As a Chinese, i guess the warmhearted Uncle saw you at the station and thought you are an African from a poor country. And he said to you:" Have you eaten ?" (A common greeting in Chinese)
He's worry about you that you don't have an accommodation because some lodges in China couldn't register foreigners, so he was intend to help you with accommodation at his Hotel.
I understand why is that concerns you a little bit due to the language barrier.
And then he show you around at Town as somehow feels like his Duty to protect you, because you know Zhujiajiao is a touristy places, and some vendor Might scams you as you don't speak Mandarin.

31:59 the cup he gave to you may look plain but he said it's 紫砂 means the material used is really expensive. This material made tea cup had a history over 1000 years from Song dynasty.
He translated it to you as purple clay, in Chinese, 紫砂. It's like the most famous tea pots and tea cups material which made the tea smells of more fragrance.
Sorry, but I don't think what you said is completely right. Purple clay does have a long history, but in China, it's not really that expensive. Similar to ceramics, most items are actually quite affordable. I'd say the teacup in the video is probably around 60 yuan or so.
@@ChengAoyu The material IS expensive and what makes price vary from 60 to 12 million yuan in auction is the crafting arts or the authenticity of Yixing clay. Just trying to introduce a popular material for teapots bc the translator didn't serve the meaning of it. 😄
There are lots of videos about Zisha/Purple clay/Purple sand teapot on TH-cam. The price does vary depending on the variety of clay used, but generally speaking, they are one of the best teapots in China. It is a nice gift.
