faster. I would love to continue the discussion further.

      Jeremy, please explain the reason for the grease trap in the front? We are already getting reports that people are burning their hands over the grease trap where it is currently located.

      @@scottcarroll4825 this grease trap is on the bottom almost middle of the grill where your hand will be much of the time. All I'm asking, which some betta testers are wondering too, if the grease trap is hot above the opening. Also, one beta tester has found that it is in a location that often where food particles can go. But can work around this. I am not a beta tester, but just a longtime TH-cam reader. But I feel that getting multiple opinions from beta testers, is important to help decide that important buying decision. The questions I ask, is for the benefit of the readers and buyers out there.

    Great video, but you missed a couple things. One, it can also use a 9V battery for ignition, you don’t have to plug it in. Two, the plug grants access to the flame sensor and propane scale, great for knowing if your burners are on and how much propane you have left in a 20 lbs tank. Three, you installed the side rails backwards, the curved part should be on the front side, not the back. So far I’ve been very impressed with the Flatrock, way more consistent and reliable than my blackstone ever was!

    Wood pellet makes sense for an open flame cook but for a griddle the fuel for cooking shouldn’t change the taste at all because you’re cooking on cast-iron not on the flame ?

    I buy everything based on reviews. Some said this was hard to put together th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt some guy said 2 hours and 2 beers later. I didn't drink beer like I was going to. I didn't feel like going to the store. I'm assuming I would have had at least 3. I took my time. Stepped outside for a cigarette break a couple times but all in all it was about a 3 hour project for me but it wasn't like it was difficult or anything . Only pictures but everything is pretty organized and labeled although I didn't see any #s on the actual pieces like it shows in the diagrams. Only the screws were labeled. On the cardboard part of the packaging on the back side. I put it together in my living room too. It wasn't supposed to rain today but it's Michigan and I couldn't wait so I put it together in my living room. Without beer but beer would definitely have made it more fun that's for sure. I'm giving this a 5 for easy assembly. I'll update after it stops raining when I can take it out of my living room and cook some food on it. Hope this helps at least for people who think they can't put this together because I did and you can too . And there are extra screws. I got nervous and immediately came here to see if others had the same experience and they have. You're not doing it wrong. There will be extra screws. Be patient. Don't rush it. Drink beer. Happy assembling

    The reason Traeger had to come out with a propane grill, is because many people like me, live in a condominium complex, where you are not allowed to have a wood burning barbecue on your patio. You have to use propane. I will buy this because I can use it in my complex,and it may not taste as good as a wood pellet fired grills, but it’s nice that it’s not cooking by flame. Adjusting the heat is a big plus. No way Traeger could ignore a huge market. Who can’t buy their product if it’s woodfired. You did a really good job on the video.

    I love you passionate opening statement. Backyard cooking has surely changed. I agree with the pricing. I have one of those $400 griddles and the only reason I am not running out to buy a new one is because it's connected to natural gas.

  • @NotAnotherGrill
    @NotAnotherGrill ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Good review but disagree that griddles are "off brand" for Traeger. I think the marketing campaigns against gas are really aimed at traditional gas grills vs. wood pellet and not griddles or even propane as a heat source. Love that they are innovating and expanding their product portfolio in the outdoor cooking space.

    You actually want the front to be a little cooler. I’ve been using a blacksyone for years and it’s makes it more manageable if it’s slightly cooler in the front.

Already have a pellet grill. keep wondering if the 899 cost of the flat rock is worth while. thanks again for the review. FYI the electric is necessary to use the fill indicator for the propane tank.

    LOL, It's a griddle not a smoker, It has to be gas and cooking on a griddle you don't taste the gas like when cooking on a gas grill over direct fire. 🙄 Your rant about their motto is Wacked out.

    Thanks for the review, but seasoning with butter is never a good idea, the smoke point of butter is just way too low., use a veggie or even peanut oil to season. And NEVER, EVER, use bacon or any other kind of animal meat for the first cook on cast iron.
