Remember, if you replace the back shell. REMOVE THE MICRO SD CARD. You can snap it if it is still in the Steam Deck when you remove the back. The metal back plate does get hot but it's not bad enough to seriously hurt you. If you leave a finger on long enough, it will get seriously uncomfortable.
I’ve done a full shell replacement making it transparent black. Only took about 4 hours without rushing, mostly pausing the install video and making sure it was done right. Used the Extreme Rate brand and it works well so far. I’d like to get colored buttons soon to make it really pop.
@@YustinJ420 before trying it myself I’ve seen people with zero experience say it took them like 7 hours, and there’s a lot of pausing and checking if you’re being careful. If I were to do it again I could in way less time
Not sure if they upgraded their material but I ordered a clear purple switch lite shell but like 3 screw holes peeled when turning the screw. The worst part is one of the three was the game card door slot screw 😭 It is definitely a one time use disposable shell with how cheap it is.
@@Fosho-c6j If you're talking about ExtremeRate that has never been the case with them. If you're stripping things invest in better drivers or don't gorilla tighten screws down when working with small electronics.
I'd recommend against getting the transparent shell. That mod on the backplate will end up lessening your device's lifespan. The thick thermal pad beneath the aluminum plate will end up trapping heat and keep it over some of the components. The pad also blocks the airflow channels on the shield above the heatsink.
Please be advised that version of the jsaux back plate with the exposed metal plate is not the best option. The metal plate on the back gets incredibly hot, almost too hot to the touch of your fingers hit it. Jsaux makes a update version that works better for cooling. There are also several other transparent backplates that don’t change any function of the cooling of the deck
Really do not understand the point of slapping a grip on the Steam Deck. Why add more bulk to an already bulky system for something that already has good ergonomics.
I wished there was a controller in active production with great parity with the Steam Deck. I love the 4 back buttons and trackpads so much I find the experience to be worse without them.
It doesn't have the 4 back buttons but have you considered the older Steam Controller? Edit: I believe it had two back buttons sorta like the steam deck (one on either side you can squeeze)
@@hiRyan329329 I have considered the steam controller, but since it’s not in active production I’ll have to go with resellers and I don’t want to deal with that at the moment.
@@hiRyan329329 I keep being tempted, but there only being one joystick kinda throws me off a bit, as I often use both joystick and touchpad depending on the situation
should also throw out replacing the shell will void your warranty as well. If you want to do it, you might want to wait until your official year is up first.
Just did my JSAUx back plate and a 2tb SSD upgrade. Real damn easy! They really wanted us to upgrade this device. Back plate took like 7-10 min. SSD took like 2-3 minutes. Making a steam is good usb was easy and painless install
Tipp if you want a smaller travel case, you can. Remove the inner layer of the official case to get much smaller case. (Dont know if its only for the oled version)
If you could compare, how does the Steam Deck (with and without the Stylth Grip) feel like in comparison to say, any of the 3 options of the SkullnCo grips for the Switch?
7:43 WTF, you are the first person I have seen just stupidly laying your deck on the sticks to disassemble it. Why not put it in, I don't know, THE CASE THAT CAME WITH IT to protect it?
Honestly just splash out and get the jsaux bundle. It comes with basically everything. A shell for protection+front cover, the back is modular with stuff like a battery holder, fan, etc, case has a built in kick stand, you get a fan attachment that’s more gimiky but is kinda useful, a portable battery, and a hub that’s basically a dock
Got a lot of Stream Deck Accessories videos on my channel including replacing 64gb SSD of my og SD into 1tb, and putting case and transparent back cover on my latest Steam Deck OLED! Check it out if you guys want :)
I have a good feeling the steam deck will live on for a while like the nintendo switch did on the market ' the deck offers more and will ger cheaper' i can see them have apu ans cpu upgrades or something eventually
8 minutes in and this psycho doesn't use the case as a stand when he is opening his deck... I bet he has a pair of sandals that he wears exclusively when it snows.
I have a Nintendo Switch V2 and a Nintendo Switch Lite zacian and zamazenta limited edition. Should I buy a Nintendo Switch OLED or a valve steam deck 2tb?
Not worth it, the deck isn't designed for running at higher resolutions, things might change when FSR3 will be out on more titles but I wouldn't hold my breath.
You repeated the fact that changing the front of the Deck is a lot more involved and you're saving it for a future video 3 to 4 times in this video. I think it's better if you follow some kind of script because your videos kind of feel blabber-y and repetitive and a somewhat waste of time to watch.
Steam deck is kinda cool. Does have alot of accessary's. Third party stuff to make it better. That's cool. Now if it could run all the current games at 4k. I mostly play cs, ut 2k4 - 3 and some fighting games. I do play a few current games. Those are mostly single player. whatever.

Happened to my friend when he installed his 1TB internal drive. RIP all his emulator saved data.
Yep, I lost a 1TB sd card this way
Also, my deck seemed to have bricked my 1TB SanDisk card. Apparently this is a common problem but I didn’t hear anything about it

will the current jsaux shells work for the oled? i want to swap my oled into an atomic purple shell already.
