Cikiqou in Chongqing was an interesting place for sure. The food selection was massive, but definitely would rather see more local Chinese vendors rather than Starbucks and other chains 👍
Agreed.Starbucks is just not fit in with a old antique look town.I like enjoy a cup of coffee from Starbucks in the city. But not everywhere plz😂
Lots of street snacks, samples and food, but few over-weight people…. because of lots of walking…..
er-s-er for 22!
you had sunflower seeds with the tea
That sausage lady asked for 10 , her neighbor hand gestured five but twice. She thought that you guys are bargaining, she gave up asking for 10 and literally gave you a 50% discount with a big smile!
You have many fans on Chinese TikTok , Bilibili and KuaiShou。Chinese people really enjoy your videos.
When you eat dumplins or baozi, don't eat the whole thing in one bite, they may be hot. Take a small bite first, blow a couple times to cool it down, then eat the rest of it.
Important
ture!
Yeah and try to suck the juices out through the small bite😂 and then have the whole thing left
When drinking tea with Chinese traditional tea cups, the lid is kept on to keep the tea warm, and it's also used as a 'blocker' from the tea leafs while you sip on it.
You can lift the cup using the bottom 'disk' when drinking if the cup is too hot.
And the most common mistake using chopsticks, is holding it too low. Hold it higher towards the top for more leverage, it will be much easier!
Public holidays r crazy in China.
That smoked sausage is 10 yuan, not 5 yuan. There was a miscommunication between you, and the woman felt embarrassed to ask you for the additional 5 yuan.
Haha, but is not big amount, the shop lady just allow it.😆
Yeah, that's why when Neomi said she wanted to go back and get more. I was like...oh oh! What's the lady is going to charge her then.😂
@@dice138 True 😂
now the lady is forced to learn some english, lol
十=10
❤ Hello, I'm Chinese. I have been watching your videos in China recently and I really like them. Just a friendly reminder, for hot pot dipping, dumplings, noodles, or other foods, if there are seasonings such as chili oil and garlic, they need to be stirred with chopsticks or spoons before eating. Otherwise, some foods may have no taste, and some foods may have atoo strong and spicy taste. The seasoning must be stirred evenly before eating. If you find it too spicy, you can add a little less vinegar to it. I hope you have a great time in China.
Chongqing is truly beautiful, a blend of ancient and modern. Many cities in China have unique cultures and traditions. After staying in China for a while, you will fall in love with the country and be reluctant to leave.
She gestured ten, which is 十 in Chinese, but she let you have it for five.
The neighbor vendor bargained for Naomi😂
26:41 Chinese character for 10 is 十. Fingers cross means ten. Chinese have a unique set of hand gestures to represent numbers. You can search it online.
hey guys ,“la” means spicy in Chinese,“bu la” means not spicy in Chinese, hopefully can help when you guys trying Chinese food next time!BTW,you guys are in the most “crazy about spicy ”district in China。😅
Wonderful vídeo dear friends❤
Thank you 🤗
@@TwoMadExplorers Please invite some stinky tofu into your belly :)
and the tea cup lip is designed that can help you to push away the floating tea leaves. Have a nice trip.
you two are lovely to watch, enjoy staying in wonderful china
Thanks for sharing! By the time both of you reached the other end of the food street, your tummy would be full. 🤣🤣🤣It is Sunflower seeds with black tea.
The Chinese lady is very nice ,she said the food cost 10 chineseYen,such you did not get her means ,she also give you for 5 Chinese yen.Because they know you guys just want to challenge some new things,
.😊
Oh no~~ her shop will close down 😮😅
Chinese Yuan
Japanese Yen.
welcome to chongqing😂 its my hometown。😂
only 1.40 U.S dollar , your can't get that price in U.S !
6:05 panfried buns 生煎包 shengjian bao + panfried dumplings or potstickers锅贴 guotie (10元yuan = 10 RMB for any 8 pieces)
12:05 mung bean cake
18:50 two 两个 liangge / twenty 二十 ershi / 22 二十二ershi er
26:25 ten 十 shi (the hand sign looks like the Chinese character) you kept saying and showing her 5, so she just gave it to you for 5 😅
up
cross finger mean 10😂 because in simplified Chinese word , “ten”like a cross
18:56 Nope,‘er’ means 2, but ‘er shi er’ means 22 cos ‘shi’ means 10。
let's start: si shi si shi si shi shisi shi shisi sishi shi sishi🥸
Chinese tourist areas are very commercial. It might be a good idea to go to residential areas. Their bars, shopping areas, schools.

Thanks for this information
cool hairstyle,so stylish🎉Naomi
So happy that you are enjoying China👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
imagine europeans went all the trouble to find spices in SE Asia in the 1500s, but now they don't season their food . 😄 just kidding of course.
You got to learn basic mandarin such as 1 2 3 4 , yes , no , etc . The rest can be understood by sign language 😂
Those are Sunflower seeds not Sesame seeds. We Chinese love to snack on them 😊
can you traveling in night? It's very beautiful and safe
I am a Chinese student living in Munich. I'm very happy to see that you enjoy the place where I grew up. Your compliments feel very sincere to me, and your fondness reminds me of my love for my hometown. I really miss Chinese food. I think about whether you have updated your videos every day and truly look forward to them.😢 Just hope that tomorrow coming soon.
Hi! Very nice video! Black tea is a kind of fermented tea and it is quite beneficial to our digestion system while green tea ( the one you tried in chengdu) is not fermented and it can cause stomachache if you drink a certain amount of that. So you prefer a smooth and mild taste, I would definitely recommend black tea.
@zhenzhenslittleadventures1343: I don't know anyone who gets a stomach ache from green tea. Green tea is known to help prevent cancer.
Guten tag! these videos always make my day.
You have many fans on Chinese TikTok , Bilibili and KuaiShou。
The hand gesture of crossing fingers is actually a symbol of ten, ‘十’ is the Chinese character for ten, so you can see the resemblance 😊😊😊Loved your video!!!!!!! I’m a chengdu bored chongqing guy but recently studying in another province, so I constantly get homesick watching ur videos❤❤❤
the sausage was 10 RMB😂
when the put their fingers in the shape of a cross it means "10". 👍
Can't wait for your video all day!
The place you visited is the old port near the river. In the old days without cars, port along the river is always busy.
@steaminglobster: In the future leave a timestamp.
That's wild
well, if a germen said the sausage is really good, I think that is really good. 😀
Hey, Luke. What happened to your eye? Got into a fight in a bar? LOL
did you guys managed to find the top floor building?
Thank you Naomi and Luke for all the beautiful and informative videos on your travels around China so far.
I love your narratives of the food you are eating and also of the scenery.
You are a lovely couple and this adds to the beauty of the video.
👍👍👍
10 十,look at that owner finger mark
busy but nice
Such a cool old town! So much food! Great video you 2. The people of China look happy and are friendly and welcoming! Keep having fun!
Thank you ❤️
@@TwoMadExplorers con mucho gusto
When they do that cross-finger hand gesture it's 10, not 5 😁
Chaoshou: Don't call me dumplong....
my family name is wonton!😂
You guys are making me hungry and yes being another grear video that showcase amazing society 🙂
26:21 The gesture was ten, the male owner helped to get a 50% discount for you (I think they have close relationship, so the decide for each other some how...), and after that the lady still murmuring...it was ten, she is a very nice lady :-)
Quite nervous seeing Luke hold the chopsticks🥢 so low 😅, especially when having hot pot 😅.
😂😂😂❤️
He holds his chopstick like a pencil. ✏️
Welcome to Chongqing, China. I recommend you to visit Wulong Tiankeng, where Transformers 4 was shot. It was very impressive.
Did you know? Someone has moved your videos to China's tiktok. Many people have watched them and gained a lot of Chinese fans. You are also welcome to come to China.
The cross fingers means ten in chinese numbers😂so the toast guy make you guys a discount lol
38:39 😂I see my house in the end of this video, the opposite of this river。
Oh my god, you're so tall.
"bo bo ji ,bo bo ji , yi yuan yi chuan de bo bo ji ..."
I like your video very much❤, and introduce the real China to the world from an objective perspective. Chongqing is a mountain city and likes to eat spicy food. Chengdu is a basin and likes to eat hemp. The climate in Chongqing and Chengdu is humid and sultry, so they must eat spicy food to remove moisture.
I'm sorry. I get so anxious every time I see you using chopsticks. We Chinese always hold our chopsticks in the top 1/3 of the chopsticks, so that we can use them better. For example, when you clip something in the hot pot, you won't worry about being burned, and you can also clip things up better. You can try.
I live in Canada but for some reasons, watching you guys eat good food make me feel like I'm very poor :( I want to eat those too!!! :)
What I like most is the expression of the two of them eating spicy food, so brave and funny.
You guys are lovable. Two brave travelers in China
Just being open-minded would do 😉
Just FYI, the cross sign means 10 in Chinese. But seemed like the shop owner was generous enough to hook you guys up.
love u guys! You are always so positive and full of smiles.
Amazed by your calm demeanor in the sea of people and noise😊
❤️
Chinese people have always been very friendly to foreigners. I really hope that Chinese people can get enough respect abroad, instead of being called "qingchong" when they see Chinese people.
Hello, excuse me for a moment, I am a fan from the three provinces of Northeast China, thank you for your fair and objective introduction of China! I hope you can spare some precious time, in December to Heilongjiang Province to play a few days, wish you everything, Pepsi from joy, world peace! (Above from Google Translate)
It is not very hot to go to Chongqing now. It is very hot in Chongqing in July and August every year. It is very cool in Guizhou next door. You are also welcome to come to my hometown to experience the folk customs of Guizhou and feel the simplicity and kindness of Guizhou people.
Jason in Guizhou.
The crunchy spicy nuts is called 怪味豆,I'm so addicted with it!
a very important note for those who want to travel to China. learn how to say: "I am allergic to xxx" in Chinese. before you go or print it out and bring it to every place you might eat something.
Try Hongyadong Street at night, the night view is very amazing. It's a must-go place. And Jiefangbei Street at daytime.
Very enjoyable videos. Plan to follow more.
38:10 Where you stood, in June of 2020, you would be under 50 feet of flood water.
There are 3 official long vacations nation-wide, the Chinese New Year, Labour Day and National Day. Each is about one week long. It was arranged so many years before so that people could have ample time to reunion with family, meet with friends and spend time together. It also aimed to promote tourism and consumer business. Of course, with far better and affordable tavel options available, fueled by much more income over the years, more and more people are getting out and squeezing into famous tourist spots to spend their holidays. Highways are jammed, tourists spots are overloaded. So there are cries to shorten these holidays. Chinese govenment is planning to break down these long vacations into shorter ones. Rules may come out in a couple of year time. Hopefully by then you won't see such a large ocean of people in one single spot. :-) Anyway do enjoy your stay in China.
Two is 'er', and twenty two is 'er shi er' while 'shi' is for ten.
the cross, or x is 10, which looks like a cross 十 in chinese. when in doubt just let them enter the number :D
14:20 You should try the local veggie called 折耳根. They are in the pool of red chili sauce :D
I wish you have a great time in China, and hope you can make more beautiful videos!
When you eat noodles and dumplings, you two heard an acid rock music, the song just has one word: BOBOJI😂 BOBOJI is a very traditional food of Sichuan and Chongqing, you may try it in Chongqing, very recommend
钵钵鸡 that’s Chinese word
Have watched every episode of your series about China and realized you guys can really handle spicy food! I've been to Chongqing and Chengdu a few times, and even though I consider myself pretty good with spicy food as a Cantonese, I still can't handle it.
🙏❤️
🙏❤️
As i have said before few times.. we loved china. Evrryone is so negative about it cor some reason. Not sure where people hear negative things about it . But it is not true at all. U have to go to.china to see it for yourself.. people are so vefy friendly in chins. We loved them so much. They made us laugh all the time. They so loving. So nice. I would love to go back to china. Nanning is very lovely. Very tropical too it is in Nanning
The sausage is 10 yuan. The owner of the toast shop next door doesn't speak good English and his expression is wrong. He said "5" twice, thinking it means "10". Westerners don't think like this, okay? 😂
Yeah he used his hands to show 5 twice 😂 and he meant 5 + 5 = 10😂😂😂he could’ve used both his hands though
Crazy to see how many local people are there 😮
This is the prosperity that Americans envy.
biden: economy ruin😂
I think some of them are tourists, like Chinese tourists..
@@fooioj He must have talked to Gordan Chang before he had that interview or speech. He also said the world hated the BRI. That's proved he really is living in a parallel universal.😂
if you like spicy food but can't stand the spicy in chongqing, welcome to xi’an city where tons of spicy food are but with much tender spicy. Very different flavors from chongqing or sichuan but very tasty as well!
28:08 the sausage here is not five yuan. It’s ten yuan. Two index fingers crossed is like the Chinese character for ten, which is 十. It reads shí. Five in Chinese is 五. It reads wǔ.
Love these two! Some of the comments make me giggle (like thinking the tea tray is a board game lol) but they are very endearing at the same time. Hope you are enjoying your trip in China and having a wonderful time exploring this incredible country! ❤
