    First thing I did with my otherwise immaculate 50k miles 2003 WRX STI after buying was to get a full set of new tyres, next a full service, clutch, cambelt/waterpump, timeserts in the stripped threads of both front calipers. 'Dyno health check' is a must. My nearest is in Farnborough I think, half an hour from me.

    Awesome tips as usual. I recently changed my rear camber bolts and indeed the car did settle in, not as twitchy as it was before. On my next trip to the tyre shop I will try these settings you have here and see what happens.

    Number 1 and 5 are literally the ones that never happen but are a MUST. It's truly scary how many "shiney" Subaru's I see on Facebook that then confess they are absolutely rotten underneath, from the rad support to the rear arches and everything inbetween. New owners/buyers are blinded by gold wheels, Subaru burble and a Decat MOT that forgot to check everything else 🤣🤣 1 thing I'd add to that list is a basic service, so YOU know when it was done and what products etc were used, don't take the previous owners word for it. The excitement of a new car can often distract people from the fact a 2018 cambelt is now 5 years old.

    Is that as much positive caster as possible or negative thanks terry

    • @racedynamix
      @racedynamix  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      caster is throwback of the top of the strut .. more is better as it adds negative camber while cornering.
      negative camber is more static and too much can cause inside edge wear and following ruts on the road... the settings that I go through in my ultimate suspension video work great 😎

    Then I actually almost got things right... Bought an 02 wrx about 1.5 years ago now. But it had a problem. engine light and misfire codes (the car seemed fine otherwise) The previous owner thought it was because there was no catalytic converter on it. I got a build custom exhaust (2.5 inches that sounds perfect) Changed some sensors and spark plugs at the same time. A bit of searching and with the car getting worse found a cylinder leak . The previous owner had changed the turbo (and rebuilt it ich) without getting it tuned... Thank you. Luckily I found another ej205 that I can put in and get it tuned correctly .Other than that, I have acquired brand new summer and winter tires and have better coilovers on the way... Plus a little rust repair and this will be an expensive but exciting year

  • @Scoobypaul75
    @Scoobypaul75 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Duncan. What’s your experience with exhaust manifolds? I’ve just taken a cheap set of stainless manifolds off mine and gone back to stock just because I hated the way they sounded. I’m in the process of making some small adjustments on the fuel map as it did seem to affect drivability a little bit. What are the limitations on the stock manifold. I’m still running 1.8 bar of boost with the g25 660 turbo with water/meth.

    • @racedynamix
      @racedynamix  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah.. I did a post of Facebook recently on an aftermarket set of toyosport headers that cost the owner 175 bhp. Gt spec headers are great but the uppipe size is too large imo. The std headers are fabulous but the flange where they meet the heads causes turbulence and extreme back pressure. Porting these with a whuzzy wheel will enable them to flow to over 600 bhp in my experience without the tinny sound from after market headers nor the prevelance for cracking 👍

    • @Scoobypaul75
      @Scoobypaul75 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@racedynamix ok that’s great to hear. I had seen the port and polish subject being discussed but not from anyone reputable. I’ll look at going this in the future. Is it worth doing the crossover pipe or just the head flanges?

    • @racedynamix
      @racedynamix  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Scoobypaul75 the main issue is the head flanges.. But if they are off and apart blend the areas where there are soot marks inside the gaskets. Just to smooth them out a bit 👍

      @@Scoobypaul75 I ran 430bhp 460lbft (crank) on stock ported headers using the technique Duncan mentions. If you use a set of old gaskets or soot marks to port/blend/smooth a stock set they work fine.
