  • I believe that this is only applicable to the 2012-2016 models. I believe in 2017 they integrated the licence plate lights into the plastic bumper cover. It is probably due to rust, if you watch my video about replacing licence plate light's you can see my bracket is already flaking away due to rust.

Awesome video! Unfortunately, if I did put my keys there, my car would be literally 1 button press away from unlocking every door at once (Keyless entry)

Just search for "faraday bag for key fob" on Amazon or wrap your keys in tin foil or take the battery out of your remote.
      Thanks for watching!

My Mirage has two additional security measures that may thwart potential theft:
    1.) It's a Mirage.
    2.) It's a 5-speed
Jokes aside, neat idea for a hiding place. That white cross section is also good for mounting a rear camera on models prior to when it became standard (at least in the U.S.)
There's so much emtpy space to stash things in this car. It's great.

If you watch my “replacing license plate light video” at 4:04 in the video: th-cam.com/video/0niiWXC2uk8/w-d-xo.html you can see they actually sell a license plate light on eBay that has a camera built in.
      Thank you for watching!

A good spot to put a spare key... not the whole cluster of keys.

I am aware, hopefully they like and subscribe. People including news agencies also share TH-cam videos about how to steal Hyundai Elantra's. I think its best information is made public and that people can be expected to make their own educated decisions about what they do with their property.
The "thieves" are going to be having a field day when I release my TH-cam video on how to install a GPS tracker in the car.
      Thank you for watching!

Nice, my old 91 4Runner had a small gap in the front driver side mud flap I tied some clear fishing line to the key and it slotted right in flush. Can't tell you how many time I've used that spare key. Totally hidden and you wouldn't know it was there unless you were looking for it.

I was in the US Army and every weekday morning we would do Physical Training, an hour of exercises and a group run. We would all hide our car keys somewhere outside the car. This is a great idea, but I would put a large keychain ring on the free end of the floss so you don't lose it inside the hatch too. That would be very bad.

Now everyone who watches this video will know..so therefore it won't be much of a secret

There are significantly more Mitsubishi Mirages in the world than this video has views. Please share the video to help get the word out 😂

Correct, but you don’t yet know where my gps tracker is😂😂 I haven’t yet made that video.

I feel it's no longer a hiding spot.

I doubt this video has enough views for both you and the thief trying to steal your stuff to have watched it.

Also I don’t believe the car will start with the key outside it

The main problem is that there's no self-respecting car thief with a drop of dignity as a professional, a good resume, and a reputation in the field who wants to be seen driving away in a Mitsubishi Mirage or Chevrolet Spark.
