    Did this 2 days ago. I have never been in my life fixing electronics devices or successfully fixing electronics. Although I screw up badly to my right side speaker, things back to normal now. Important is, dont rush. Do it slowly. Take your time. 😊

    Very nice. Might give this a try myself.

    thank you for this! Had this up while I was working on the screen , got the screen out in the end. Certainly the hardest part of the entire mod

    Oh thank the lord. I've been considering swapping shells with eXtremerate's too, but couldn't really find a decent tutorial besides their official video to give me enough confidence. The screen replacement is an especially nerve wracking one for me.
    Luckily this video is the perfect guide for me to follow through with, and pretty calming to boot. Thanks a ton!

      Glad it helps! Yeah, I figured most peoples questions would be with the screen swap. Take your time so you don't overheat any one spot on the screen, use plastic picks, and don't be too aggressive and you'll be fine 👍.

    Awsome video! If I have a new screen to put into a new shell, do I need to remove the old screen from the old black shell?

      @NothingSpectacular  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You do have to remove the screen either way to get to a few screws holding the chassis to the case.

    Applicable also on OLED version? extremeRate full transparent cover?
    Thank you for sharing

      There are some slight differences, even with some of the newer versions of the non-oled version; but overall, the process is basically the same.

    An excellent video! Far better than the manufacturer of the case. I didn't like their video as there was NOBODY talking and explaining delicate stuff like the shoulder buttons or the ambient sensor. it's all text on screen and even those aren't that helpful. Video production is great! But again no talking and just annoying music in the background.

    Does anybody know if just a regular fan would be sufficient? I don't have the heat gun. Nice video btw, could you please tell if there are any scratches on backside of the screen?

    • @NothingSpectacular
      @NothingSpectacular  24 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      A regular blow dryer could probably get it hot enough but would take much longer to get it hot enough (not necessarily a bad thing as you don't want to cook your screen). As long as you use plastic tools, you shouldn't end up with any scratches under your screen. If you happen to get any under the bezel you can hide them with any type of black paint.

      @@NothingSpectacular Hey, thanks for your reply! I actually went for it and it turned out beautifully! So the fan was ok, but it really took me 20 minutes to warm the screen enough

    Can I buy a new screen instead to skip the removal of it? Just want to do this smooth as possible

    • @NothingSpectacular
      @NothingSpectacular  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would definitely speed up the process. Or if you wanted to do the high res screen mod and replace it with one of those too. A new screen would save you from the most time consuming part because you wouldn't have to worry about breaking or overheating your existing screen.

    • @DVo-fe8ew
      @DVo-fe8ew ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NothingSpectacular so there's no screw or ribbon cable thats under the screen that I need to take out for the new shell? Everything I need is what i take out from the back of the deck then?

    • @iaincowell9747

      FYI there's screws UNDER the screen that you need to get to so you'll need to remove it either way.

    I wish a company would make a case or shell that covers the front bezels I Hate em, I wish it was a breezeless display.

    • @NothingSpectacular
      @NothingSpectacular  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A shell would be hard because the adhesive for the screen is under the bezel. A case would be pretty easy to hide it with though. That could be interesting...

    • @9ALiTY
      @9ALiTY ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NothingSpectacular what if they had the adhesive go ti the top of the bezels instead of the bottom?

    • @NothingSpectacular
      @NothingSpectacular  ปีที่แล้ว

      That could be done, but then the screen would be set in at a depth of however thick the shell was. I think that would be worse.

  • @dornens

    I've cracked my screen

    • @NothingSpectacular
      @NothingSpectacular  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's rough. On the upside, a new screen is really easy to install when you're not worried about damaging the old one...
