I am 62 years old and I have a very fond memory of a piece of my grandmother's jewelry. When I was small, I held it and just got lost in it. It was a brooch and I never have been able to find out what it was made from in all these years until I watched this video! It was a painted butterfly wing! I am SO thrilled to know what it was and that they are still available in some form. I lost track of that piece, being the youngest of four girls. Thank you so much for your wonderful knowledge! You have no idea what it means to me to be able to search online for a similar piece!
Thanks, George, for the education. I am not a thrifter but rather a watcher. I enjoy learning, and my husband is impressed when we go somewhere and I can name the item. I hope I am right, but probably not always. Lol
I just love tagging along with you and thank yu so much George for sharing all your knowledge. I even have my Antique Nomad note book when I watch you so I can take notes! LOL
George, thank you for sharing your knowledge, I am so amazed at how much you know about antiques and collectables. Please keep your videos coming, I so appreciate it. I will continue to follow you. Pennsylvania welcomes you anytime!!!!
I didn't know one could purchase anything like those Keltic pieces for what seems like low prices. I am a little jaded, and would wonder if those pieces really are what he claims (just thinking out loud here). And that two-piece fossil was just SO cool. Other personal favorites of mine weren't so old. The "Yippee" boy sign I would never sell if I owned it. Also, in the middle of the bakelite pins you looked at I saw one of a male drum major wearing his tall black hat. I would've snapped him up. Anyway, this particular video will go down in Antique Nomad history as a top three favorite. I learned so much.
I really trust those pieces because of their crude hand fashioned nature, the type of material used, the amount and type of oxidation and corrosion, etc. They were things that everyday people would have used in clothing and for covering things and belting them together to be hauled, so I imagine they were rather common in their time...after all, you can get a Roman coin for $35. The fossil was really neat! I do like the two Yippee signs and they are still for sale...that drum major was excellent you are right! I am so glad you thought this was that fun, and I have to say I did too!
Interesting that David Winter Cottages are making a comeback...they are hand painted so each piece is unique and they are still selling pretty cheap for what they are.IMO. Love the Maradona comment by the way, I'm English!
What is a toga pin??? It is called a: fibula. You do have great market's in America. But why outside? It is a shame of the rain. We do not have such great stuff here in the Netherlands. Most of it is junk. But we do have two times a year a great big event for collectors. From antique to toys. You would love it. Great video again.
A Fibula, thank you for the correct term! We have a lot of indoor markets as well in the USA, which are preferable in terms of protecting the merchandise and the types of things you can sell. However, the outdoor shows allow a large assortment of dealers easy access to sell larger items
@@TheAntiqueNomad ok. That different from here. Of Course we do have outdoor market's, but only around the summer. I am so jealous about the great stuff you have over there. I do learn a lot from all of you on TH-cam and enjoy it very much.
I just would like to thank you. Your videos are very educational. I can't always look but they play and I listen while doing other things. So appreciative that you say the names of the pieces and time frames from which they came. I need the knowledge because I just started my dream of selling my finds
Good evening, George! You had some fantastic sales! There were a couple of those chandeliers that I really liked. I liked that white ware pottery vase next to the Dorothy Draper plates. I used to have several of the white ware vases. The scarab bracelet you got is fantastic. I like pretty much anything ancient Egyptian related. Loved that French inkwell. Those ancient European metal pieces, at the price they were, would've likely all come home with me. I like that sort of thing. Loved that ca. 1890 fish set. I'd really like to have that Art Deco porthole window. I'd do a nautical painting and use it as a frame. I was happy to see you bought it! I liked those old lace bobbins. I have a "The Rose" lead chess set, from England, still in its original box. The pieces are flat and are red and black. To be no bigger than it is, it is definitely a heavy set. Was that a mermaid figurehead there with the advertising signs? That looked to be a fantastic show and sale! Too bad it got rained out. Thanks for showing us about!!!
I am a newer subscriber, and I have to say, you are so interesting to watch and the experience of "shopping" with you is soo fun from my chilly home in Ontario! You have great taste and knowledge..look forward to every video you make and am watching all your videos.
😂I look forward to going on the road one day. Nice find in the Jewelry.. That red set is beautiful. The screw back earring I would just turn them into post earrings.
So many wonderful things. Thank you for taking the time to explain everything and also for having people who specialize in specific things provide even more details. Always learning. So difficult not to want to start a collection every time I see something of interest!! There really is such thing as too much though, so it's best to stick to the best of the collections I have😁. Thank you again!
George, sorry about your rainy weather, as I’m watching this we are at 2°, expecting 9 below tonight! Thanks for going ahead and filming, we appreciate it! You always go above and beyond, your knowledge is appreciated!😊
I can't expect that it will be august, that we are in Florida with all the amazing fleamarkets, antiquemalls, thriftstores, jardsales and other places of interests for fleamarket hunters.
Always enjoy watching your Antique Flea Marts & shows I not only get to see your booth/tent, but get to see what friends drop by & most of all watch you go thru other peoples areas. An I really like the Chandeliers, but I don't have the ceilings or the dough to have one. I guess you stay on the lot with the tent, but I can't figure out where you guys sleep ?!? Safe Travels ! :~)
Thanks for the tour of the show and explaining the items to us !
Bummer about the rain. Glad it cleared up !! Hope Jeffery of Real Nifty Vintage got there too.
😊😊😊
Love your video's ❤ Have learned so much from you!
Always good info and a quick fix, Ty George for helping with our addiction ✌🏼💚
Lol my pleasure

I enjoy stories like yours, about your grandmother's pin. Stories like that serve to connect us in ways other avenues do not.

I love the old sand pails.
Yes those were favorites of mine too
Thanks George! I have a heart butterfly necklace. It's double sided. 2 different pictures. Never seen another one. I collect butterfly jewelry. 💓💓
The greenbrier hotel is in White Sulfur Springs wv. I live in this area and this is one of their older patterns
I have a box just like that Boy Scouts box. Mine has the Cog Railroad in New Hampshire which I’ve been on. It was amazing ride.

The highlight of my day at the extravaganza is visiting your booth and talking to you.

Thank you for showing us all this cool stuff!! It is always enjoyable and entertaining to see the old items and learn about them!:)
I love DeGrazia.
❤️ TFS!
I adore art deco!
Great video George! Thanks for the mention and for sharing all your knowledge with us!! 🥰

Thank you! Purple hearts no less
George, do you ever have Nasa memorabilia? Maybe the models of the Apollo, ect...
I have a Skylab bottle, a Wedgwood Apollo moon plate, a plaque and...that might be it.
I always enjoy your videos George, thanks for sharing. ❤

How is Renningers Antique Extravaganza already open? I thought it started tomorrow!
Love the intro..very trippy!
Great video George! Loved seeing the old buckles, etc from Europe.
I did too
💕
George, can you tell me what the big pink glass piece at 3:54 is? I think I have it but haven't been able to attribute it.
I just sold that piece! I believe it to be Chalet of Canada
@@TheAntiqueNomad Thank you so much! It was a $15 Goodwill find for me. Did I do okay?
Thanks for showing some rock stuff for folks like me! Was that a dinosaur glass figure I saw you sell?!!!
It was not a figment of your imagination! I can confirm that I saw it, too.
It was a dinosaur! It went to Alex at Chapter Two Vintage Co. and her family
How do you cut back on spending for housing and food
That's actually a very valid question. I have often wondered the same.
@@twistoffate4791 When i think i might be interested in real world selling i cant see how to not spend a bunch of money
@@elainelathem I truly understand.
That green Sascha Brastoff bowl was stunning!! 💚😍
I also coveted the two Brush frogs that made an appearance on one of the tables. 🐸☺️
Great video George! Thanks for sharing!
